Cordless Phones Health Risks : www.emfnews.org Envi Air Tube Headset : www.emfnews.org www.emfnews.org Mumbai Mirror had reported in July 2009, with the help of an EMR-measuring agency, how five of the seven important locations in the heart of the city - like Mantralaya, Marine Drive, World Trade Centre and Breach Candy hospital - threw unacceptably high levels of mobile tower radiation. The city has a very high number of cellphone towers, and residents have complained about health hazards. Loss of habitat Khot points out that honeybees need a specific habitat for their survival. "The large fruit trees that once adorned the city have disappeared, the architecture of buildings has changed, the lofts and crevices have given way to glass facades. Where will the bees make hives now?" Wildlife biologist Anand Pendharkar says while Mumbaikars enjoyed their fix of honey, they were quick to destroy hives. No food, no nectar Pendharkar says, "Mumbai's residents prefer ornamental plants. As a result, 60 per cent of the city's green cover is comprised of exotic trees. For honeybees, these are as good as 'plastic' as they cannot draw nectar from them. Trees like Jamun, Jackfruit, Neem, Mango and flowers like Champa and others provide nectar for the bees. But we hardly find these varieties in Mumbai any more." Heat and pollution Another factor endangering the bees is the increasing heat and pollution in the city. Deputy Director, Maharashtra Nature Park, Avinash Kubal says, "The ...

In a city where vanity often precedes all other virtues, here is a cautionary tale for those for whom the mirror dominates all other concerns. Thirty-five-year-old Aryan Vaid, who started his career by winning the hunky Mr. India pageant in 2000, has admitted to Mumbai Mirror that abusing his body with a hair-loss pill and exhaustive two-and-a-half hour workouts have cost him his virility. Vaid's testosterone levels have dipped alarmingly and his energy levels have been low for the last several months. He realised the gravity of the situation only a few weeks ago. My testosterone levels have come down. They are hinging on the borderline now. I am paying the price for abusing my body, admitted Vaid. I used to hit the gym for nearly two-and-a-half hours every day. I used to get very tired but I never realised where I was heading. My body started releasing cortisol, one of the two parts of the adrenal gland. This began neutering my testosterone levels. I did not pay much attention to this, until I started getting symptoms associated with high blood pressure. In addition, an anti-balding drug has played havoc with Vaid's system. There was some hair fall in the front, on the right side. I started taking a drug, which I thought would prevent hair loss. It worked as well, but my doctors said that this drug too was one of the reasons why my testosterone levels dropped, he said. When contacted, sexologist Rajan Bhonsle confirmed the potential adverse effects of too much exercise ...

One of the most talked about estranged couple in Bollywood seems to be on the road to reconciliation. Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor were spotted together on Friday night with a few of their close friends. The former lovers had gone to see a night show of Deepika's latest release Housefull in a Juhu theatre. Once they entered the auditorium, Ranbir and Deepika sat next to each other. Onlookers say that the two looked quite comfortable together and were seen chatting merrily throughout the film. Everybody present in the theatre was visibly surprised when Deepika and Ranbir walked into the multiplex at 10.30 pm. They saw the 10.45 pm show of Housefull. The audience was quite distracted on seeing them together but it was fun, says a source. A source from the multiplex confirmed the story. After they parted ways sometime in October last year, Deepika and Ranbir have been in touch off and on, but they haven't met publicly since then. It may be recalled that the estranged couple got talking again late last year at a party hosted by jewellery designer Maheep Kapoor and fashion designer Nandita Mahtani. The two have never made a public appearance together after their break up. So, this one came as a shocker, adds the source. On December 4, last year, Ranbir had told Mumbai Mirror that he hoped he and Deepika would get back together. We wonder if his wish will soon come true. It is difficult to say if Deepika and Ranbir are developing romantic feelings for each other once ...

