Al-Malahem: Our honorable Sheikh, there are fears and continuous discussions in Europe and America about the danger of growing sympathy for the Mujahideen from Muslim youth of European and American origin, and that they will carry out acts against America, and that they may travel abroad and join what the West regards as terrorist organizations. In your opinion, what causes the youth to do this? Sheikh Anwar: Let us take the example of Nidal Hasan. Nidal Hasan used to be an American Muslim of a type the US wants. Nidal Hasan used to pray, fast, and offer his Zakah, but at the same time, he was a soldier in the US army whose allegiance was to America. Then, as a result of America's crimes, he turned into a Mujahid in Allah's Cause. From being an American soldier, Nidal Hasan turned into a Mujahid who killed the soldiers with whom he once served. If America continues its crimes, we will see a new Nidal Hasan. Also, there are Mujahideen from the West and America in Afghanistan and Iraq, and this phenomenon will continue to grow, due to the crimes of the West and America in the Islamic world.
Al-Malahem: Our virtuous Sheikh, you support these kind of operations, but some Muslims Organizations in the United States denounce these types of operations and describe them as acts of terrorism and unjustified violence, claiming that they have nothing to do with Islam. For example, one of these organizations made the following statement: "We condemn this cowardly attack in the strongest terms possible and ask that the perpetrators be punished to the full extent of the law," and further, "The attack was particularly heinous in that it targeted the all-volunteer army that protects our nation. American Muslims stand with our fellow citizens in offering both prayers for the victims and sincere condolences to the families of those killed or injured." How would you refute the likes of these statements, and what are the reasons behind these types of stances? Sheikh Anwar: These rotten, shoddy, and defeatist statements are the types they make today. But if you return to some of these organizations in the US a decade or more ago, they supported the Jihad in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Chechnya, and Palestine. I was present in America during this period of time. We would propagate all aspects of Islam from the pulpits, from them Jihad in Allah's Cause, calling to the establishment of the Caliphate, and Wala and Bara (Alliance and Disavowal). We would speak openly. We had the freedom to say these things. We had more freedom than many countries in the Islamic world. But then America ...
Backstory May 7, 2010 Reports from Pakistan indicate that the American-born al Qaeda spokesman who has been charged with treason in the US was captured today in Pakistan's port city of Karachi. Adam Gadahn and an associate are reported to have been captured during a raid by Pakistani special forces on a home at the Super Highway in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city. US intelligence officials contacted by The Long War Journal said they believed Gadahn has been detained but would not confirm the report. Gadahn's capture was first reported in the Pakistani press; he was not directly named, however. Geo News identified the captive al Qaeda leader as Commander Abu Yahya Azam while Dawn identified him as Abu Yahya Mujahdeen al Adam. Adam Gahdan's nom de guerre is Abu Azzam al Amriki. "The Pakistani press often incorrectly reports the names of foreign fighters arrested in the country, especially Arabic noms de guerre," Arif Rafiq, the editor of The Pakistan Policy Blog, told The Long War Journal. Gadahn was likely detained in the Sohrab Goth neighborhood in Karachi, Rafiq said. "Sohrab Goth is a major Pashtun area in northern Karachi," he said. "Many Mehsud tribesmen live there." The reported capture of Gadahn comes the same day as As Sahab, al Qaeda's propaganda arm, released a video of him praising Major Nidal Hasan, the Muslim US Army officer who murdered 13 soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, on Nov. 5, 2009. "Brother Nidal is the ideal role model for every repentant Muslim in the ...

