Dogs Deserve Better's Tamira Thayne and volunteers visited dogs left chained outside in Pennsylvania during the coldest night of the year, 7 degrees with a wind chill of -11. After helping two underweight chained dogs, both with inadequate shelter, by providing them with straw, food, and water, and returning three days later in a second attempt to speak to the caretakers, she was charged with defiant trespass. Trouble with that is, she was only screamed at to leave one time, the second time she was attempted to speak to someone. Defiant Trespass requires the person to be told to leave once and they in essence defy this request. The caretaker is lying by claiming that Thayne was told to leave twice. This is completely false, and Thayne has a witness. Will that be enough for a Pennsylvania courtroom? That remains to be seen, February 16th at 9:30 in the Portage, PA district court on main street. Can you come out to support Thayne and the rights of chained dogs to warmth, adequate shelter, and human companionship? June 2008, National skillsusa Precision Machining Contest, Pennsylvania Post Secondary Contestant, Keith Yatsk. Keith is a graduate of The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades, Media, PA., Instructor: Carmen Martella. (The video contains only a few highlights of the contest.) The precision machining contest is based on NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) standards for machining and manufacturing, and is a very rigorous contest. On Wednesday of conference week, the contestants take a two-hour written. They are then introduced to the contest site where they have a couple hours to become familiar with the machines that will be used in the contest. On Thursday, the contestants perform the hands-on portion of the contest. It is divided up into six major sections, each of which is allotted one hour and 20 minutes. The major contest sections are: Manual milling machine Engine lathe (manual turning machine) Precision surface grinder and drill press Quality control, workpiece inspection CNC (computer numerical control) mill programming CNC lathe programming In addition, the ability to communicate verbally using proper industry terminology is also evaluated during the competition. My father Joe Techner (pictured) was trumpet on the three Left Bank Bearcats "Dixieland" albums. Crazy solo at 1:54. The Left Bank Bearcat albums were knock-off albums probably made by Dave Miller's Somerset label to cash-in on the Dukes of Dixieland albums that debuted in May 1957. The recordings were locally supervised by Joe Kuhn, an army musician buddy of my dad. My dad recalled that the records were sort of "underground" since those responsible for them didn't go through the "proper channels" to make them. As a result, according to my father, Kuhn was beat up and later died. The official cause of death was cancer of the spinal cord following a two-year illness. Kuhn was probably beaten up for years of under-the-table recordings for Dave Miller. Miller imported recordings he supervised in Germany using readily-available cheap labor from the local musicans in post-World War II Europe. But Miller apparently didn't have the availability of French musicians at the time. So he tried to pass the Left Bank Bearcats lps ("recorded in Paris") as some of these imports. Kuhn made the recordings hastily and clandestinely. However, local Philly musicians recognized the players' styles on the albums and the players themselves kidded about it. Those that controlled the music business came after Kuhn. Miller was elusive and was mostly abroad in Germany or England. On Monday, I told you about the Obama carpet-bombing campaign FOX has initiated. Their plan is clear — saturate their network with constant negative stories about Obama by mangling and spinning his fairly benign comment about rural voters or demonizing Obama's former minister, hoping that enough of them will stick to sufficiently cripple Obama's chances in this Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary. Their ultimate goal is to help Hillary Clinton win big enough in PA so she can make the argument to superdelegates that she should be the democratic nominee, even though she has no chance of beating Obama in pledged delegates. FOX and the republicans want Clinton to be the nominee because they think John mccain has a better chance of beating her than Obama (though I don't think he could beat either). So here's a short teaser to give you an idea of how bad it really is on FOX. All of these clips were taken from the first TEN MINUTES (before the first commercial break) of the Monday April 14, 2008 episode of Your World w/ Neil Cavuto, which purports to be a business show. And more stories followed, including Cavuto paraphrasing neocon William Kristol's scurrilous New York Times op-ed (which was published the same day) that Obama sounds "very Karl Marxie", then attributing the sentiment to an unnamed democrat.
