Dwyane Wade scores 27 points and the Heat continue their good play in March with a 99-89 victory over the Nets. Wade, Heat kick off road trip with win over Nets By Bob Considine, for NBA.com Posted Monday March 22, 2010 11:15PM EAST RUTHERFORD (NBA.com exclusive) -- The Nets weren't lacking for intent on Monday night, but they were again missing execution. And so there was nothing close to consolation in New Jersey's 99-89 defeat to the Miami Heat the IZOD Center. Maybe the Nets hadn't been so worthy of an 'E' for effort in awhile. But at the end of the game, it was still another "L" for loss under acting coach John Loyer. "I feel bad for them," Loyer said. "But I told them they've got nothing to hang their heads about. They came against a playoff team and one of the elite players in the league, Dwyane Wade, and gave it everything they had." Wade led Miami with 27 points, while Jermaine O'Neal, making a return to the starting lineup after missing one game with a sprained ankle, added 25 points. The Heat pick up a key win in the Eastern Conference playoff race in the first of a three-game road trip. They maintained a one-game lead over Toronto for sixth place in the East. "We want to get in the playoffs and we have to go to battle every night," Wade said. "This week is very important for us." "We knew it wasn't going to be an easy game," added Heat coach Erik Spoelstra. "You look at a team like the Nets and their record and you're very deceived by it." The Nets, despite ...

Shooter and I went to go see the Nets square off against the Knicks. Here are some of the highlights seen from our amazing seats. Brook Lopez and Yi Jianlian dominated the paint and David Lee and Al Harrington did all they could to keep the Knicks in the game. Shooter, a Nets season ticket holder, was pumped because he missed the Nets only other home win against the Bobcats. JD2K highlights in HD Lakers: 103 Nets: 84 Current Record: 21-4 Next game: Sunday (12/20) @ Detroit Pistons Thats three straight wins on the road for the Los Angeles Lakers after opening their trip with a loss at Utah. Better play? Maybe. Worse competition? Definitely. Kobe Bryant had 29 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lakers to a 103-84 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday night in a matchup of the NBAs best and worst teams. Asked what his team was doing better in victories over Chicago, Milwaukee and New Jersey, Lakers coach Phil Jackson said, Were picking some better opponents. The schedule favored us, Jackson added. These teams are not .500 teams and Utah is a very good team on their home floor, so some of it has to do with the competition. But I think we played a little bit better. Having Bryant helps, too. The Nets dropped their seventh straight, but the game was competitive into the third quarter, when Bryant started taking over about the time the leagues lowest-scoring team was enduring one of its usual droughts. I needed a little burst there to get us back in that game pretty quick, said Bryant, who thought the Lakers were rusty in the first half after not playing since Wednesday. You dont want New Jersey getting any more confidence. They got it to about a six-point advantage and you dont want them to get any further so I kind of turned it on a little bit. Pau Gasol had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Lakers, who improved to 21-4 heading into the ...
Both the New Jersey Nets and the Chicago Bulls got what they deserved Tuesday at the United Center. Behind gutsy and enthusiastic performances by Brook Lopez and Devin Harris, the Nets recorded their first road win of the season and second victory overall out of the first 21 games, a 103-101 tally over the Bulls. Lopez had 25 points and Harris had seven of his 17 in the fourth quarter. Chris Douglas-Roberts also chipped in 20 points. Luol Deng and Derrick Rose had 27 apiece for the Bulls, who lost for the eighth time in their last nine games. The Bulls (7-12), who were embarrassed in a 110-78 home loss to Toronto on Saturday, went into halftime locked at 54-54. But after the Bulls' fast start, the Nets controlled the contest until the final eight minutes, when Rose and Deng led a Bulls' comeback . For the Nets, the road win was perhaps more meaningful than the home victory against Charlotte last weekend. "We were playing very confident,'' Lopez said. "Everyone was real clutch." "We felt we had control,'' Harris said. "We let that [fourth-quarter] lead diminish, but we came back when we needed to." The Bulls came out strong, running out to a 20-12 lead halfway through the first quarter. But the Nets were scoring most of their points in the paint, with numerous alley-oop layups and jump shots to stay close, while the Bulls were making jumpers with no inside presence. The Nets got hot at the end of the first, scoring the final eight points to take a 26-24 lead. The Nets also ...

