A TripAdvisorâ„¢ TripWow video of a travel blog to Kathmandu, Nepal by TravelPod blogger Natandkat. See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com Killin' Time In Kathmandu.. "Greetings from Kathmandu. After a week trekking we were most relieved when we made it to Kathmandu. It's my second time here and another place that I was really looking forward to seeing again as was Kat. You see Kathmandu is like a backpacking wonderland and after 7.5 months on the road we really needed some western home comforts, in particular things like Pizza, Steak, Wine and Tuna Sanwhiches with bakery fresh bread. You name it you can eat it in Kathmandu and we did our best to eat our way through the place. Anyways, apart from the obvious distractions there is some serious sightseeing in Kathmandu to accomplish. From Durbar Square to the Monkey Temple you can waste a few days just losing yourself in this wonderful city. There are temples, shrines and scupltures hidden away in the most unlikely of places. You can really appreciate Kathmandu's museum like quality when you come across a 1000 year old statue - something that would be a prized possession in many western museums - being used as a washing line or plaything. All in all a top spot for all and sundry and a great place to wind down after the rigours of the last few months and the trek up to Annapurna Base Camp. Love, Nath and Kat." Przejście gry Tomb Raider Legend wraz z moimi komentarzami. "Tomb Raider: Legend to siódma już odsłona legendarnej serii przygodowych gier akcji z seksowną panią archeolog, Larą Croft w roli głównej. Po niewątpliwej klapie, jaką okazała się cześć poprzednia Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, produkcję tejże powierzono zespołowi developerskiemu Crystal Dynamics, producentowi takich gier jak Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2, czy Legacy of Kain: Defiance.
In April - May 2010, our small group traveled to Nepal to visit village schools in the Everest region of the Himalayas. Our goal was to find projects to support the education and development of youth in the region. This short video is a collection of ambient scenes from a part of that journey, from our time spent in Khumjung Village (home of the Edmund Hillary Secondary School) and its neighboring village of Khunde (home of a small local clinic). Disclaimer: This is my first time shooting with video (I'm a photographer!), and my first time to edit video. Updated versions will come with subtitles and/ or narration to step through the story, and hopefully music/ sfx to help deal with ambient wind issues.
song : mero priyetam singer : sukmit gurung ************************ When she recorded her first solo "O Mero Priyatam", Sukmit Gurung was a young artiste from Sikkim looking to make it big in the Nepali music industry. The song was a big hit, her debut album "Kahin ta Birsanu Timile" that carried it creating a niche for young female artistes. Born in Sikkim 47 years ago, Sukmit's first stage performance was at her school when she was only 14. "My school's environment was very musical," she recalls. "There were music classes and concerts and I tried to be a part of them all. Born into a Christian family, I also got the opportunity to sing in choirs at local churches, which further enhanced my abilities." It was in 1974 that Sukmit came to Kathmandu as a tourist accompanying her sister. Sukmit's vocal abilities soon came to the notice of senior musicians of the time including the legendary Prakash Gurung. Her seniors and well-wishers persuaded her to participate in a music contest organised by the Radio Nepal — the only radio service in Nepal at the time. Call it luck or her immense talent, she outscored everyone in the competition to take the title, which proved to be a stepping stone to her musical career. Sukmit reigned supreme in all competitions she participated in at the time. Enthused by her success, she decided to pursue her career in singing. With Dipak Thapa's lyrics and composition and Prakash Gurung's music arrangement, she recorded her first song at the Radio ...

www.arghakhanchi.com KATHMANDU - Nepal cremated former prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Sunday in a Hindu funeral as tens of thousands of mourners thronged the streets of the capital Kathmandu. A key player in Nepal's transition from centuries-old monarchy to secular republic, Koirala died of a chest infection at the age of 86 at his daughter's home in Kathmandu on Saturday. The six-time premier helped begin landmark peace talks with the former Maoist rebels in 2006 to end a decade-long civil war which killed more than 13000 people. The Maoists called the death an "irreparable loss" to the peace process. "He was a strong politician who was able to manage the country through difficult days of transition," said Raju Shrestha, who sells curios in the capital. "The country will feel his absence for some time to come." Nepal, home to 28 million people, has been in political turmoil and the peace process has stalled since the Maoists quit the government last year in a row with the president over plans to sack the army chief. Thousands of Maoist guerrillas are still confined to UN monitored camps after the peace deal and have not been integrated into the army. The Himalayan republic suffers from acute goods and power shortages. Koirala's death "is a serious jolt to the peace process," English daily Kathmandu Post said in a special front page editorial, though analysts have said the process is unlikely to break down entirely. Koirala's body was cremated on the banks of the ...

