One of the big upgrades in the iPhone 4S was the new 8 Megapixel camera on the back. This camera has a redesigned lens as well as some new internals. The camera has been upgraded to a big extent and is now capable of shooting 1080p video. When first introduced with the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone camera was subpar. Then the iPhone 4 launch and we were introduced to 720p HD video. While some people were still not happy, the quality of the iPhone 4's camera was amazing, it was in your pocket, and you could film whatever you wanted. Now comes a new generation, full high definition 1080p video recording at 30 FPS. The quality is amazing and can most likely stand up to some higher end camera out there. With the release of the iPhone 4S come Siri, the new voice commands on crack as I like to call them. With this feature you can hold down your home button and say a command to your iPhone. You can ask questions or command Siri to do something for you like a Google search. Other commands include setting a timer, alarm, writing email, text messages, calling, and much much more. Siri will type out anything you dictate to it, so if you're driving and can't type on your phone, just tell Siri what you want to do/say and you're done. You have to see this thing to believe really as it even gets used to your voice. The Siri feature is currently only available on the iPhone 4S and requires a 3G or Wifi connection. Tim Cook, Apple's new CEO, who took over from his iconic predecessor Steve Jobs, announced its long-awaited fifth iPhone release. The new unit, named iPhone 4S, is basically the same design as previous iPhones but with a faster processing system. But there is disappointment in the world of technology as Apple announced its latest iPhone release, the first major new product from Apple in months. A dull product launch may not be what many had been expecting from the new management, which may now have to up its game a little if it's to maintain the soaring success of the Steve Jobs days. The internet has swirled with speculation in recent weeks about a release date for Apple's iPhone 5, and even whether the company will update its iconic smartphone at all this year. Now, the most tenuous of news reports has ramped the talk up again. A South Korean news site reported this week that Apple plans to release the phone in the fourth week of June. According to a translation by the MacRumors site, ETNews.co.kr reported that "Apple has confirmed" that time frame. There are a few problems here: It seems highly unlikely that the typically tight-lipped Apple would have confirmed a release date. The report also says the phone will be released in South Korea the same day it goes on sale in the United States. Possible. But, for comparison's sake, the iPhone 4 was released there about three months after its US debut. And, for what it may or may not be worth, the South Korean report appeared on April 1. But as Western news outlets jumped on the report, excitement spread. The words "iPhone 5 release date" were briefly at the top of Google's Hot Topics list Tuesday morning, and multiple US blogs were following up the MacRumors report -- albeit skeptically, in most cases. The original iPhone, the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 all had June releases. The iPhone 3G was released in early July. The Verizon iPhone release date could be coming as early as this fall. Sites from SlashGear to PhonesReview to InformationWeek have been tracking the latest Apple rumors in an effort to pinpoint when the iPhone might come to Verizon, and now even the Wall Street Journal has joined in the speculation game. The Wall Street Journal, citing 'people briefed on the matter,' suggested that the Verizon iPhone release date could be set for later this year. The Wall Street Journal writes, The people briefed on the matter said one of the new iPhones is being manufactured by Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which produced Apple's previous iPhones. The model that has CDMA capability, used by Verizon Wireless, is being manufactured by Pegatron Technology Corp., the contract manufacturing subsidiary of Taiwan's ASUSTeK Computer Inc., said these people. One person familiar with the situation said Pegatron is scheduled to start mass producing the CDMA iPhones in September, but it was unclear when Apple might make the model available.
