The Charlotte Motor Speedway was host to the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 pre-race event that paid tribute to the men and women of the military Memorial Day weekend. Fly-bys from current military aircraft dating back to World War II P-51's and B-17 Bombers were part of the tribute. Soldiers from Ft. Bragg performed a '21-Gun salute' and played 'Taps' while the entire crowd was silent, remembering veterans and those currently serving in our Armed Forces. All of this led into a moving rendition of 'Amazing Grace' on the bagpipes by the Charlotte Fire Department Pipes and Drum Band.

The whole race in 11 minutes.
I just achieved one more thing from my "bucket list". I went to a Nascar race. I documented my experience on film. The first part of the video is pictures and the last part is audio. I attended the Coca Cola 600 in Concord, NC. Its one of the biggest races. There was a huge crowd. It was Memorial day weekend so there were a lot of events to honor the troops. We had awesome seats. We were on Row 18 in the Chrysler section. We got lucky and was able to get the really expensive seats for a good deal on Craigslist. We could watch the action happening on pit road and see the whole track. Kurt Busch won the race.
