Richard Sherman is the enthusiastic host to the great next feature called "A Musical Journey" (20:48). Here, Sherman provides a barrage of anecdotes about musical numbers that made the film and some that didn't. There's surprisingly clear footage of the cast acting in front of black screens (to be replaced by matte paintings), an alternate version of the fireworks scene with rapid orchestration, footage from a deleted yodeling number by Julie Andrews, and much more. The fast pace works well for this revealing and entertaining piece, and Sherman makes for a great host as he moves in front of various backdrops from the film including the animated worlds of the chalk drawings. It ends with the deleted "Chimpanzoo" song as it appears elsewhere.

Another review! Oh my! Apologies, guys, my audio is kind of ehhh at points here but I did my best. You're lucky to have gotten this review as soon as you did, really! I kept getting distracted, mainly due to my dancing around in my underwear to Benny Goodman's "Sing Sing Sing" ... ... -Ahem- BUT ANYWAY. Mary Poppins. I love the movie but it's really crazy and totally lacking in the character development area, at least in the origins of where the hell the title character came from. Sigh! Disagree with me if you wish but hey, at least agree that my new intro song is cool, right? :P
Here is part 2 of different versions of "Mary Poppins" that "AubreyMan62187" mentioned in his video. Plus the 45th Anniversary DVD release of the film. Enjoy!

Liner Notes: Before Mrs Travers signed over the film rights to her beloved character, she flew to The Walt Disney Studio and had a series of story meetings to discuss the outline and songs that Walt, The Sherman Brothers and Don DiGradi had prepared. In 1961 between April 5th and the 10th, Mrs Travers, The Sherman Brothers and Don DiGradi sat in the Shermans' office on the third floor of the Animation Building and discussed this very first outline of the proposed Mary Poppins Film. After these series of meetings concluded, Mrs. Travers realized her magical nanny was in good hands, and she gave Walt the go ahead to do the film. Presented here are the first part of the excerpts from those historic meetings. The first voice is Mrs. Travers (Obviously), followed by Don DiGradi, Robert Sherman and Richard Sherman.
