Today, the game was officially re-announced as simply "Mortal Kombat." The game will remain polygonal, but will (finally) return to its 2D roots. Mortal Kombat is being developed by the newly renamed NetherRealm Entertainment, which is a snappier moniker than "WB Games Chicago," the name the team took on after the transition away from Midway, was. Despite all of the name changes, this is still the Chicago-based team led by Ed Boon, one of the creators of the series. Here's what he had to say in the game's announcement. Mortal Kombat is scheduled for release in 2011 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Wow, I could not believe how dark the non-official trailer was, is this for a game release or a movie release. Who knows, but it's interesting and crazy. NOTE: BECAUSE OF THE VIOLENT NATURE OF THIS TRAILER, CERTAIN SCENES HAVE BEEN BLURED BECAUSE OF KIDS THAT SURF YOUTUBE DAILY. MOST OF US WHO KNOW MORTAL KOMBAT FROM EARLY TO MID 90'S AGREE, IT IS BLOODY. I put this video up because I love movie montages, and am big fan of the MK World. I don't want to link to the source only because the kids can then watch it, and makes no sense. Swagger Concepts is trying to provide a clean video here for the masses. Thank you, and enjoy! Is this real or what? Please leave your comments below.
Yo i saw this online so im going to upload it for you guys to watch and enjoy, this could be a live action trailer for the new game because the rights to this game did get sold or it could be the remake of the mortal kombat movies with a gritty and realistic look we will have to wait and see mabye at E3 we might see somthing, it even could be both and then movie games might actually be good for once. im hoping for both let me know what you think below peace:) sorry about quality my pc messed up when rendering but still it looks great uploading more soon

Awesome trailer for a what is probably going to be a new Mortal Kombat movie
Join the Facebook Group: www.facebook.com Speculation has run rampant today with the debut of a short "Mortal Kombat" film (subtitled "Rebirth") that made its way anonymously to YouTube. Now, Latino Review reports that the film is, as many theorized, a test for a potential R-rated film reboot of the video game franchise. The short is directed by Kevin Tancharoen, the director of last year's Fame, and features a cast that includes name actors like Michael Jai White (Jax), Jeri Ryan (Sonya Blade), Matt Mullins (Johnny Cage), Lateef Crowder (Baraka) and Ian Anthony Dale (Scorpion) with fight choreography by Larnell Stovall.
MORTAL KOMBAT MOVIE TRAILER 2010
A viral video has hit today that's spreading like wildfire because it plays like a trailer for Warner Bros. upcoming reboot of the "Mortal Kombat" franchise. This professionally made clip starring Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan also includes multiple decapitations, cannibalism, mutated people and a much darker and grittier sense to it than the previous two fantasy/action films based on the video game. As for its origins? The clip first emerged on YouTube under the name 'MortalKombatRebirth' and is apparently a proof-of-concept reel that film director Kevin Tancharoen ("Fame") put together with the help of fight sequence co-ordinator Larnell Stovall ("Undisputed III").
SHORT VIDEO CLIP OF AN UPCOMING PROJECT
BRAND NEW FOOTAGE & PROMO FOR THE NEW MORTAL KOMBAT MOVIE. TO BE RELEASED IN 2010. Info: Mortal Kombat is a movie franchise that has been missing one thing - the blood and guts that we all loved from the video games. Now it looks as if we're going to finally get the rated 'R' reboot we fans deserve. Kotaku has the first look at the Mortal Kombat test video shot for Warner Brothers to get funding for a full blown hard 'R' MK movie. Yes, this is the direction they plan on going for the Mortal Kombat reboot. And I've got the exclusive goods on who played who. * The short was directed by Kevin Tancharoen, who did the remake of Fame last year. Judging from this short, Kevin is the perfect director for this movie. * Jacks is played by Michael Jai White. Michael played Spawn and was in Undisputed II. Michael makes a great Jacks (Jax). * Sonya Blade is played by Jeri Ryan, who played Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager. * Baraka was played by the very talented Lateef Crowder, who plays the Brazilian fighter in Undisputed III. * Scorpion is played by Ian Anthony Dale. Ian plays Kazuya in the upcoming big screen version of Tekken. * Johnny Cage was played by up and coming martial arts sensation Matt Mullins. * Still working on who played Reptile. Will update when I find out. * The fight choreography was done by Larnell Stovall. Larnell did the fight choreography for Undisputed III and is one of the best fight choreographers in the business. You want to see the fights you deserve ...
Live-action trailer for the next video game? Preview of the alleged Warner Bros. reboot? Either way, Mortal Kombat has never looked so good! Kevin Tancharoen directed this short, with Michael Jai White as Jax, Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade, Lateef Crowder as Baraka, Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion, Matt Mullins as Johnny Cage, Richard Dorton as Reptile. Matt Mullins said in an interview: "The truth is, the short is about showing a vision of what the next Mortal Kombat movie can be. I think it is a very well thought out concept that pays homage to the video game and its fans. The attention to detail and the little elements added will set this film apart from all the other films. I think this new vision has a very fresh look at the franchise and brings it the movie back to the gritty and violent nature that made Mortal Kombat game so popular. Kevin is very passionate about the project (as the rest of us are) and this short is only a taste of things to come." Source: CraveOnline
There is some serious talent in this movie. Michael Jay White is a straight up KILLER is is better trained and has more black belts then most of the UFC fighters you watch so he means business as Jax! By far my favourite straight up action star.

New Mortal Kombat trailer. Six minutes of the new Mortal Kombat movie. "Just under eight minutes of something related to Mortal Kombat has been posted on YouTube. The video features Jax -- sans cybernetic arms -- grilling a mysterious perp in a police station. Through some (laborious) exposition, he describes new humanized (and gross) versions of Reptile and Baraka, along with Johnny Cage and a young, beardless Shang Tsung. At first glance, one might assume it's footage from the new, possibly derailed Mortal Kombat movie. Another possibility, given the video's proximity to E3 and its introductory nature, is that this is a tease for the next Mortal Kombat game. Furthermore, the name of the newly created YouTube account is MortalKombatRebirth, which sounds like a perfectly suitable title for a new entry in the series. A third and altogether frightening possibility: This is all a prelude to a new movie / game tie-in. We know Warner Bros. is interested in the franchise, so it's safe to assume something is on the horizon. We've contacted WBIE for more info. One way or another, it seems likely we'll hear more by next week." Source: www.joystiq.com
This is the trailer for the new Mortal Kombat movie/game. Some have said that it might be for the new videogame, personally I think it's for a new Mortal Kombat movie. Check out the article at Kotaku to find out more about it. EDIT: It turns out that this is not an official movie trailer or game trailer, but a movie pitch from the new director to sell to WB to show what a reboot of the MK movie would be like. Here's an article for more info: kotaku.com