Gary, Fearne, Ben, Kimberley and Chris help with the distribution of half a million anti-mosquito nets in Western Uganda. The nets were paid for with some of the £3.5 million they raised climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief. In Uganda Malaria kills more children than any other disease.
In March this year nine celebrities undertook the mammoth challenge of climbing the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Comic Relief. Thanks to the support of the British public their incredible effort raised over £3.5 million, and next week five of the climbers will travel to Uganda to see for themselves how some of that money is helping to fight malaria, Africa's biggest killer. Gary Barlow, Kimberley Walsh, Chris Moyles, Ben Shephard and Fearne Cotton are visiting Uganda assisting with the distribution of half a million mosquito nets, and witnessing how these simple items can help save lives.
Lakers: 106 Nets: 87 Current Record: 13-3 Next game: Tuesday vs the New Orleans Note: These are JD2K's highlights, meaning theyre ONLY LAKERS Highlights. Im getting sick of people complaining about the vids being one-sided. Seriously you should be able to tell that these are only Laker highlights based on the intro used in all of the vids. The New Jersey Nets matched the worst start to an NBA season with their 17th straight loss Sunday night, with Kobe Bryant scoring 30 points in the Los Angeles Lakers 106-87 victory. A few hours after New Jersey fired coach Lawrence Frank, the undermanned Nets had little prayer of keeping up with the defending league champions, who won their sixth straight game. Falling behind by 27 points in the first half despite clearly playing hard for temporary head coach Tom Barrise, the Nets matched the starts of the 1988-89 Miami Heat and the 1999 Los Angeles Clippers. I wish I could explain it, said New Jersey guard Chris Douglas-Roberts, who only lost 10 games in his three collegiate seasons at Memphis. Theres not really anything good out of this. I try to stay positive, but its extremely hard to stay positive. All the things going on, its depressing. New Jersey must beat the Dallas Mavericks back home in the East Rutherford swamp on Wednesday night—perhaps while playing for the clubs third coach in three games—to avoid sole possession of an embarrassing NBA record. I dont want to be associated with it, said Devin Harris, who scored 16 points ...

On a night when Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani had a couple of the finest games of their careers, the sombre silence in the Raptors locker-room afterward said everything. Vince Carter had struck once again, leading the New Jersey Nets past Toronto 129-127 in spectacular fashion Friday. The former Raptors star shrugged off the incessant booing from the Air Canada Centre crowd that pestered him all night long, pouring in 39 points, including the three-pointer that sent the game into extra time and the eventual winning dunk with 1.9 seconds left that rendered the Raptors speechless. ``I don't even know what to say, I'm so upset about the game. It's unbelievable,'' said Bargnani, calling the loss the toughest of his career. ``We were winning, we had the game under control, we made a couple of stupid mistakes.'' New Jersey's win spoiled superb games by Bosh and Bargnani. Bosh tied his career high with 42 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Bargnani had a career-high 29 points, plus 10 boards in the loss which dropped Toronto to 6-6. Jose Calderon, playing just his second game back after missing two with a hamstring injury, had 26 points and 15 assists for Toronto (6-6), who played almost the entire second half without Jermaine O'Neal after the centre left the game with a strained left knee. Devin Harris added 30 points for the Nets (5-6). The Raptors led from early on in their first of four straight home appearances, and looked poised to romp to a victory in a game that ...
Allen Iverson's first game with Detroit turned into the best night of Devin Harris' career. Harris scored a career-high 38 points Friday night, outplaying Iverson in the second half and leading the New Jersey Nets to a 103-96 victory over the Pistons. New Jersey, which trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half, played some of its best basketball of the season in the final two periods to hand the Pistons their first loss after four wins to open the season. "It was just about playing hard," Harris said. "We didn't get off to the best start. We have been really struggling in the third quarter but tonight we came out with more aggressiveness. Points for me didn't matter. It was all about the win. We desperately needed this for our confidence's sake." Vince Carter and Josh Boone each scored 18 for New Jersey, which got its first home win after two losses. Boone also pulled down 14 rebounds. Iverson had 24 points and six assists after finally getting to suit up. Detroit played twice since the trade Monday with Denver that sent Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb to the Nuggets for the nine-time All-Star. Iverson was not available for the first game and was not permitted to play the second because Billups had not completed his physical with the Nuggets. Richard Hamilton scored 22 points, while Tayshaun Prince added 19 points and 11 rebounds. It looked like an easy win for Detroit at the start. Iverson stepped right in, joining Hamilton in the Detroit ...
Carter begins this game absolutly on fire shooting the lights out with long range jumpers. Wrapping up his first season here as a Net, Vince is looking to re-invent himself to the New Jersey fan base scoring on a multitude of shots showing a very impressive touch from the perimeter. Ultimatly he finished with 45 points on the night after cooling down in the second half. Ya gotta love the celtics color announcer who gets so hyped over the performence that he forgets Ricky Davis's name at the conclusion of the quarter. High Quality viewing now availible!

