(March,3,2010) With the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Changes credibility in question, the UN looks to create a new panel to review its work. This intergovernmental panel on climate change, the senior authors that write these reports that are under investigation are appointed by their governments. This have politics laced throughout it. The point is a desperate attempt to herd cows back into the barn. The cows had got out when it turned out that there was blatant politicization of science with regard to Himalayan glaciers and crop field losses in Africa, sea level rise in Netherlands. List can go on and on. They need to drive these cows back into the barn. IPCC accepted earlier that its 2007 report that received the Nobel Prize had exaggerated the pace of Himalayan glaciers melting process and also overstated the level to which the Netherlands in below the sea level, Reuters reported.

ARC Identifier 2569675 / Local Identifier 111-TV-408. The story of General George C. Marshall, told on Army's "THE BIG PICTURE" -- This is a personal history film of General George C. Marshall who resigned from the Defense Department and settled in Leesburg, Virginia, in 1951. It is a pictorial record of his role as a public servant, spanning a critical half century, which ultimately placed him in the ranks of great American patriots. It is rare in history when a man who has distinguished his name in war goes on to greatness in peace. But for George Catlett Marshall it was a short step from a brilliant military career to his role as statesman, diplomat, and peacemaker winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace. Narrated by Walter Cronkite, and introduced by Master Sergeant Stuart Queen, "The General Marshall Story" will appeal to old and young for it has been skillfully written and produced. It approaches General Marshall's life story from an objective viewpoint with a beguilingly fresh format, used on THE BIG PICTURE this past season in relating the General Bradley story. The same excellence that applied in the Bradley story has been carried into "The General Marshall Story." Visually, and as a professional motion picture exploration for television into the lives of five-star Army generals, THE BIG PICTURE production staff has created a new list of subjects for forthcoming episodes in the weekly TV series. Department of Defense. Department of the Army. Office of the Deputy ...
Barack Obama, the US president, is set to receive the Nobel Peace prize in Norway, joining the distinguished list of Nobel laureates including Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi, Mother Teresa and the Red Cross organisation. But Obama's recent move to escalate the war in Afghanistan has raised questions as to whether he deserves the honour, and so early into his presidency too. Al Jazeera's Sebastian Walker captures the debate.

192-page b&w/color 9" x 12" softcover, $24.99 ISBN: 978-1-60699-150-3 www.fantagraphics.com For centuries, cartoonists have used their pens to fight a war against war, translating images of violent conflict into symbols of protest. Noted comics historian Craig Yoe brings the greatest of these artists together in one place, presenting the ultimate collection of anti-war cartoons. Together, these cartoons provide a powerful testament to the old adage, The pen is mightier than the sword, and remind us that so often in the last couple of centuries, it was the editorial cartoonist who could say the things his fellow newspapermen and women only dreamed of, enlightening and rallying a nation against unjust aggression. Readers of The Great Anti-War Cartoons will find stunning artwork in a variety of media and forms (pen-and-ink, wash, watercolor, woodcut — single images and sequential comic strips) from the hands of Francisco Goya to Art Young, from Robert Minor to Ron Cobb, and from Honoré Daumier to Robert Crumb, as well as page after page of provocative images from such titans as James Montgomery Flagg, CD Batchelor, Edmund Sullivan, Boardman Robinson, William Gropper, Maurice Becker, George Grosz, Gerald Scarfe, Bill Mauldin, Art Spiegelman and many more (see below for a complete list of contributors). The book also includes an Introduction by 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus and a Foreword by Library of Congress curator Sara W. Duke. This book is neither ...

