For more incredible and rare video footage like this log onto www.arhenetwork.com. It's too bad that St. John's, because of the Big East's new divisional alignment, plays Georgetown only once this season. Allen Iverson seems to bring out the best in Felipe Lopez, and the two guards on the same court seem to make for some quintessential college basketball moments. Consider this Lopez, of the Red Storm, going one on one against the Hoyas' Iverson, with the game, perhaps, in the balance. Yesterday, Lopez won that battle, and though Iverson won quite a few others, it was St. John's that won the game. Iverson (39 points, 1 shy of his career high) played marvelously at Madison Square Garden, especially during a 23-point first-half outburst. But finally, with an up-tempo pace to his liking, Lopez delivered his finest performance in what has been an up-and-down sophomore season. Lopez scored 25 points, 2 shy of his season high, to go with 9 rebounds, not to mention many crisp passes. His teammate, Zendon Hamilton, fouled out with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Lopez and Hamilton proved to be too much for Iverson's one-man show, as St. John's played one of its finest games of a so-far erratic season, upsetting sixth-ranked Georgetown, 83-72, before 13882 fans. "That's my game, basically," Lopez said. "Up tempo." And in control. If one play could have summed up the contest's outcome, it came with just over five minutes to play and St. John's leading by 9. The Red Storm cleared out for ...

The Catamounts took the floor for the first time at HSBC Arena Thursday night. The Catamounts got their legs under them in their allotted forty minute practice which was open to the public. The Cornell Big Red Cheerleaders get some CBS NCAA Tournament air time against the Temple Owls during a 1st half timeout @ the 1st round of the East Region on a Friday Matinee @ the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Jacksonville, Florida. It was an impressive performance by the Ivy League Champs as Cornell would send the Temple Owls packing with a solid 78-65 win over the Atlantic 10 Champs. It was the 1st time ever that Cornell has won an NCAA Tournament game, a historic day for Cornell Big Red Basketball. Cornell faces #4 Seed Wisconsin (Team colors also red & white) in Sunday's 2nd Round for a berth in the Sweet 16.
About 100 fans gathered at the Curris Center on Murray States campus to watch the game on the big screen TV. With 4 seconds left and Murray State down one point, I grabbed my camera. The video starts off with us just cheering during a timeout and about a minute later, the game comes back on. I capture "the shot" in real time and get an amazing fan reaction caught on film. Check it out. GO RACERS!
Watch Kentucky vs Mississippi State on NCAA Tournament Video on misshotz.com Kentucky won a thriller in overtime against Mississippi State 75-74. Not only did the Wildcats win the SEC title, but the team showed the country that just because the team consists of five freshmen, they will not buckle under big pressure. All of the points in overtime came from freshmen. Eric Bledsoe led Kentucky with 18 points while Patrick Patterson and John Wall added 15 points each. John Wall scored seven of his 15 points in overtime which included the game winning three-pointer over Mississippi States Dee Bost. The win gives Kentucky its 26th SEC Tournament title and its first since 2004. This is the second time this season in which Mississippi State blew a regulation lead over Kentucky. Kentucky had to rally from five down with 2:28 left in regulation to beat Mississippi State. Wall missed a three-pointer from the right wing, but demarcus Cousins was able to get the rebound and score at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. 1975 National Championship UCLA Bruins - University of Kentucky - at San Diego Sports Arena, with Marques Johnson. Best team basketball student in the late 60's - early 70's of last century was a team UCLA Bruins! It became NCAA champion 7 times in a row (from 1967 to the 1973 year inclusive)! But in the NCAA tournament semifinals in 1974 they lost... The following year, before the team from the University of Los Angeles had only one goal - victory again! And the final match! Does the legendary team will be able to retrieve his own champion NCAA title or stumbles in the final match?? This match also went down in history as basketball last game in the coaching career of John Wooden, 10 times to bring their team to victory in the championship NCAA!!! - "Pavlov".
Clearly not me (this is the dude with the video titled Greatest Freakout Ever) but this is EXACTLY how I felt when we lost that 9 point lead with 2 minutes left right when Mario Chalmers hit that damn 3 pointer to send the game to OT. I didn't even watch the OT. It was the first time in years as a Memphis Tigers fan to KNOW we would lose when he drained that 3. But then again, the NCAA wants to say this game (and that whole dream season) never happened so I guess all of these feelings didn't happen either. The NCAA can take a flying leap off a fucking Dukie V cliff! Ok, there....I feel better now! lol
Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State got together for the first time this season , each looking for their first league victory of the year. Both teams were also looking to get back on track, after sluggish stretches that saw the 49ers lose four games in a row, and the Titans lose four of their last five games. In a raucous Titan Gymnasium, the Titans came out strong and much like their fans, seemed energized from the start. In a game featuring several highlight finishes, it was the relentless Titan defense that powered them to an 85-75 victory and a statement to the rest of the Big West. The Titans thoroughly outplayed the 49ers for most of the game, using dominating defensive stretches to separate themselves on the scoreboard. Titan forward Gerard Anderson didn't miss all game, connecting on all eight of his shots on his way to 22 points. Showing off the total package, Anderson had a few thunderous dunks which is pretty standard for him, but he even made his first career three pointer at CSUF....then hit two more. It was also Anderson's tight defense on the 49ers All- Conference sharpshooter Larry Anderson, not giving him open looks, that helped the Titans secure their first league victory. The Titans also got solid contributions from Jer'Vaughn Johnson (13 points 9 rebounds 2 steals), Aaron Thompson (7 points 5 assists 7 rebounds and a FILTHY dunk), and Jacques Streeter made five three-pointers while scoring 20 points and dishing out 5 assists. The 49ers look to ...

