www.twitter,com www.facebook.com you all can follow us on facebook and guys JAKARTA, Indonesia - A video of smoking toddler is sparking outrage on the web. When the clip of 2-year-old Sumatran Ardi Rizal puffing away surfaced on YouTube Wednesday, it spread to online social media like, well, fire. Popular blog Gawker linked to the smoking baby video, calling him "totally cooler than you." But user Faldo777's response was the more typical response: "His parents should be jailed ..." In fact, his parents say Rizal throws a tantrum when they refuse to give him a cigarette. His father gave him his first smoke when he was just 18 months old. The smoking toddler was witnessed by a reporter who recently visited his home in the fishing village of Musi Banyuasin, in Indonesia's South Sumatra province. "I'm not worried about his health, he looks healthy," shrugged the boy's father Mohammad Rizal. "He cries and throws tantrums when we don't let him smoke. He's addicted." Rizal isn't the first smoking youngster caught on tape. In March, a video of a 4-year-old Indonesian boy blowing smoke rings appeared briefly on YouTube, prompting outcries before it was removed from the site. Disturbing trend Ardi's youth is the extreme of a disturbing trend in Indonesia. Data from the Central Statistics Agency showed 25 percent of Indonesian children ages 3-to-15 have tried cigarettes, with 3.2 percent of those active smokers. The percentage of 5- to 9-year-olds lighting up increased from 0.4 ...
2010 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship Gets Underway In New Zealand It was lights, camera and action for the worlds greatest junior event for under 18 year old surfers, with the 2010 edition of the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship getting underway in New Zealand. After a moving opening ceremony full of traditional New Zealand culture in Aucklands Mission Bay yesterday, contest organizers opted to run the opening rounds of the Under 18 (Podium 2) and Under 16 (Podium 1) boy's heats in rising 4 ft (1-1.2m) beach break conditions. The days action representing the first time that teams from Indonesia, Vanuatu and Fiji competed in the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship. Indonesia Team Coach and Manager Tipi Jabrick said he was proud to be leading Team Indonesia into their maiden ISA junior event. Were really excited, especially for the kids, said Jabrick. Its a really good experience for them, but its not easy for us to travel here. Hopefully we can continue competing in the juniors and the other ISA events. Jabrick had reason to smile with Jeren Kiring progressing in second place behind the USAs Jake Halstead in heat six of the U/16 boys division. He trumped local surfer Elliot Paerata-Reid causing one of todays biggest upset. Were really happy because one of our surfers made it, said Jabrick. Hopefully thats going to encourage the other boys to do well. Because if one kid makes it, the other boys want to. Jabrick added that Fiji ...

CHRISTMAS DAY 2009 An incident on an airliner arriving in Detroit from the Netherlands was an attempted terrorist attack, a senior administration official told the BBC. Sources say a man tried to blow up the jet with 278 passengers on board, but was subdued and taken into custody. No-one was seriously hurt. The suspect said he had been acting on behalf of al-Qaeda, a police source told the Associated Press news agency. President Barack Obama has ordered increased security for air travel. We heard a little pop, then a bit of a smoke and then some flames and yelling and screaming and then somebody said the guy was subdued White House spokesman Bill Burton said the president was monitoring the situation. US and Dutch media report that the suspect is a Nigerian national studying in London. A source described by the Associated Press as a "senior US counter-terror official" said the passenger had been planning to blow up the plane but the device failed.
We already knew this was going to be a White Xmas. In Belgium everyone expected the snow except for...Zaventem Luchthaven. Maybe because of the changing weather (Kobenhavn is still fresh in our minds), someone thinks Belgium has got a tropical weather, where the snow falls once in a decade for a couple of hours and then suddenly melts to water...aehm... The images you see are an example of the first stages of the black chaotic day at the Terminals of Zaventem (Bruxelles). The worst was that no one was able to tell you what was happening: flights were at first delayed, then, after two hours, cancelled. No one of the airport showed up to explain or apologize, it was impossible to get back your luggages and we experienced 10 hours of rows and lines, even without the pleasure of a smoke to get rid of your frustration... Back home I checked the official website of the society which manages the Airport: - Due to the large number of visitors, only part of brusselsairport.be is accessible for the moment. We apologise for any inconvenience. - Brussel is supposed to be the capital of Europe: is it possible that some snow can block the whole air traffic? Rather, is it possible that someone knows that there will be problems and does nothing to prevent it?