President Barack Obama awoke this morning to a surprise few people experience: he was told he just won the nobel peace prize. tonight we asked new mexicans and a local political blogger what they think about the award. as our eric kahnert explains, the president wasn't the only one surprised by the prize. he's the fourth us president to receive the nobel peace prize. 48 year old barack obama was picked from 205 nominees for his efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. so what do new mexicans think? "you get honors for deeds, not for promises.-4" "i think he has done some things to bring people together but in terms of an actual accomplishment, i'm not totally convinced that that has happened.-9" we met up with political blogger joe monahan to get his take on the president's prize. "sometimes the nobel committee gives the prize for aspirations, what you hope to accomplish, of course he has the power and ability to accomplish a lot.--8" monahan says the political world is abuzz over the prize. "there's the hard core right who says this guy doesn't deserve the time of day, then there's the hard core left who's saying see we told you so this is going to rebuild america.-9" critics say obama has yet to make major breakthroughs on international conflicts like getting troops out of iraq, forcing iran to forgo its nuclear program and improving diplomacy with the muslim world. supporters say obama has been able to bailout the financial ...

Enter who you think will win the 2009 Peace Prize at the following website (you have until 9 October at 10:00 am, CET): nettskjema.uio.no For a list of speculated and leading nominees, visit the website for the Peace Research Institute in Oslo: www.prio.no What is the Peace Prize Pool you may ask? Well, Football (soccer) has its World Cup, skiing has its Holmenkollen (Oslo), and tennis has its Wimbledon. The Prize is the human rights and peace equivalent to these events. And just like these sporting events, you can build your excitement and, in your own special way, take part in the Prize by participating in a pool to predict the winner. The PPP is fun and exciting, whether you want to test your knowledge of current events, try out a newly-developed scientific prediction method, demonstrate your google search abilities by finding other prediction sites, use the PPP as an excuse to avoid working, or you simply welcome the invitation to find out who is influencing our world and consider who you think is most deserving of the Prize.

Israel Rejects Peace and Palestine's Right to Exist By: Genevieve Cora Fraser Following nearly 21600 days (60 years) of non-stop violence towards the Palestinians, Israel has once again refused Palestinians their Right to Return and Just Compensation as required by international law under UN Resolution 194. According to Nobel Prize winner, Vice Premier Shimon Peres, "the Palestinians should forgo their demands for the right of return for Palestinian refugees." "Right of return means only one thing - turning Israel into a Palestinian state," Peres claims. Shortly after the Zionist government was founded, Israel agreed to the terms of Resolution 194 as a basic condition of their legitimacy as a nation. Instead, they have spent 60 years denying Palestine's Right to Exist, despite the fact that it has existed since at least the ancient Persian Empire over 2500 years ago, as maps of the empire demonstrate. To insure that Palestine won't exist in the future, Israel has changed Israeli maps, renaming all of Palestine as part of Israel. Since 1967, Israel has also exercised a brutal siege over the population. Also known as, The Occupation, the Israeli government has waged non-stop violence against Palestine which includes, but is not limited to, the erection of a concentration camp Wall that allows them to starve and bombard the population at will. Recently, the Israeli cabinet voted overwhelmingly to boycott the newly established Palestinian Unity Government. Israel hopes its ...
Tom Brokaw on Meet the Press reading off the list of things Al Gore has rightfully said about George Bush, and asking him why he didn't bring those things up when he met with Bush when he was honored for receiving the Nobel Prize. Well first off since what was said between them was private, Brokaw doesn't know one way or the other what he said. And second, why is criticizing the worst administration in the history of this country "politics as usual" if you're not willing to slap Bush around when you're trying to get something you care about some attention during a face to face meeting? Brokaw is doing his best to immitate Fox News here and the entire interview was horrid on his part. Gore was more polite than he needed to be.

