At Ballinamore today Galway scored a 2-9 to 0-5 win over a Leitrim side that could only manage five scores over the hour in this second round tie of the FBD Insurance League, played before fair size crowd this game was in doubt due to fog over the Leitrim venue but ref Marty Duffy gave it the go ahead shortly before the starting time. Galway started well with Nicky Joyce pointing after eight minutes and the same played went on to add a further 1-3 in the half to leave the visitors leading by 1-4 to 0-2 at the break. A Paddy Kennedy goal for Galway after twenty minutes of the second half sealed the victory, with the other scores coming from Joyce 0-2 and a point each from Eoin Concannon, Matthew Clancy and Joe Bergin. A win or a draw next week will see Galway advance to the final.