Bungy Nepal is operated at The Last Resort and located 12 km from the Tibetan Border in Nepal. Bungy Nepal was set up by Kiwi David Allerdice and Nepali Bishnu Neopanae. Together they scouted the area for a long time to find the perfect location for the 166 meter long and 160 meter high suspension bridge. The bridge was finally built in three months and the first jump took place in 1999. Two new partners have since joined the company, Australian Pat oKeeffe and Dutch Sam Voolstra. The company has 50 staff members, the majority from the local area. They were trained by international experts and together run two offices, one resort, the bungy and swing operation, canyoning and hiking. We work together with Ultimate Rivers and HMB for rafting and mountain biking. Before the construction the local villagers had to walk five hours to cross the river gorge. The building of the bridge has a positive impact on the development of the local economy and infrastructure. All adventures are truly unique experiences, they demand choosing a company with the right expertise, attitude and equipment, and above all respect for the natural forces we play with. Our extremely talented jump staff sets safety standards for others to follow, leaving you free to enjoy your adventure with the knowledge that you are in the most capable of hands. The jump site in Nepal was designed in 1999 by one of New Zealand's leading Bungy consultants and has been staffed and operated by some of the most ...

Football in Nepal is going through a difficult time - the domestic league is only just re-starting after a two year suspension and the national team is ranked down at number 173 in the world - sandwiched between the Seychelles and Bangladesh. Despite this, football is still the most popular sport in the country and there is now a concerted effort amongst both the men's and women's game to put the bad times behind them. Sportsworld's Andy Richardson reports on the resurgence of football from Kathmandu.

Every year The Goldman Sachs Foundation and Asia Society recognize US high school students that demonstrate in-depth understanding of key issues in international affairs. Sarah from Westlake Village, CA is one of the 2008 winners of a $10000 scholarship. She created a video comparing her life and those of her peers with people she met in Nepal, finding different definitions of necessity, wealth, and happiness. Sarahs video included footage she shot while in Nepal with a media team documenting human rights issues and the recent historic elections. While there, she filmed an interview with the rebel leader at the time, Prachanda, who has since become the Prime Minister of Nepal. Sarah has also completed video projects for her local symphony orchestra and continues to follow the evolving political situation in Nepal. For more information on the prize, check out askasia.org

He is still there continuing his spiritual journey. He bought a little camera and is able to upload the pictures time to time. He had been previously living in a remote woods in Lithuania for about a year. He used to see his family each week and upload videos there. This video can be downloaded here: www.ashdenawards.org CRT/N won an Ashden Award for Sustainable Energy in 2007. To find out more visit the link above and check out the Ashden Awards Blog ashdenawards.blogspot.com Since its inception in 1989, the Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal, has focused on improving traditional water mills used for centuries by farming communities in the Himalayas. There are over 25000 of these mills in Nepal that use the power of running water to grind grain into flour. Unfortunately, they can no longer produce enough energy to meet local demand, resulting in a rise in the number of diesel-powered mills. The water mills are also extremely hard work to operate and millers often work 12 hours a day in order to make a living. Since 2003, CRT has intensified work to upgrade the water mills making them more efficient and capable of providing other services such as electricity generation and paddy hulling. To date, over 2400 water mills have been upgraded increasing the grinding capacity by more than 100% cutting down the waiting time for women users, significantly increasing millers income and stemming the rise in diesel mills. It is estimated that each improved mill can offset diesel, equivalent to 2.4 tonnes/year CO2.
Over the Himalaya is a hidden valley. Surrounded by the 8000 m Annapurna range and the great peaks of Pisang and Chulu, the valley is wild and wonderful. Tibeto-Burman people who followed the nomadic tradition of moving across the mountains hunting and searching for food, found the valley and settled in it centuries ago. Long known for their skills as itinerant traders, the Manangi people who inhabit the six villages of Upper Manang Valley in north-central Nepal, call themselves Nyeshange. There are numerous speculations about their origins. Local lore says that a long time ago, maraudidng groups of invaders came over the southern mountains and harassed the people of this northern valley. Through a magical religious device, a lama made it impossible for the invaders to cross the high mountain passses. At the same time, the people of the valley were unable to get out. Today, upper Manang is also referred to as Nyeshang Valley. Historical research indicates that there was a place called "Shang" in Tibet a long time ago. Linguists say that "Nye" means "us". Another theory in history books is that ago. Linguists say that " Nye" means "us". Another theory in history books is that Nyeshang paid tribute to Se-rib, a historic political entity encompassing many village in the neighboring Kali Gandaki "valley, south of Lo or Mustang. Still another version suggests that the Nyeshang might have migrated from Tengar inTibet. The Annapurna range creates the rain-shadow, stopping the ...
A brief look at one of the worlds most amazing countries. A rough guide to Nepal takes you from the capital Kathmandu to the Himalayan mountains and the towering Mount Everest. More info - I spent three months working in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, as a volunteer at an orphanage/school, living with a Nepali family. In this time i saw and did so many amazing things and was lucky to capture some on video. Like climbing to Mount Everest Base Camp, a 14 day hike. The mountains you see in the film are Everest and the surrounding summits. My aim with this film was to highlight the poverty that the majority of the people face, but focus on the amazing attitude its people has regardless of their situation. Nepali's really are an amazing people. After learning so much about the culture, its people and its language, i hope to return in the near future to work on a documentary that looks deeper into this wonderful country.
