Margherita Buy is an Italian actress born in Rome on 15 January 1962.<p>After a long period of studying at the Academy of Dramatic Arts, she made her breakthrough as an actress in Duccio Tessari's Una grande storia d'amore (1986), which was followed by roles in Daniele Luchetti's two projects Domani accadrà (1988) and La settimana della finge (1990). For the last one, she won the prize of best performance by an actress in a leading role at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
<p>After this success, she was the heroine in Sergio Rubini's La Stazione, an authentic Italian masterpiece for which she won her first David di Donatello Prize and the Silver Ribbon as best leading actress, in 1990.