original url www.ktvn.com A national organization says Nevada is currently a hot spot for UFO activity. And it says one is ongoing with video evidence and witnesses. The town of Ely lies near the center of this case and investigators think that mining and electrical power may play a key. Mark Easter is the head of the state wing for MUFON the Mutual UFO Network. Its Easters job to be the boots on the ground in UFO sightings throughout Nevada. He has to separate possible fact from fantasy and he says people who see objects are not always happy with his findings. The reason being is we do follow a code of ethics. Were gong tell you we try to identify. Easter says 95% of sightings can be explained as manmade or naturally occurring phenomena. Its the 5% we should wonder about. So what is out there? I dont know what it is. I dont profess to know what it is. I dont blow smoke. Easter says more and more people in this high-tech age, common everyday people are shooting video of very uncommon activity in the skies. For instance, in one video an orb clearly moves across the night sky in an unidentified location. Trees come into the foreground to give it scale. Another video shot in the same location on a different date clearly shows a UFO zig zagging - therefore not a plane or swampgas. Easter says this evidence lies in the 5%. This puts it up a notch when you have physical evidence. We need to have the physical evidence to take the investigation further. And even science is taking ...

Change Your Clock Change Your Battery® November 1, 2009. International Association of Fire Chiefs Celebrates 22 Years of a Life Saving Reminder: Change Your Clock Change Your Battery® International Association of Fire Chief's Vice President Fire Chief Jack Parow from Chelmsford Fire & Rescue (Massachusetts) Twenty-two years ago, the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and Energizer came up with an idea that has likely saved thousands of homes and perhaps as many lives. On average, 40 percent of home fire deaths result from fires in homes without working smoke alarms. In fact, a home fire death occurs somewhere in the nation approximately every three hours. Because hardly anyone neglects to change their clocks during Daylight-Savings Time, the International Association of Fire Chiefs and Energizer decided to urge Americans through the Change Your Clock Change Your Battery® program to use the extra hour to change their smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detectors batteries. This year, the day to set your clocks back and change batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors is November 1st. The Change Your Clock Change Your Battery program has more than 6200 fire departments nationwide participating in the program. And as a result, many Americans have gotten into the habit of changing their batteries at the same time they change their clocks. Each year we urge Americans to adopt this life-saving habit in hopes of saving just one life, said Chief Jeff ...
Baghdad, Iraq At least 132 people were killed and 520 wounded in twin suicide car bombings in central Baghdad Sunday, officials said -- the deadliest attack on civilians in Iraq this year. Two car bombs detonated in quick succession near Iraqi government buildings about 10:30 am, an Interior Ministry official said. One of the bombs exploded outside Baghdad's governorate building and the second one outside the Justice Ministry, about 500 meters (1600 feet) away. Plumes of smoke billowed from the sites of the attacks as victims fled, some with blood streaming down their faces. The streets were strewn with debris, including charred cars and chunks of concrete from damaged buildings. Some government buildings and others in the area were heavily damaged. The bombings came a day after the US ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, visited the country for the first time, and on the same day Iraqi officials were due to try to break a logjam holding up a new election law. Iraqis are supposed to go to the polls in January, but parliament still has not passed the legislation, putting the balloting in limbo. Iraq's parliament failed Wednesday to reach agreement on a new electoral law, so the issue was supposed go to the Political Council for National Security on Sunday. It is not clear if the bombings will derail the political council's discussions. Rice completed a two-day visit to Iraq on Saturday that included a condolence stop at the Foreign Ministry, where a huge bombing ...

PITTSBURGH Police fired canisters of pepper spray and smoke at marchers protesting the Group of 20 summit Thursday after anarchists responded to calls to disperse by rolling trash bins and throwing rocks. The march turned chaotic at just about the time that President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama arrived for a meeting with leaders of the world's major economies. The clashes began after hundreds of protesters, many advocating against capitalism, tried to march from an outlying neighborhood toward the convention center where the summit is being held. The protesters banged on drums and chanted "Ain't no power like the power of the people, 'cause the power of the people don't stop." The marchers included small groups of self-described anarchists, some wearing dark clothes and bandanas and carrying black flags. Others wore helmets and safety goggles. One banner read, "No borders, no banks," another, "No hope in capitalism." A few minutes into the march, protesters unfurled a large banner reading "NO BAILOUT NO CAPITALISM" with an encircled "A," a recognized sign of anarchists. The marchers did not have a permit and, after a few blocks, police declared it an unlawful assembly. They played an announcement over a loudspeaker telling people to leave or face arrest and then police in riot gear moved in to break it up. Protesters split into smaller groups. Some rolled large metal trash bins toward police, and a man in a black hooded sweat shirt threw rocks at a police ...

