Performed by Judy Garland and Martha Raye for 'The Judy Garland Show', taped January 14, 1964. These Great Ladies Of Laughter take us on a wonderful medley of Glen Miller standards, including: 'I've Heard that Song Before', 'Moonlight Cocktail', 'Pennsylvania 6-5000', 'Elmer's Tune', 'At Last', & 'St. Louis Blues March.' This is one of my favorite segments from Judy's show. Judy had history with Martha Raye, both having been married to band leader, David Rose. She became engaged to David in May 1941, just 2 months after his divorce from Martha Raye. Despite planning a big wedding, the couple eloped to Las Vegas and married during the early hours of July 28th 1941, with her mother Ethel and her stepfather Will Gilmore present. Judy was 19 years old. While there is some controversy with details - Judy being forced into an abortion - essentially, the couple separated in January 1943 when Judy realized that David was too weak to fight for her and stand up to MGM. Judy always needed ... & looked for ... a protector. www.youtube.com *No copyright infringement intended* *All audio/video/photo content remains in the sole ownership of their creator* *For entertainment purposes only*

I got this from another person on youtube but I couldn't find the original post so I uploaded it to show others who are fans. It's too good for it not to be seen!
This video is a condensed version of a 5-part article that I wrote by the same name, which can be found here: otrfan68.wordpress.com ---------- Gloria Lockerman was a 12-year-old child, who in 1955 appeared on "The $64000 Question," and correctly spelled "antidisestablishmentarianism." The day after the show aired, she was the talk of the nation! Perhaps any child would have made big news by appearing on a quiz show and spelling the word correctly, but most Americans found Gloria Lockerman exceptionally gifted because she was intelligent.....and black. This video tells the story of Gloria's appearance on "The $64000 Question, as well as her appearance, a month later, on "The Martha Raye Show." Her Martha Raye Show appearance is also significant, as it was the show that was probably responsible for the show's cancellation. Tallulah Bankhead was the guest star on the show. She and Martha Raye, at the end of the show, felt inclined to give hugs and kisses to little Gloria Lockerman. The public was outraged that two big stars such as Martha & Tallulah would publicly show affection to a black child, as innocent as it was.

December 22nd 1965 Miss Martha Raye performed for the Crew of the USS Ticonderoga CVA-14 off the Coast of VietNam. Miss Martha Raye could be called the Grand Old Lady of the American Stage. At the conclusion of her show Miss Raye stated: I want you to know why an American woman should be proud she is an American..it is because of men like you.
Martha Raye performs her famous "Mr. Paganini" accompanied by Bob Burns on his bazooka and Louis Prima on the trumpet from the 1936 film "Rhythm On The Range."
I think maybe they were really shooting arrows towards them and the whole scene was choreographed.... but then again, this movie's got so many special effects, that I think now they must have split the screen in some way...

Tallulah Bankhead's opening monologue involves Spring cleaning, the bulk storing of pills & the repercussions of consuming them. Guest Martha Raye jokes with Tallulah & then sings a beautiful version of "That Old Black Magic". From NBC's The Big Show, April 15th 1951. ***No, this is not Patsy & Edina from "Absolutey Fabulous" in the main photo. It is apparently Carol Channing {left} & Tallulah Bankhead in the 1950s.

The Judy Garland Show The Judy Garland/Martha Raye medley is comprised of three dress rehearsal takes. In the first and the third Judy flubbed the lyrics on Moonlight Serenade. In the first take Martha flubbed her entrance on Pennsylvannia 6-5000. The entire third take was aired, with Judy's flub intact and Martha saying "You blew it again Judy" which is hilarious in the original context of the three takes but a bit confusing on its own. So, I took the three takes and edited them together ...
