NEW YORK - JUNE 11: Kevin Martin, 12, with his mother, Linda Martin, 43, and father, Tim Martin, 55, at their family home on June 11, 2010 in New Rochelle, New York City. Twelve-year-old Kevin Martin is one of only five people in the world believed to be living with the twin conditions of dwarfism and neurofibromatosis (NF), a condition which causes tumours to grow anywhere on his body. As well as his dwarfism, which Kevin sees as his primary condition, he currently has three benign tumours. One is a pea sized lump in his brain, another is in his lung and the third is the size of a banana and stretches from the top of his chest to his jawline. As the years go by there is a one in ten chance that any of the tumours will develop into full blown cancer.

It's called neurofibromatosis and is similar to Elephant Man Disease, because it can cause disfiguring growths. She shares her struggles not only with the condition, but also getting insurance to cover her surgeries. It's a battle of will and endurance, and Catie is determined to win.

We made this video in honor of our little boy Dylan. This is daddy's favorite song and he picked it just for you bud :) Dylan is 8 years old and has Neurofibromatosis also known as NF1. In the past he has suffered significant visual losses such as his depth perception, binocular and peripheral vision. He has had surgery for this but they were unable to restore his vision. He will require 2-3 more surgeries just to maintain alignment. Most recently he lost all the useful hearing on the right side. These are all nerve related and permenant. He struggles daily to over come many obstacles including muscular, nutritional and neurological issues as well. Some of those issues are causing structural problems. He has scapular winging in both shoulders causing his chest wall to sink in and become deformed. Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow any where at any time and can cause brain tumors, deafness, bone deformaties,facial disfigurement, learning disabillities and cancer. There is no predictable course and there is no cure.
