World Trade Center Attack on 9/11 - NBC News The September 11 attacks (often referred to as September 11th or 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 Islamic al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third airliner into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, DC The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, DC There were no survivors from any of the flights. The death toll of the attacks was 2996, including the 19 hijackers. The overwhelming majority of casualties were civilians, including nationals of over 70 countries. In addition, there is at least one secondary death -- one person was ruled by a medical examiner to have died from lung disease due to exposure to dust from the World Trade Center's collapse. The United States responded to the attacks by launching the War on Terror: it invaded Afghanistan to depose the Taliban, who had harbored al-Qaeda terrorists ...
Fort Worth, Texas (NBC) -- A motion-activated camera at a Fort Worth family's favorite hunting spot is capturing shots of mysterious objects. Lisa Brock-Piekarski's game camera is supposed to take pictures of the deer on her Archer City hunting lease, but the pictures show something she can't explain. "What I see looks almost like a Frisbee," she said. "You see several lights going around, and they're all symmetrical and lit up, and it just looks like an object in the sky." Brock-Piekarski's is hesitant to call the string of lights in the sky UFOs, although she can't identify the flying objects. "We've seen falling stars, all kinds of stuff out there because you're away form the city," she said. "Anytime there's a meteor shower or anything, you can see it a lot better, but I've never seen anything like that." Brock-Piekarski said the pictures were taken by a single motion-activated game camera. The equipment wasn't moved, and it doesn't have a flash. Instead, it uses infrared. She said she has ruled out light posts or cell phone towers because the area is pretty empty. "There's nothing back there but trees and sky," she said. "There's no hills, no buildings, nothing back there. It's all flat." Timestamps on several pictures also show that the object hovered in the air for almost two hours. Whatever it is, she is now a little hesitant to go out to her deer blind alone. "It's creepy," Brock-Piekarski said. "I don't know if I want to be sitting out in my deer stand by myself ...

New York City's Metropolitan Transit Authority on Monday dropped its restrictions on the free speech of the human rights organization American Freedom Defense Initiative (FDI) and Stop Islamization of America (SIOA). MTA officials reversed an earlier decision not to allow FDI bus ads that pointed out the link between the September 11, 2001 jihad terror attacks and the proposed Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero. FDI Executive Director Pamela Geller announced: "The MTA has recognized the justice of our position in our lawsuit, and has agreed to run our ad as originally submitted. This is a great victory for freedom of speech, and we are grateful to our attorneys David Yerushalmi and Robert Muise for mounting such an effective defense against politically correct censorship." Responding to charges that the ad is offensive, Geller said: "What's more insulting and offensive -- that image of truth, or a 15 story mega-mosque looking down on the sacred ground of Ground Zero?" The NHL has been criticized in the past about it's handshake deal with NBC. It has been widely rumoured that the station doesn't pay a dime for the rights to broadcast NHL games. And yet when it comes to calling the shots on start times for playoff games...NBC seemingly pulls rank on CBC. CBC only pays millions of dollars for the exact same rights here in Canada. You can't blame a Canadian hockey fan for feeling like the proverbial boyfriend who's girlfriend is constantly flirting with the guy with Pearl Jam tickets (I swear this didn't happen to me....more than once). So you can imagine my shock when NBC asked Down Goes Brown and Bloge Salming to create an ad they planned to run in the US to educate their fans on the Canadian hockey teams. Ok so I went to the Biggest Loser open casting call in Kansas City KA at the Nebraska Furniture Store. There were about 400 other fatties there. We all had our 30 seconds with the casting directors.
