Pacquiao's training right on schedule, says adviser October 13, 2010 21:06:52 Allaying fears that everything is not going fine in Manny Pacquiao's high-altitude training camp in Baguio City, Michael Koncz, one of the closest advisers of the boxing champion, assured that the `Pacman' is very much in focus for his Nov. 13 title date with Antonio Margarito of Mexico. "On Manny's behalf, there is nothing to worry about," Koncz said. "He's right on schedule and he's extremely motivated." Koncz had to make the guarantee amidst great concerns that the 31-year-old Pacquiao has been incautious in training for a fight he considers time and again, as one of the toughest in his boxing career. Frequent playing of basketball at night and missed early morning road works depicted the early part of Pacquiao's training in the Baguio highlands. Likewise, he had to break camp and travel back to Manila and honor a commitment as special guest during a military sports competition in Camp Crame as well as participate in a huge charity run aimed at the rehabilitation of the Pasig River. The boxing icon also skipped training for a day after contracting a mild cold. Koncz did acknowledge the hectic schedule Pacquiao had in his capacity as boxer, celebrity and congressman from the lone district of Sarangani. But at the same time, he stressed that the world's top pound-for-pound fighter has never been remiss preparing for his bid to win a record eighth world title exactly a month from now. "Manny is ...

**FACEBOOK BOXING COMMUNITY www.facebook.com Presented by Top Rank Boxing: www.youtube.com Song: Lords Of Acid 'Crab Louse' Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito are two fighters known for their power, and for good reason. Pacquiao has knocked out more than 67 percent of his opponents, while Margarito has a knockout percentage of 60 percent. However, both fighters trainers seem to think that there is a 100 percent chance of a knockout when Pacquiao and Margarito fight for the vacant WBC junior middleweight title November 13. Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, told EastSideBoxing.com that Pacquiao would knockout Margarito within eight rounds. Margarito's coach, Robert Garcia, on the other hand, had a more specific prediction—a knockout victory for Margarito in the eleventh round. It seems like an eerie coincidence that Garcia would select Round 11 for a knock, considering Margarito's biggest victory came in an 11th-round technical knockout over Miguel Cotto, who at that time was undefeated. Although Margarito and Pacquiao have knocked out the majority of their opponents, both boxers have also kissed the canvas for knockout losses as well. Manny Pacquiao has been knocked out twice early in his professional career by Rustico Torrecampo and Medgoen Singsurat, but he hasn't been knocked down at all since 2003 (in a fight he eventually won by TKO.) Margarito has only been knocked out once, but his knockout loss is much more recent than Pacquiao's. His only knockout (ninth round ...
PACQUIAO VS. MARGARITO: BRUISED SPAR MATE MICHAEL MEDINA SAYS PACQUIAO IS INCREDIBLY FAST! Roach cuts down sparring load for Pacquiao By Abac Cordero (The Philippine Star) Updated October 03, 2010 12:00 AM BAGUIO CITY, Philippines -- Freddie Roach is no longer pushing Manny Pacquiao as hard as he used to. In fact, Roach said he'd be cutting down on the number of sparring rounds as Pacquiao enters the last six weeks of training for his Nov. 13 showdown with Antonio Margarito in Arlington, Texas. After six days in this cold City of Pines, Pacquiao has logged eight rounds of sparring -- four with Glen Tapia last Thursday and another four with Michael Medina yesterday at the Shape Up Gym. A couple more sparring partners, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Vanes Martirosyan, both standing six feet, are coming in anytime. Sparring should have started last Tuesday but Roach found no need and pushed it to Thursday. "I decided it was too early to spar last Tuesday," he said. "You know last fight we had 160 rounds of sparring. We still have seven weeks here. I actually don't want to get 160 rounds of sparring here. I don't think he needs that anymore," said Roach. The magic number for the Margarito fight, a big one considering that the Mexican is more than six inches taller than the 5-foot-6 Pacquiao, could be just a little over a hundred. "We'll be shooting for a hundred to 110. Manny already has all the experience. I don't want to burn him out," said Roach. But that may be so much easier ...

**FACEBOOK BOXING COMMUNITY www.facebook.com Presented by Top Rank Boxing: www.youtube.com Promo requested by 0OTheKingO0: www.youtube.com Margarito (37-6, 27 KOs) will make his ring return against untested Roberto Garcia (28-2, 21 KOs) on May 8 in Aguascalientes, Mexico, Top Rank's Bob Arum told ESPN.com on Wednesday. In February, Margarito became eligible to be re-licensed, although he has not returned to California seeking a license. He did attempt to get a license in Texas to fight on the March 13 Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey undercard, but before his application was ruled on Texas regulators wanted to have a hearing on the matter. Top Rank elected to put another fight on the card instead rather than go through with a hearing. Margarito will be moving up to junior middleweight, but could return to welterweight. "He'll fight at junior middleweight and then, depending on who he will fight in his next fight, he might get back down to welterweight," Arum said. "Margarito really wants to fight Manny Pacquiao and that would be at welterweight. If the Pacquiao fight isn't there, he might face the winner of the [June 5] fight between Yuri Foreman and Miguel Cotto." In July 2008, in the fight before he faced Mosley, Margarito stopped Cotto in the 11th round to win a welterweight title in a result that has been tainted because so many believe his gloves were loaded for that fight. Trainer Javier Capetillo, who inserted the illegal pads into Margarito's gloves, also had his ...
