Barry & Phoebe show you how to make Monkey Bread - naughty, but nice. Blog www.myvirginkitchen.com Facebook http Twitter www.twitter.com Definition from wikipedia: Monkey bread, also called sticky bread, African coffee cake, golden crown, pinch-me cake, bubbleloaf and monkey brains is a sticky, gooey pastry served in the United States for breakfast. The origin of the term monkey bread is uncertain. Possible etymologies include that the bread resembles the monkey puzzle tree, or the act of several people pulling at the bread is reminiscent of monkey behavior. Recipes for the bread first appeared in American women's magazines and community cookbooks in the 1950s, and the dish is still virtually unknown outside the United States. The bread is made with pieces of sweet yeast dough (often frozen) which are baked in a cake pan at high heat after first being individually covered in melted butter, cinnamon, sugar and chopped pecans. It is traditionally served hot so that the baked segments can be easily torn away with the fingers and eaten by hand
Gypsy Food Monkey Bread
Greetings! Time for some monkey bread! Had to share this one with you. Super easy, inexpensive and delicious. Even if it doesn't come out of the pan in one beautiful piece, don't worry, eat it and you won't even care. If you don't have an angel food cake pan you can use a tube pan, or bundt pan. No worries, use what you have. Even a loaf pan or two would work. Add in some raisins and some nuts and you have a delicious alternative to more complicated sticky buns but its fancier than just using the refrigerator cinnamon rolls. I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it. As always, Happy Eating!

Hi, I'm Stephanie Gallagher, the Iron Chef Mom (www.theironchefmom.com), and today, we're making monkey bread, also sometimes called cinnamon pull-apart bread. For this recipe, you will need 3 containers of refrigerated biscuit dough (buttermilk or regular) 1 cup granulated sugar 2-3 tsp. ground cinnamon 3/4 cup butter 1/2 cup brown sugar Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Now grease or spray a bundt pan with cooking spray. Important! Do not use a tube pan - which is one of those cake pans that comes in two pieces. That will be a disaster, because the caramel sauce can ooze out of it and get all over your oven. It has to be a Bundt pan. Now take all of the biscuit dough pieces out of the can. Cut each biscuit into quarters, and separate them, like this. Ok, take a gallon-size plastic bag, and add the granulated sugar to it. Then add the cinnamon, and mix them together, like this. Add a few pieces of the biscuit dough at a time, maybe 8 pieces, and shake them around in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat them well. Then place them in the prepared Bundt pan. Continue adding the biscuit dough to the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and adding it to the pan until you've finished with all of the dough. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, and bring to a low boil. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Now pour this caramel mixture over the dough pieces in the pan. Try to coat them evenly. Bake the monkey bread for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown and ...

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Caramel-Walnut Monkey Bread. This bread is easily made from canned, cut-up biscuits, flavored with sugar and cinnamon, and layered with a sauce made of butter, brown sugar, and English walnuts. It is gorgeous, and tastes wonderful! In this video I mentioned that you can find a similar video for making Monkey Bread at Amy's Kitchen at the usafireandrescue channel. I highly recommend Amy's channel, and I hope you will visit. (I know many of you are subscribers to her channel already!) Amy's Monkey Bread is heavenly! Here is my version: Ingredients: 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1 cup chopped walnuts (or pecans) ¾ cup butter, melted (2) 12-oz. cans refrigerated biscuits (Keep them cool while working with your ingredients.) 1 ½ cups white sugar 2 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon (Note: You may be able to get by with less white sugar and cinnamon. You could try just half as much and then mix up more, it needed.) cooking oil spray In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup chopped walnuts, and ¾ cup melted butter. Stir well, and set aside. Place 1 ½ cups white sugar and 2 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon in a gallon-sized zip-lock bag. Close the top, holding it together with your hands and shake the bag until the mixture is well-blended. Now, open your refrigerated biscuits, and remove the biscuits from the first can. Separate the biscuits from each other, and cut each biscuit into four equal quadrants. Place the biscuit ...
