Washington Post Columnist and radio host Mike Wise has been suspended for a month. The journalist published a hokey statement on Twitter to point out how journalism is failing in credibility. Ultimately the stunt tarnished his own credibility. Wise published the falsehood to his twitter account yesterday: "Roethlisberger will get five games, I'm told." He implied Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, would be suspended for five games versus the six. After being reprimanded, he followed up with: "As part of a bit on my show today, I tried to test the accuracy of social media reporting. Probably not the best way to go about experiment." Although, his point was made. The Miami Herald and ProFootballTalk picked up the report.

1995 NBA PLAYOFFS; Jordan Fancies Passing, And the Bulls Respond By MIKE WISE Published: May 15, 1995 www.nytimes.com CHICAGO, May 14— He was dribbling on the left wing, rocking his head side to side and wagging his tongue. The crowd rose, the shot clock wound down and Nick Anderson was in his face. Yet another Michael Jordan milestone: He passed the ball. The Chicago Bulls tied their Eastern Conference semifinal with the Orlando Magic at two games apiece with a 106-95 victory in Game 4 tonight at the United Center because the world's most dominant player decided to become the world's most dominant role player. With the Bulls clinging to a 95-91 lead with under two minutes to play and looking for a technical knockout, Jordan gave up the ball, a decision that led to Toni Kukoc swishing a 3-pointer from the right baseline and sending the series back to Orlando even up. "Michael Jordan was more intent on getting other people involved in the offense," said Bulls Coach Phil Jackson, who has wrestled with offensive chemistry since Jordan's return in March. Jordan led the Bulls with 26 points on 9-for-21 shooting and Scottie Pippen added 24 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. But it was Jordan's unselfishness down the stretch -- and his teammates rewarding him for it -- that proved to be the difference. The series resumes Tuesday night. Jordan -- who scored 40 points in the Bulls' Game 3 defeat -- went scoreless in the first quarter, preferring instead to involve Pippen, Kukoc and ...
1995 NBA PLAYOFFS; Now Magic Has Jordan's Number By MIKE WISE Published: May 13, 1995 www.nytimes.com CHICAGO, May 12— After all the fuss and the fines, Orlando Magic Coach Brian Hill may have lent the best perspective of all: "It's not the number," he said. "It's the person inside the uniform." That person, Michael Jordan, was less than spectacular in his No. 23 uniform and the Magic were simply too determined to let a musty old jersey from the rafters interrupt their purpose in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. With Jordan unable to bail out the Bulls in the final minutes and the Magic's continuing maturity in the post-season, Orlando emerged with a 110-101 victory before 24281 tonight at the United Center and took a 2-1 lead in the four-of-seven-game series. Jordan scored 40 points on 15-of-31 shooting, but had only 9 in the second half and missed 4 shots in the final two minutes to go along with a crucial foul and a crucial turnover. Scottie Pippen finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds, and the Bulls still could not get the victory. "It boosts your confidence when Scottie gets 25, Michael gets 40 and you still win," said Anfernee Hardaway, who had 19 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds for the Magic. "It's early, but I think we've grown up in the playoffs." Shaquille O'Neal (28 points, 10 rebounds) and Horace Grant (18 points, 14 rebounds) controlled the boards as the Bulls regained home-court advantage. Game 4 is Sunday at the United Center. Whatever ...