Representatives of Argentina, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, Great Britain, Paraguay and the United States carried national flags as they walked alongside the Chilean military. The celebration marks the South American nations bicentennial anniversary. It recognizes September 18, 1810 as the date when Santiago natives declared their independence from colonial rule.

Day 1: 1st September 2009 On a evening safari as usual... We were exiting the forests to enter from the other side and Kiran ( JLR ) noticed smoke from a bush below a tree.. It had rained so we were wondering how a fire could start... he got down and cautiously approached and immediately out of shock or fear waves at us to come and check it out.. Couldnt believe what I was seeing then... A mentally ill middle aged lady sleeping below the tree and she was so well camouflaged that the smoke from the fire she lit was the only thing that blew her cover... She had a cover in her hand and a towel... God knows how she started the fire.. We put the fire away using water and we decided to get her on our jeep and take her to the Bandipur Reception so that they can move her out of harms way... The guests in our jeep feared to share a seat so had to leave my seat for that lady whom we drove back and dropped at the Bandipur reception as we were missed seeing a tiger just a few mins before from where we found this lady.. We dropped her and we were asked to drop her towards civilization, so we asked the guys there (forest dept staff) to keep an eye on her so that we can finish out safari and pick her up on our way back to drop outside the reserve.. We finished our safari and came back for her... and to my shock, no one was there and the ones who were there said she walked back towards the park... We didnt know what to do or where to look so had to go back to the camp. Day 2: 2nd ...
As we were driving back from the falls we noticed the fire had grown much bigger since the previous day. Such a scary yet mesmerizing scene.

What A Teen's Day Can Be Like / Anti-Marijuana Anti-Pot Educational Video PSA. PSA Commercial from Office of National Drug Control Policy / Partnership for a Drug Free American. Public Domain Public Service Announcement. Children and young teens start using marijuana for many reasons. Curiosity and the desire to fit into a social group are common reasons. Certainly, youngsters who have already begun to smoke cigarettes and/or use alcohol are at high risk for marijuana use. Also, research suggests that the use of alcohol and drugs by other family members plays a strong role in whether children start using drugs. Parents, grandparents, and older brothers and sisters in the home are models for children to follow. Some young people who take drugs do not get along with their parents. Some have a network of friends who use drugs and urge them to do the same (peer pressure). All aspects of a child's environment - home, school, neighborhood - help to determine whether the child will try drugs. Children who become more heavily involved with marijuana can become dependent, and that is their prime reason for using the drug. Others mention psychological coping as a reason for their use - to deal with anxiety, anger, depression, boredom, and so forth. But marijuana use is not an effective method for coping with life's problems, and staying high can be a way of simply not dealing with the problems and challenges of growing up. Researchers have found that children and teens (both male ...

A early AM (0100) single alram fire was quickly extinguished by the National City California Fire Dept along with units from Chula Vista and the Federal Fire Department. The fire was contained mostly to a converted garage. There were four sleeping occupants and a pet dog at home at the time of the fire. A alert neighbor noticed the smoke coming from the house and assisted the occupants from the burning house and notified the Fire Department by dailing 911. Thanks to the quick action of the neighbor I am happy to report there were no reported injuries. The occupant of the burning house stated that a mattress left in the alley south of the residence was set on fire the other day but was quickly extinguished. The same mattress was found at this fire in the backyard of the fire damaged residence. Arson is suspected and the National City Fire and Police Departments are investigating.
The Oregon National Guard celebrated Armed Forces Day at the Oregon State Capitol Mall in downtown Salem, May 13. The annual celebration gives Oregonians an opportunity to see the capabilities of the Oregon National Guard and introduces them to the agencies which support the state and work with federal partners. During the ceremony, Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski thanked Oregonians in uniform for their contributions and sacrifice. A highlight of the event was a flyover of the Oregon Air National Guard's top air superiority fighter. Four F-15 Eagles from the 142nd Fighter Wing broke through the clouds to skim just over the capitol's dome and the Oregon Pioneer, their sleek dark gray wings silhouetted against the gray, rainy sky. As a tribute to those in uniform, soldiers from the Oregon Army National Guard's Bravo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 218th Field Artillery, fired three 105mm Howitzer cannons, filling the Capitol Mall with smoke. Passersby paused to watch, as a thunderous echo reverberated off the buildings in downtown Salem. The video footage was shot by Sgt. Kevin Hartman, of the Oregon National Guard's Public Affairs Office.

