Recorded from the balcony of a condo in Harrison Twp, MI (Macomb County), this supercell thunderstorm left about 65400 Michigan homes and businesses without power after delivering winds gusting up to 75 miles per hour knocking down trees and power lines, damaging roofs and blacking out about 84000 customers. The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings that evening, but no funnel clouds were confirmed.
This supercell was tornado warned at the time of filming (7:14pm EDT). Strong rotation and a possible funnel cloud are seen. This cell dropped two confirmed tornadoes (7:27pm EDT @ 22 mile & Hayes & 7:43pm EDT @ 16 1/2 mile & Groesbeck in Macomb County, MI just a few minutes after this video was shot. Looking West from my vantage point, you can clearly see the funnel that moved through Macomb County around 1930 hours on 8-19-2010. From WXYZ.Com SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes touched down Thursday night in Macomb County. One tornado hit in the area of Hall Road near Hayes in Macomb Township... the other touched down near Groesbeck Highway just north of 16 Mile Road in Mount Clemens. The Mount Clemens twister touched down around 7:43 pm, and was on the ground for approximately 5 minutes before lifting back up near 14 Mile Road and Harper Avenue. The National Weather Service says the tornado measured about 200 yards wide, and it traveled more than 3 miles.
8-19-2010 Weather radar indicated a severe storm with rotation in Saginaw moving SE @ 35mph. Eventually an hour and a half later, it reaches my neck of the woods.. this video was sized down from over 19minutes of video.

The fire engulfed and destroyed only 2 businesses which were Chelsea's Hallmark and Vision Consultants although nearly all of the businesses on the south side of the square were affected by smoke or water damage. Reverse Engineering a Transmission Tunnel: After hand fabricating a transmission tunnel for the 1923 T-bucket, it was reverse engineered to produce one with an improved shape and to be able to mass produce small quantities. The model was scanned using a handheld scanner reading 26000 points per second. The point cloud was used to develop a CAD solid model to be used as the math model for CNC machining the styrofoam pattern. The machined pattern was used to layup the fiberglass mold.

The second note did not specify the nature of the threat. In addition, the Secretary of State police unit's bomb-sniffing canine was on the Western Illinois University-Macomb campus at approximately 1:30 pm today (March 26) to search various areas of campus as a precautionary measure due to a threatening message that was written on the wall of a Stipes Hall restroom stall. The message, which was discovered around 10:50 am today, indicated a bomb would go off on campus at 10 am March 26. More information is available at www.wiu.edu

Micro CNC machining on a Haas VF-4 at Macomb College's Haas Technical Education Center using an NSK 100000 RPM add-on spindle (shown in green). The RPMs gave us the ability to feed at 80 IPM in hardened steel.
This video combines several High Speed Machining projects performed at Macomb Community College using Haas machines and a variety of exotic indexable and solid carbide cutting tools donated by Iscar Metals. Material types range from 4140 to P-20 tool steel donated by PCS. All machining was performed at Macomb College's Haas Technical Edcation Center.

This video encompasses the area from the west edge of the city to the entry to Macomb Square, with the final scene being that of the venerable McDonough County Courthouse, commanding the center of the square itself. As in previous segments, the emphasis here is the "passenger seat view" of the city as being driven through during filming.