The recent FBI attempt to link Ft. Hood patsy Nidal Hasan to 9/11 has elicited plenty of eyeball-rolling among Americans accustomed to extreme government duplicity and mendacity. But so far nobody has noticed that the alleged Nidal Hasan - 9/11 link echoes an attempt just over a month earlier to frame a leading Muslim 9/11 truth activist as a "terrorist sympathizer."The Washington Post informs us:"Hasan attended the Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church in 2001, when its spiritual leader was Anwar al-Aulaqi, a figure who crossed paths with al-Qaeda associates, including two Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers, one senior US official said." This isn't the first government effort to frame an antiwar Muslim by suggesting an association with the "pro-terrorist" Al-Aulaki. On September 24th, Muslim Marine-vet 9/11 truth activist Muhammed Abdullah was raided by an apparently DHS-coordinated team of over 10 government agents on a transparently bogus pretext. According to Abdullah, the agents repeatedly asked him about whether he might commit a terrorist act, and what he thought about Al-Aulaki. Abdullah says he felt the agents were trying to set him up.The raid on Abdullah shows that the authorities were targeting antiwar and 9/11 truth activities of a Muslim veteran, and trying to smear that veteran by linking him to Al-Aulaki, more than a month before the shootings at Ft. Hood. Was the Ft. Hood incident a psychological operation designed to discredit a group that the government fears ...
Yemen, November 9, 2009: Nidal Hassan Did the Right Thing by Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki (Hafidhullah) "Nidal Hassan is a hero. He is a man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people. This is a contradiction that many Muslims brush aside and just pretend that it doesnt exist. Any decent Muslim cannot live, understanding properly his duties towards his Creator and his fellow Muslims, and yet serve as a US soldier. The US is leading the war against terrorism which in reality is a war against Islam. Its army is directly invading two Muslim countries and indirectly occupying the rest through its stooges. Nidal opened fire on soldiers who were on their way to be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. How can there be any dispute about the virtue of what he has done? In fact the only way a Muslim could Islamically justify serving as a soldier in the US army is if his intention is to follow the footsteps of men like Nidal. The heroic act of brother Nidal also shows the dilemma of the Muslim American community. Increasingly they are being cornered into taking stances that would either make them betray Islam or betray their nation. Many amongst them are choosing the former. The Muslim organizations in America came out in a pitiful chorus condemning Nidals operation. The fact that fighting against the US army is an Islamic duty today cannot be disputed. No scholar with a grain of Islamic knowledge ...
The US militarys just-released report into the Fort Hood shootings spends 86 pages detailing various slipups by Army officers but not once mentions Major Nidal Hasan by name or even discusses whether the killings may have had anything to do with the suspects view of his Muslim faith. And as Congress opens two days of hearings on Wednesday into the Pentagon probe of the Nov. 5 attack that left 13 dead, lawmakers want explanations for that omission. John Lehman, a member of the 9/11 commission and Navy Secretary during the Reagan Administration, says a reluctance to cause offense by citing Hasans view of his Muslim faith and the US militarys activities in Muslim countries as a possible trigger for his alleged rampage reflects a problem that has gotten worse in the 40 years that Lehman has spent in and around the US military. The Pentagon reports silence on Islamic extremism shows you how deeply entrenched the values of political correctness have become, he told TIME on Tuesday. Its definitely getting worse, and is now so ingrained that people no longer smirk when it happens. stevescomments.wordpress.com

The lawyer for the man accused of killing 13 soldiers and civilians at Fort Hood says he will ask for a psychiatric evaluation of his client before the trial begins. The lawyer, retired Army Colonel John Galligan, says he wants to determine whether Major Nidal Hasan fits US military guidelines of whether he can be held mentally responsible for his actions. If Major Hasan were determined to be not responsible for his actions, he would most likely be sent first to a military psychiatric facility, experts say. VOA's Carol Pearson has more.
New information continues to emerge on the background of Major Nidal Hasan, the US Army psychiatrist who allegedly opened fire on soldiers at Fort Hood in (the US state of) Texas. A 2007 US Army memo speaks of his poor performance treating soldiers at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC. His Palestinian relatives in the occupied West Bank, meanwhile, speak of his sudden turn to a strict adherence to Islam. VOA Jerusalem correspondent Luis Ramirez visited Nidal Hasan's Palestinian relatives and has this report.

The girls at the strip club Starz remembered Major Hasan well. He visited Starz, which features fully nude dancers, at least three times. According to Jennifer Jenner, one of the dancers at the club, he bought two $50 lap dances from her and one from another dancer. The devout Muslim brought his own beer and did not hesitate to pay the $50 cost for each lap dance. Right next door to the strip club is the gun store, Guns Galore, where authorities say Hasan bought his semi-automatic pistol and bullets and in the weeks before the shooting, 13 extra ammunition clips that could hold up to 30 bullets each.
All Muslims are not terrorists, but each is potentially so. As long as they worship and emulate a terrorist, every Muslim is a potential Nidal Hasan. Your friend, your spouse, or your parents could murder you in the name of Allah. Nidal Hasan was not a crazy man that snapped. He was a devout Muslim. There are many devout Muslims among us.

As the alleged Fort Hood shooter recovers, questions are surfacing, including what made Major Nidal Hasan take aim at his colleagues. Some are speculating he will claim he has post-traumatic stress disorder. A former military psychiatrist says mental health professionals in the armed services face tremendous stress and can crack. VOA's Laurel Bowman reports.