PLEASE NOTE: I divided my uploads between multiple channels, Bookmark this link in your browser for instant access to an index with links to all of John1948's oldies classics. LINK: tinyurl.com The Platters started out as a Los Angeles-based doo wop group with little identity of their own to make them stand out from the pack. They made their first records for Federal, a subsidiary of Cincinnati's King Records. These early sides don't sound anything like the better-known sides that would eventually emerge from this group, instead merely aping the current R&B trends and styles of the day. What changed their fortunes can be reduced down to one very important name: their mentor, manager, producer, songwriter, and vocal coach, Buck Ram. Ram took what many would say were a run-of-the-mill R&B doo wop vocal group and turned them into stars and one of the most enduring and lucrative groups of all time. By 1954, Ram was already running a talent agency in Los Angeles, writing and arranging for publisher Mills Music, managing the Three Suns -- a pop group with some success -- and working with his protégés, the Penguins. The Platters seemed like a good addition to his stable. After getting them out of their Federal contract, Ram placed them with the burgeoning national independent label Mercury Records (at the same time he brought over the Penguins following their success with "Earth Angel"), automatically getting them into pop markets through the label's distribution contacts alone ...

Copyright © 2009 Chris Caldwell - BLACKWEL, OKLAHOMA - The Tuesday night blaze in downtown Blackwell claimed the lives of 4 dogs and 1 cat according to home owners. Blackwell Fire Chief Tom Beliel said the Ponca City aerial truck was a big relief when it arrived and got the fire knocked down pretty quick and he praised the fire fighters from Ponca City as well as Braman, Newkirk, Tonkawa, and his own guys at Blackwell. Devin Curfman said his cousin had came home and smelled smoke and went to his bedroom and opened the door where he saw smoke and it just went up in flames and filled the entire apartment with smoke. He then ran next door to have someone call 911 and by the time he got back to try and save the animals it was already filled with smoke and flames. This morning both the renters and the property owners were at the apartment cleaning up and looking for any pictures or other items that may have survived. The rear 1/2 of the roof collapsed during the fire. Curfman said tar from the roof melted and basically became an accelerant and caused the fire to spread and be even worse. The state fire marshal investigator said the fire started from lint smoldering in the dryer. The door on the dryer was closed but all the clothes inside were burned. Nothing was hardly recognizable after the flames ripped through the apartment. The family managed to save a few trophies and pictures but was left with just the clothes ...
No Smoking Day - 11th March 2009 Patches, gum, microtabs, lozenges, inhalers, nasal sprays and even hypnosis. There are loads of ways to help you quit smoking - but do any of them really work any better than old fashioned cold turkey? It’s national No Smoking Day again, a day when a quarter of the UK population – that’s 12 million smokers - are encouraged to kick their habit. In fact, every year more than a million people quit smoking on No Smoking Day. The campaign will also highlight the benefits of stopping smoking and how to get help. Community pharmacist and Royal Pharmaceutical Spokesperson – Lindsey Gilpin will be giving advice to the millions of smokers who want to quit, explaining some of the quitting aids available to help, and revealing why smoking is such a hard habit to break. ***NOT FOR BROADCAST*** STORM CHASER TONY LAUBACH www.tornadoeskick.com VIDEO DESCRIPTION Fire burns the Lone Star building in downtown Trinidad. No injuries were reported and residents living in the second floor apartments were able to get out safely. The fire started at about 1pm on Saturday, Feb 7. It is believed to have started due to a electric short in one of the six apartments in the building. The second floor was completely destroyed as businesses on the first floor had water and smoke damage.
