Dr. Condoleezza Rice visits Google's Mountain View, CA headquarters to discuss her memoir "Extraordinary, Ordinary People: A Memoir of Family." This event took place on October 20, 2010, as a part of the Authors@Google series. As comfortable describing lighthearted family moments as she is recalling the poignancy of her mother's cancer battle and the heady challenge of going toe-to-toe with Soviet leaders, Rice holds nothing back in this remarkably candid telling. This is the story of Condoleezza Rice that has never been told, not that of an ultra-accomplished world leader, but of a little girl -- and a young woman -- trying to find her place in a sometimes hostile world and of two exceptional parents, and an extended family and community, that made all the difference.

The dream talk with a Robot Scientists, Dr. Hiroshi Ishiguro and an Media Artist, Mr. Akira Hasegawa. Science and art, the real professionals in each field met at the first time in TEDxSeeds. Mr. Hasegawa works as a pioneer of new horizon of Arts and Dr. Ishiguro studies at the cutting edge of Robot Science from every angle to reach and break a new ground. Beyond each field, time and space, these top runners in the creative world will present the latest technology and power of arts for the future, which breaks out the mold of convention. What is human, who am I, what is time. Asking those fundamental questions surround us and our life, they break out the preconceived idea. This is a supreme talk generated by the two, the extreme professionals who takes us to thefuture. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Introduced by: Eugene J. Mackey, Principal, Mackey Mitchell Associates, and Convener, facilities Planning Academy Presented by: Mark Valenti, President & CEO, the Sextant Group, Inc. There is much ado today about social media and the changing landscape of human interaction brought on by the revolution in network-based communications. No doubt this revolution is powerful, far-reaching, and impacts our daily lives in direct and tangible ways. What is not so evident is the revolution quietly occurring in the way buildings are being conceived, a revolution that will impact the way we plan, design, implement, and manage the campus facilities portfolio forever. Technologies such as building information modeling, cloud computing, mesh networks, and digital media are being realized in new ways to optimize energy consumption, usage efficiencies, user comfort, security, and human communication. At what point do our surroundings become self- aware? When do they inter-operate? And how might we plan for the emerging intelligent campus? This presentation will take a look over the horizon of possibilities. Mark Valenti is an expert in digital media technologies, architectural acoustics, psychoacoustics, and market trends in the multimedia industry. He understands the engineering behind designing truly rich classroom learning environments, blended with the online tools that students and instructors love.
The first nest of endangered Kemp's ridley turtle eggs rescued from Florida and Alabama Gulf Coast beaches threatened by the BP oil spill makes its way to the Kennedy Space Center. After incubation is complete, 22 baby turtles are released into the Atlantic Ocean off Kennedy. Among This Week's other stories: the last external tank built for the Space Shuttle Program arrives in Florida from New Orleans; a Star Trek legend visits the Johnson Space Center; and the world's first space partnership between the US and the Soviet Union is remembered 30 years later.
Oil Spill in Persian Mexican Gulf (Formerly Known as Gulf of Mexico),VoA News ايران تهران Iran COVINGTON, La. -- BP started pumping heavy mud into the leaking Gulf of Mexico well Wednesday and said everything was going as planned in the company's boldest attempt yet to plug the gusher that has spewed millions of gallons of oil over the last five weeks. BP hoped the mud could overpower the steady stream of oil, but chief executive Tony Hayward said it would be at least 24 hours before officials know whether the attempt has been successful. The company wants to eventually inject cement into the well to permanently seal it. "I'm sure many of you have been watching the plume," Hayward said from Houston. "All I can say is it is unlikely to give us any real indication of what is going on. Either increases or decreases are not an indicator of either success or failure at this time." The stakes are high. Fisherman, hotel and restaurant owners, politicians and residents along the coast are fed up with BP's so far ineffective attempts to stop the oil leak that sprang after an offshore drilling rig exploded April 20. Eleven workers were killed, and by the most conservative estimate, 7 million gallons of crude have spilled into the Gulf, fouling Louisiana's marshes and coating birds and other wildlife. The top kill has worked above ground but has never before been tried 5000 feet beneath the sea. Company officials peg its chance of success at 60 to 70 percent. President Barack Obama ...

If you don't already know who Reggie Watts is, he won't take offense, but after seeing him once, you'll never forget him. Hand-picked by Conan O'Brian as the opening act for his nationwide comedy tour, Reggie is a tour de force of cutting edge entertainment. He is part musician, part comedian, part tech geek, and 100% unlike anything you've ever seen or heard before. A master at beat-box and looping, he is probably best known for his music, however his unique style blends familiar elements with novel sounds and allows Reggie to explore unknown territory. His comedy, on the other hand, is a bit harder to explain... let's just say he's a comedian's comedian... trust me, you're gonna love 'em.

The Town of Colonie, the largest suburb of Albany, New York, is ideally located in the heart of Tech Valley, encompassing the Capital Region and parts of the Adirondacks, Hudson Valley and Mohawk Valley. People from across the country and around the world are relocating to the region to take advantage of Tech Valleys rewarding career and business opportunities, world-class educational and research facilities, and unique and varied quality of life. The geography ranges from mountain peaks to river valleys, from rolling hills to grassy plains. Commencing with Henry Hudsons 1609 exploration of the area, the Battle of Saratoga, the Erie Canal, and continuing with the Watervliet Arsenal Business and Technology Campus, College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering and GlobalFoundries $4.2 billion semiconductor facility, the Capital Region has always led and shaped the future. Acxiom, a global leader in data management, has ranked this area as the top market in America. According to Acxiom, Albany has almost the same proportion of consumers as is found in the nation as a whole as reported on BNETs Business Library. The people of the Town of Colonie have always been forward thinkers who embrace ways to make the future today. We are the heart of New Yorks Tech Valley and are prepared, determined and excited to push the boundaries of high speed internet access and expand the horizon of online services. We think you'll agree that we would be a great test site for Google's fiber project.
