Bunyip coming to Gungahlin Statue campaign pays off Alexander Bunyip from the famous childrens book The Monster that ate Canberra will be immortalised in bronze outside the new Gungahlin Library. The Gungahlin Community Councils campaign for a public art piece recognising the popular childrens book by Michael Salmon has been successful, with ACT Chief Minister Jon Stanhope approving the idea for a sculpture. This is the book that introduced many Canberra children to reading, by allowing us to relate the book back to local monuments we knew so well, said GCC President Alan Kerlin. GCC suggested such a statue would be ideally located outside the new Gungahlin Library currently under construction on the corner of Hibberson and Gozzard Streets in the Gungahlin town centre. From this location, pedestrians can look down Gozzard Street straight to the Telstra Tower on Black Mountain, which Alexander Bunyip thought was a double yum ice cream sundae with nuts on top and so proceeded to eat it. I am taken with the Gungahlin Community Councils proposal and believe an artfully executed sculpture of the bunyip placed outside the new Gungahlin Library would be a very popular addition to the town centres landscape, said Jon Stanhope in his reply. The bunyip is certainly an icon for those of us who lived in Canberra during the 1970s and 80s, and still features prominently on the shelves of our public libraries, he said. The idea for the statue came during a lively debate on the Canberra ...
Hi Goldiestarling, Shark, and Deannario! I think all of you lovely ladies are so talented and if videos are any indication- you all seem genuinely kind- we all know you certainly are creatively brilliant. This is my first Contest entry into your Pixar inspired Makeup contest. I created a wearable look based on Monster's Inc. that I explain in the video. When you announced this contest I got so excited! I love Pixar animation and my first thought was it's down to Nemo or Monsters. That's a hard one- but I chose monsters for my first entry because I just watched the movie for the millionth time with my little cousin (who's 3)- and I think I laughed harder than her. :) Yes I'm a dork. I hope you all enjoy the entry- and I would love feedback from all of you if possible. Thanks so much! Music : The Monster Song- Psapp Copyright of Psapp Monster's Inc. This year We Are the Strange comes to the Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema - www.wfac.ca - We Are the Strange is an independent animated film directed by M dot Strange. It uses stop motion, CG artwork, and greenscreen effects. The film premiered on January 19, 2007 at the Sundance Film Festival. We Are the Strange focuses on "two diametrically opposed outcasts" as they "fight for survival in a sinister fantasy world." These two outcasts are an abused woman named Blue who has a mysterious degenerative disease and a living doll named emmm. The two meet in the Forest of Still Life, where Blue follows emmm to Stopmo City on a search for his ideal ice cream parlor. Upon arriving in Stopmo City, they are caught in the middle of a fierce battle between bizarre monsters, making their progress difficult. Thankfully, a hero named Rain appears and easily destroys every monster that faces him. Blue meets Rain before he partakes in an "impossible battle against the source of all that is evil in Stopmo City." During the battle, Rain, along with Ori are crushed by Him after Rain states he wants to avenge his son. When the outlook seems grim, a fist made of aluminum foil breaks through the ground and starts the final showdown between good and evil. Six alternate soundtracks and author's commentary, including soundtrack by Noise Inc. are available on the DVD. The music used in We Are the Strange Trailer has been made by chiptune artist YERZMYEY/AY-RIDERS (a cover of tatu's "30 minut ...

Read Description for Bio. Swollen Members is a Canadian hip hop group hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, consisting principally of the duo Mad Child and Prevail. They have been called "two of the most innovative people in hip-hop". This trawl through the vaults of the Vancouver-based hip-hop collective Swollen Members is unusual for a collection of B-sides and leftovers -- in that it ends up being more forward- than backward-looking. That's because the underground stalwarts -- Mad Child and Prevail, plus recent addition Moka Only -- decided to record a few new songs to fill out the disc, which ends up pointing the way to possible commercial successes previously undreamed of. "Breath," with its hook from Nelly Furtado and a juicy R&B foundation, could slot comfortably between the latest Murder Inc. and P. Diddy hits on a mix tape, while the manic "Battle Axe Exclusive" rages along in true Eminem fashion. Such moments won't necessarily be a pleasant surprise for the Members' devoted fanbase, but the remainder of Monsters in the Closet provides a generous helping of the less-conventional musical ambition that has won the group comparisons to Jurassic 5, Dilated Peoples, and other old-school revivalists. There's one true gem -- "Long Way Down," a sensitive love song that samples Sarah mclachlan's "Ice Cream" -- and many outtakes of better-than-average quality; though they aren't all monsters, they certainly deserve to come out of hiding. ~ Dan leroy, All Music Guide ...