Video created by 2lidia.(Thanks 2lidia) On February 18,2010, Mumbair Mirror published a story on Aishwarya Rai in which Mr. Bachchan himself said is "completely false, completely fabricated, unsubstantiated, insensitive and of the lowest quality of journalism there ever was." For those wondering what the story was it was speculation on Aishwarya Rai's health which was disrespectful and insensitive. I won't go further into it because its not deserving of it. Aishwarya Rai followed up with a written letter to Mumbai Mirror denying the story and demanding a re traction and a apology. So how do MM respond?! They only publish half of Aishwarya's letter and DO NOT offer an apology or retraction! Abhishek Bachchan has also written on his twitter account how angry and upset he is that the media can print such stories on his family. Below is only half of Aishwarya's statement since MM chose NOT to publish the rest of it. If you are as upset as many are please contact Times Of India (Owner)or Mumbai Mirror asking for them to retract and apologize for publishing such a story. After his acrimonious spat between Javed Akhtar (reported in Mumbai Mirror), an upset Aamir Khan has now tendered his resignation from the committee reviewing the proposed amendment in copyright laws. Apparently Aamir feels that since everyone in the committee seems to have a problem with his suggestions, he should not be a part of the process. Our source said, The committee was formed on January 4 after a meeting with Kapil Sibal. Boney Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Bhushan Kumar, Vishal Bhardwaj, Madhu Mantena, Prasoon Joshi were in the committee. Aamir was the only actor in it. Everyone knows that when Aamir gets into something, he gets completely involved, just like he did during the multiplex versus producers fight. However, this time he felt that all his time and effort were a waste because some people werent happy with his inputs on the issue. He also felt that people were just targeting him despite the fact that he had nothing to gain out of the matter. So after he read some reports in the media, he just decided to distance himself from it. He sent his resignation to Kapil Sibal yesterday evening. In his letter to Sibal, Aamir wrote that though he felt he had a lot to contribute, I cannot make any meaningful contribution in this atmosphere. Aggression of this type leaves me feeling very disillusioned and sad and I am unable to function. At the same time, Aamir applauded the move to amend the copyright law. He told Sibal, I believe that amendments to the Copyright Act are ...
After all that heat and dust about Kareena Kapoors size zero frame, most of her fans - and even the actress herself - seem to agree that a few curves definitely dont hurt. But unfortunately, no one seems to have asked beau Saif Ali Khan. Apparently the Chote Nawab strongly subscribes to leaner-the-better school of thought. And lets not forget, the romance between Bebo and Saif had blossomed on the sets of Tashan, when she was almost threatening to slip from size zero to practically negative territory. So convinced is Saif that his girlfriends slimmer version was better, hes not refraining from pressing his case with Kareena. Recently, both stars were present to perform at Chitrakoot Grounds in Andheri. They had separate items. First Saif performed and then it was Kareenas turn. But Saif stayed backstage all through Kareenas dance. Immediately after, as she was making her way backstage, Saif got up to applaud her. But as the couple made their way out together, he couldnt resist telling her, I think you need to lose some weight, yaar. It may be a private joke between the couple, because Kareena seemed to take it pretty sportingly. Even when Mumbai Mirror called up to ask what exactly had transpired that day, Bebo countered, I am happy to have gained a bit. Dont you think I needed to? Yes. But Saif Ali Khan remained unavailable for comment

Karan Singh Grover has his ex-wife and the producers of Dill Mill Gayye puzzled. Apparently, he used to tell his wife Shraddha Nigam before their separation (as reported by Mumbai Mirror, October 6) that he was leaving for a 9am shoot but would only reach the sets at 4pm. Meanwhile, the production house suffered as Karan spent much less time shooting than he was committed to. Now, the producers, Cinevistaa, have filed a complaint against him with CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes Association) and will sue him to cover their losses of about Rs 2 crore. Karan would often turn up late or not reports to the sets, even though Shraddha thought he was diligently slaving over his shoots. Not so long ago, Shraddha called up Cinevistaa for some work and asked for Karan, only to learn that he hadn't shown up. Cinevistaa's Managing Director, Sunil Mehta confirmed that his company has written to CINTAA complaining about Karan Grover. He said, We've written to CINTAA telling them about Karan's behaviour and the fact that we plan to sue him. He used to come at 4pm for a 9am shift and would leave by 10pm. My company has suffered a loss of over Rs 2 crore. We definitely intend to sue him. Shraddha was scandalised when my son told her that he has not reported for work, when she thought he'd left for a 9am shift. At one point of time, we had thought of making a film with him as the lead actor. Now, Karan's film with Mukesh Bhatt is not happening. Ditto for his film with UTV. Success, fame ...
What do the stars in the morning wake-up to? What do they start their day with? No, its not tea or coffee or for that matter, the gym, but a tabloid named Mumbai Mirror. Mumbai Mirror recently celebrated its 2nd anniversary with huge pomp and show. The party was flooded with celebrities, big and small and the event was a huge success. Speaking about the celebrities who attended the show, Madhur Bhandarkar, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kangana Ranawat, Sameera Reddy, Himesh Reshamiya, Raveena Tandon, Rajiv Khandelwaal, Chunkey Pandey and many more were present on the occasion. If one is to believe the Indian claim that ten young militants engaged more than 3000 of Indias top commandoes, intelligence and police officials for 60 hours and killed 200 people in Mumbai city, then we must seriously be worried about the safety of Indias nuclear arsenal, radioactive material, and nuclear power plants. Two prominent experts on Pakistan and India today expressed their fear that if ten militants in their early twenties can hold a city of 15 million people, which houses a number of sensitive nuclear and radio-active plants, then how safe are Indias nukes. According to reports, two of Indias most important nuclear installations are located near Mumbai. Tarapurs two 160 MW nuclear plants are already functioning near Trombay while two more 500 MW PHWRs power plants are under construction near Mumbay itself. These two plants are designed to work as fuel fabrication facilities and are not safeguarded under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) nor effectively protected. Indias Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and a number of other nuclear plants and uranium conversion facilities (UF6) are also not part of IAEA safeguards. A fuel fabrication facility is also not far from the city and is considered unsafe by most accounts. What surprised India experts is the fact that militants reportedly entered the city on boats crossing the eyes of the Indian navy and marines and carried not only heavy arms but also tens of kilograms of military- standard RDX ...
