Valley City, ND (kcsi-TV News) -- Work is starting on restoration of the new Elks Footbridge in Valley City. The Valley City commission has approved a construction engineering agreement in the amount of $60500 with Kadrmas Lee and Jackson in Valley City, for work on the Footbridge. The renovation and repairs are partially funded by an NDDOT grant. Refurbishing the footbridge is in the Rosebud Visitor Center parking lot. The project involves shutting down portion of Main Street in Valley City near the Elks building to move the bridge into the Rosebud Visitor Center parking lot. Additional closures or redirecting traffic to one lane on Main Street will be announced as necessary. The Valley City Commission is still concerned about the gray color of the footbridge, and suggest a white appearance which needs review by the nddots Cultural Resoruce Division and The North Dakota State Historical Preservation Office, under the NDDOT grant.