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ, Feb. 28 -- It took Devin Harris only nine minutes to turn around the New Jersey Nets and make Jason Kidd seem like a distant memory. Stepping on the court for the first time since being acquired last week in an eight-player trade for Kidd, Harris scored 16 of his 21 points in a spectacular game-changing early spurt that carried New Jersey to a 120-106 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night. "I was very anxious to get out there,'' said Harris, who hit all six of his shots in the first half. "I was running a mile a minute and I was glad I got the start I did in the first half. I just felt good and everything was going in.'' Harris, who added five assists in just under 21 minutes, also heard an old chant from the crowd at the Izod Center in the waning seconds. "Dev-in Harris! Dev-in Harris!'' "That was like college,'' Harris said. "I hadn't heard that since I left Wisconsin. Like I said, I don't want to replace anybody. I just want to be myself and play as hard as I can and get them to accept me for who I am.'' Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson added 19 points apiece and Bostjan Nachbar scored all 13 of his points in the fourth quarter to help New Jersey beat the Bucks for the third straight time this season. Michael Redd had 33 points, Mo Williams added 24 and Andrew Bogut had 22 points and 15 rebounds for the Bucks, who had a two-game winning streak snapped in losing for the 25th time in 31 road games. "It wasn't just Devin,'' Bucks coach ...
Allen Iverson and three not as well-known backups got the Denver Nuggets a much needed win. Iverson had 26 points, nine assists, and combined with Linas Kleiza, JR Smith and Eduardo Najera on a 14-1 fourth-quarter spurt that carried the Nuggets to a 125-114 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Friday night. "We've been struggling, losing two on the road and we just wanted to do anything to get a win," Iverson said after scoring 21 second-half points to help the Nuggets break a two-game losing streak. The Nuggets needed every one of those points after blowing a 17-point third-quarter lead and eventually falling behind by two. "Welcome to Denver Nuggets land," coach George Karl said. "We play so fast, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's dangerous." Iverson and company made sure this one didn't slip away. Iverson and Smith each hit two free throws in the final minute to put Denver ahead 93-90 entering the final quarter. The start of the fourth quarter belonged to the Nuggets. Iverson and Smith hit driving layups and Kleiza hit a floater in the lane and a drive to push the advantage to 101-90. Najera hit a 3-pointer and Iverson converted a three-point play after Carter hit a free throw for a 107-91 lead. "My teammates hitting shots opened it up for me," Iverson said. "Once JR and LK hit shots that enabled me to get in the lane and make shots." Karl could not say enough about Kleiza, Smith and Najera. "It was one of those nights where our bench needed to come through and we ...

Young MJ had already scored 63 in the playoffs the year before, but here, in his 3rd pro year at age 23, he scored 58 for his regular season high at the time. MJ broke Chet Walker's Bull's record which was at 56. Going 16-25 and 26-27 from the ft line, the ending stamps it all: "And it came in spectacular Michael Jordan fashion - foul, hang-time, reverse - all of it".
