FORMULA 1 ING AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX (Melbourne) Season 2008/03/16 Official summary of the race Melbourne: When Formula One came to Australia in 1985 it set up home in Adelaide. However, ex-racer-turned-entrepreneur Bob Jane wanted a race in Melbourne. He created a huge "thunderdome" and invented the AUSCAR series, bringing NASCAR action to Australia. The desire to have a race in Melbourne did not wane. Despite the popular end of season slot for the Adelaide race, pressure was growing from the Melbourne motor sport community, and in 1992 Jeff Kennett was elected the new premier of the State of Victoria. He immediately set about improving Melbourne's profile. First on his list was the Australian Grand Prix. An agreement was reached with Formula One in 1993, but the contract with Adelaide did not expire until 1995, so Kennett had plenty of time to prepare. A track was developed in Melbourne's beautiful Albert Park, part of it using closed-off public roads, and in 1996 the city held the first round of the World Championship. Since then, the venue has become the home of Formula One's season opener. The race is very popular with drivers and fans alike, and the party atmosphere of Melbourne keeps them coming back year after year. Race Date: 16 Mar 2008 Number of Laps: 58 Circuit Length: 5.303 km Race Distance: 307.574 km Lap Record: 1:24.125 - M Schumacher (2004) 1st - Lewis hamilton 2nd - Nick Heidfield 3rd - Nico Rosberg --------------------- 4th - Fernando Alonso *Solo 6 pilotos terminaron la carrera. *Only 6 pilots ended the race. PLEASE READ BEFORE WATCHING. I posted this before. But I removed so I could make room for better videos. But today, I will re-upload this. This is the rivalry, which started in 2000 at Daytona between Robby Gordon & Tony Stewart. In 2009, Gordon will drive the #7 Jim Beam Toyota Camry for Robby Gordon Motorsports, while Tony will drive the #14 Old Spice/Office Depot Chevrolet Imapla SS for Stewart-Haas Racing after spending 10 years at Joe Gibbs Racing driving the #20 Home Depot Pontiac/Chevrolet/Toyota. Their rivalry started at Daytona International Speedway in 2000. During practice for the Daytona 500, Gordon (then driving the #13 Menards Ford For Team Gordon) tried to make a pass on Stewart (#20) coming out of Turn 2. But as Gordon later claimed, Stewart "did not let him make his pass", tapped him & Gordon spun & damaged his car. After parking his car in his team garage, Gordon stormed into Stewart's garage to tell him that he didn't let him make his pass. Stewart then said, "Go race in other series until you know how to race in Winston Cup". Next, Stewart shoved him & as Gordon turned to retaliate, 4-6 members of Stewart's crew tried to break up the fight by pushing Gordon away & the crew left a cut by Gordon's mouth. Two years later, Gordon & Stewart had an on-track altercation at The Glen where they bumped each other a few times. Enjoy!

Click "watch in HIGH QUALITY" below the video. The quality is baaad if you don't. A great pair of friends, on and off the track. Jeff Gordon came to NASCAR in 1992. Jimmie Johnson arrived in 2001, and Jeff, as a Hendrick Motorsports teammate, taught Jimmie all about racing. He may have taught him a little too much, LOL. Jimmie just won 3 straight chanpionships. But, anyway, here's the 2 best racers in NASCAR.

Hear from both drivers in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, and Jimmie Johnson's crew chief, Chad Knaus, gives you the keys to winning at NASCAR's smallest track.

Mike Skinner beat Erik Darnell by .02 seconds in a drag race to the line in the Qwik Liner 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway but Johnny Benson stole the headlines as his 74-point advantage in the points standings evaporated in the blink of an eye. Benson crashed after blowing his right-front tire on Lap 65, sending him hard into the wall. The team tried to repair the damage but quickly decided they wouldn't be able to and Benson posted a DNF for just the second time this season, finishing 27th. Defending Truck Series champ Ron Hornaday took advantage of Benson's woes, finishing fifth and moving 73 points closer in the standings, trailing Benson by just one point as the series heads to Talladega in two weeks. The race was halted by a record 12 cautions, forcing the race to go to a green-white-checkered finish. Darnell held the lead on the restart, but before the white flag came out, Skinner was able to pass him. On the final lap, Darnell made a big run in Turns 3 and 4 but Skinner beat Darnell down the straightaway for his first win on the season Matt Crafton, John Andretti and Hornaday rounded out the top five. More fireworks came courtesy of Jack Sprague and Brendan Gaughan. Gaughan drifted up into the left-rear of Sprague on Lap 78, sending Sprague into the wall, ending his night. As Sprague climbed out of his car, he pushed a NASCAR official away from him and walked up the track towards Gaughan, who was driving with the rest of the field under caution. Sprague pointed at Gaughan and threw his hands in the air, with Gaughan driving by pointing at Sprague. Gaughan was able to continue and finished 20th while Sprague came home 26th with his first DNF of the season. Credit: NASCAR.com

Located in Western Maryland, the Frederick Wine Trail showcases six different wineries in Frederick County. Some are old and some are new but all of them share the same unique terrain for making great wine.
Went up to Richmond to see the cup race today. The weather was fantastic and the circuit was packed. We did all the usual stuff. We toured the teeshirt trailers, ate some corndogs, drank some beer, and yelled for our favorite drivers. Being a Virginian, I of course support Denny Hamlin #11. After the race we booked and now I am home watching the start of the Nationwide Race and eating some cjili I made yesterday. Another great day at the track. I hope you enjoy this in spite of the fact that I didn't put much time into putting it together.
