On April 13, 2009, both Harry Kalas, the legendary Philadelphia Phillies announcer, and Mark "The Bird" Fidrych, a former pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, passed away. Kalas was sitting in the broadcasting booth in Washington a few hours before the Philly-Nationals game, when he passed out. He died at 12:30 PM. He was 73 years old. Fidrych was apparently working on his pick-up truck when his neighbor found him dead, underneath the truck. He died 2:30 PM. He was 54.
