Medgar Evers College Prep. East Coast Ocean of Soul Marching Band. This is our field show competition show which was a little weaker than usual because of a terrible bus ride and no field access for a few days prior to our competition. This is the last performance of Field show # 1, so we decided to post it to get comments good and bad.
Medgar Evers battles York near the end of the CUNYAC regular season, #11 Menard Millus is a great team player, setting up #8 Ousmane Toure for a shot, but earns a goal himself. He's become a reliable scorer for the Cardinals, scoring 2 in the previous game against Baruch. The Cougar's #11 Sharard Sullivan returns the favor minutes later with a little flair in the top corner of the goal. Cardinal Star Forward #6 Rachidi Amadolu added another goal to his tally. Rachidi has scored 7 goals this season and even though the Cougars had two big chances to tie the game one being an offsides, Rachidi had the winning shot. By winning this match, York solidifies their ability to get into the CUNYAC Quarterfinals.

Another very underrated song that I didn't find in Youtube, so I uploaded it. Enjoy. Lyrics: In the state of mississippi many years ago A boy of 14 years got a taste of southern law He saw his friend a hanging and his color was his crime And the blood upon his jacket left a brand upon his mind Chorus: too many martyrs and too many dead Too many lies too many empty words were said Too many times for too many angry men Oh let it never be again His name was medgar evers and he walked his road alone Like emmett till and thousands more whose names well never know They tried to burn his home and they beat him to the ground But deep inside they both knew what it took to bring him down *chorus* The killer waited by his home hidden by the night As evers stepped out from his car into the rifle sight He slowly squeezed the trigger, the bullet left his side It struck the heart of every man when evers fell and died. *chorus* And they laid him in his grave while the bugle sounded clear Laid him in his grave when the victory was near While we waited for the future for freedom through the land (*) The country gained a killer and the country lost a man *chorus* /pre

How to finger pick this sad, but powerful ballad. Verses: Am (53234323, 53234323) Dm (43235323, 43235323) G (63234323, 63234323) Am (53234323, 53234323) Am (53234323, 53234323) Dm (43235323, 43235323) E (63234323, 63234323) Am (53234323, 53234323) Chorus: Dm (43231323) G (63231323) C (5323) C/B (5323) Am (53234323) repeat this line 3 times, then Dm (43231323) E (63231323) Am (53234323)
This song has always been my favorite from "The Judy Collins Concert", even long before I understood the English lyrics and the stirring background. In memory of NAACP activist Medgar Evers, cowardly assassinated 1963 in Mississippi for no reason except being black. ________________________________________ Bye, bye, my baby, I'll rock you to sleep, Sing you a sad song, it might make you weep. Your daddy is dead, and he'll never come back, And the reason they killed him because he was black. I'll tell you a story that you ought to know, It happened in our town a short while ago. Your daddy was walking alone for some air, And a man in the bushes was waiting right there. That man shot your daddy and laughed while he died. Your daddy lay dying with tears in his eyes. He cried for the things that a man leaves undone, And he cried for the dreams that he had for his son. What will you do, son, when you are a man? Will you learn to live lonely and hate all you can? Will you try to be happy and try not to see That all men are slaves till their brothers are free? Bye, bye, my baby, I'll rock you to sleep, Sing you a sad song, it might make you weep. Your daddy is dead, and he'll never come back, And the reason they killed him because he was black.
