Miss SC's response begins from 0:44. Not that I'm the first to have had this idea (check out Spastic Ink), but in this video I did my best to match the organic melodic curve of our glib young lady's voice and assign notes to her words that worked within the harmonic confines of the background music! Lately, I've been devoting way too much time to learning (with meticulousness) the awesome Gregory Brothers' Auto-Tune the News episodes note-for-note on my 3-stringed fretless Tsugaru shamisen. In doing so, I got inspired by the implications of what they were doing: extrapolating melodies from the natural pitch arch of the auto-tuned character's speech, and then composing around these many times awkward (but awesome, of course) rhythms and melodies. They probably preserve many of the natural originally spoken rhythms, too, even though everything is quantized. What I thought, though, was what if I did the same thing without quantizing the speaker so that the rhythms of their speech were allowed to be irregular and fall outside of the bar lines? What if I wrote a melody that, as much as possible, matched and accentuated the natural "melody" of the speech?! Anyway, this is how I spent today 'cause that's just the way it is. LIFE! Tsugaru shamisen is an ancient 3-stringed fretless Japanese lute, and is traditionally played aggressively with a large plectrum called a "bachi." Tsugaru shamisen - Mike Penny

Keep in mind that Sarah Palin has had OVER A YEAR to come up with an answer for why she's qualified to be president, the biggest concern about her that possibly cost mccain/Palin the election, and this is the best she could come up with. I did no editing on Palin's answer — she really does sound that stupid. Here's a transcript of Palin's answer: Bill O'Reilly: Let me be very bold and fresh again, do you believe that you are smart enough, incisive enough, intellectual enough to handle the most powerful job in the world? Sarah Palin: I believe that I am because I have common sense and I have I believe the values that I think are reflective of so many other American values, and I believe that what Americans are seeking is not the elitism, the uhm, the ah, a kind of spineless, spinelessness that perhaps is made up for that with some kind of elite, Ivy league education and, and a fat resume that is based on anything but hard work and private sector, free enterprise principles. Americans are could be seeking something like that in positive change in their leadership, I'm not saying that that has to be me. HT to Cenk Uygur and his great op-ed on Palin's stupidity (is.gd for making me aware of this interview, which I hadn't seen.

Predicting the future wasn't tough with this one. Knowing Ole Miss was way overrated and due for a flight back to reality we booked a flight from Los Angeles to South Carolina to be part of the Thursday night festivities in Columbia, where unranked South Carolina took on No. 4 Ole Miss - and the Gamecocks didn't disappoint as they handed the Rebels their first loss in eight games. This footage shows scenes from inside Williams Brice Stadium on that special night. Go Cocks!