Here is what Mack Brown said to the media today: We first want to thank the Tournament of Roses committee for a great week. It's been a long week. It's been a long month. And then just talking to Coach Saban, I know the coaches and the players are ready to go and see who is the best team in the country. When you have a month and two days to prepare, what you do is you go back and try to correct all the mistakes that you made at the end of the season, and at the same time prepare for the best team in the country, the No. 1 team in the country that's well coached and very talented. It's challenging, but at the same time, it's exciting to see how you match up against the best. We also have so many of our current NFL guys coming back for the game, it'll be fun. I think there's about 17 to 20 that have said that they'll be here. A number of them have already come out to practice and have been around the team and were able to speak to the team. So it's fun to have them back. But I'm excited. When you start with 120 teams and it's down to two, that's about 12000 players, and it's a great honor for your players and your coaches to be in this game.
Peter Press Maravich (June 22, 1947 January 5, 1988), nicknamed "Pistol Pete", was an American basketball player. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Maravich starred in college at Louisiana State University (LSU) and for three NBA teams. He is still the all-time leading NCAA Division I scorer with 3667 points scored and an average of 44.2 points per game. He accomplished this without the benefit of a three-point line and despite the fact that NCAA rules prohibited him from playing on the varsity team as a freshman. Years later former LSU head basketball coach Dale Brown charted every college game Maravich played, taking into consideration all shots he took. The coach calculated that at the NCAA rule of a three-point line at 19-foot (5.8 m), 9-inches from the rim, Maravich would have averaged thirteen 3-point scores per game, which would have given the player a career average of 57 points per game. Maravich died suddenly at age 40 as a consequence of a previously undetected congenital heart defect. His last words, spoken less than a minute before he was stricken and died in the arms of James Dobson, were "I feel great." en.wikipedia.org

Concordia University, St. Paul won its third consecutive DII Volleyball Championship on Saturday, December 5, 2009, defeating West Texas A&M University 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Golden Bears took the match in straight sets, the 32nd time out of 37 season matches that CU won without giving up a set. Freshman middle hitter Cassie Haag (Plymouth, Minn.) led the team with 13 kills and four blocks. Maggie mcnamara (S, Sr., Zumbrota, Minn.) added 38 assists to wrap up her four-time All-American career with an NCAA record 7341 assists. Senior Mary Slinger (L, Faribault, Minn.) completes her career as cu's all-time digs leader with 2349 digs, adding 20 to her career total in tonight's Championship match. West Texas A&M had a massive defensive effort that held the Golden Bears to their second lowest hitting average of the season, .174. But Concordia countered with a defensive front that once again featured a tremendous blocking front. CU got countless touches on the Lady Buff attacks and whenever a hit DID manage to get past the net, the Slinger-led defense stepped in to save the day. West Texas was held to only 26 kills in the match with a .037 hitting average. This was the first time the Lady Buffs were swept this season. The Golden Bears had five players named to the 2009 NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team, Maggie mcnamara, Mary Slinger, Cassie Haag, Emily Palkert and Megan Carlson.