In the US many uninformed people had been awed by his philosophy on "peace" and "non-violence". This article will bare facts to the real color and intent of the Lama, why the US had given him a Nobel Prize and many more. - Kalovski Itim, The True Story of Maoist Revolution in Tibet, When the Dalai Lamas Ruled: Hell on Earth Revolutionary Worker #944, February 15, 1998 Hard Climate, Heartless Society Tibet is one of the most remote places in the world. It is centered on a high mountain plateau deep in the heart of Asia. It is cut off from South Asia by the Himalayas, the highest mountains in the world. Countless river gorges and at least six different mountain ranges carve this region into isolated valleys. Before all the changes brought about after the Chinese revolution of 1949, there were no roads in Tibet that wheeled vehicles could travel. All travel was over winding, dangerous mountain trailsby mule, by foot or by yaks which are hairy cow-like mountain animals. Trade, communications and centralized government were almost impossible to maintain. Most of Tibet is above the tree-line. The air is very thin. Most crops and trees won't grow there ...
Roberto Murolo Napoli, 19 gennaio 1912 -- Napoli, 13 marzo 2003 The large double--door entrance to via Cimarosa 25 in the Vomero section of Naples was half--closed this morning, as is customary when someone in the household passes away. And—as is customary—a small white card was affixed to the door. It was written by hand and read, succintly, "For the death of Roberto Murolo". He was 92. It was, perhaps, the only non--violent thing that could have happened in Naples yesterday to push today's visit to the city by the ex--royal family of Italy, the Savoys, out of the headlines. And it did. There are three main reasons why one--thousand miles of Italians—from the Alps to Sicily—know something about the culture and language of Naples. The first reason is the great playwright Eduardo de Filippo, on many a literary critic's "short list" of Those Who Should Have Got a Nobel Prize But Didn't." The second reason—on a more popular (and more vital) level—is Italy's greatest film comic, Antonio de Curtis, known simply as "Totò". The third reason is Roberto Murolo, the gentle and erudite chronicler of Neapolitan music and the best--known singer in the twentieth century of the "Neapolitan Song" If Murolo had simply been content to remain a guitarist and singer, he certainly would have done very well, but he was born to more than that. His father was the highly--regarded dialect poet Ernesto Murolo, part of the long tradition of dialect literature that included his own contemporary ...
"Evolutionists" think that intelligent design is just creationism repackaged. And that my friends, is...wait for it...a STRAWMAN ARGUMENT! This is so fucking pathetic it almost isn't funny. A strawman argument is an oversimplified version of your opponent's argument, which makes it easier to attack. THAT is the simplest definition of a strawman argument. Next on the list, they become experts on biology and genetics. For people who have never done any hard research or stepped into a lab, they sure know so much. Guys, I have a theory that would totally destroy these Gravitationists! I call it Intelligent Falling! God makes us stick to our planet's surface. And our planet isn't moving either! I can prove it by reading the bible! Y0u Gr4v1t4t10n1stz aR3 Sux0rz, LULZ! My cover of the great Ben Harper's "I Shall Not Walk Alone." A great, soulfully simple song. I hope you enjoy it! :) www.youtubeguitarblog.com Wikipedia.com says As a young man, Harper recorded the LP Pleasure and Pain with fellow folk guitarist Tom Freund. After this limited edition record, Harper got a record deal with Virgin Records, who released his debut album, Welcome to the Cruel World (1994). This was followed by Fight For Your Mind (1995) which became a college radio favorite and generated an abundance of songs which still fill his set list to this day. In 1999 at the Santa Barbara Bowl, Harper met Jack Johnson, who was unknown at the time and had not recorded. Harper obtained a demo tape of 12 of Johnson's songs that he forwarded to his producer, JP Plunier, with whom Johnson recorded his first album.[5]Ben Harper, Massey Hall, Toronto, ON Ben Harper, Massey Hall, Toronto, ON From early on in Harper's career, his music received more attention in Europe than it did in his home country. While he was a well-known and respected figure in the United States, he was a star in countries like France, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, and The Netherlands, receiving a great deal of airplay and critical acclaim. His popularity in Europe is such that he was French Rolling Stone magazine's Artist of the Year (Artiste De L'Année) in 2003, and his tour that year for Diamonds on the Inside played to packed arenas across the continent. In October 2004, Harper participated in the ...
The story behind 'The Quest for the Higgs'. In 1999 my father Martinus Veltman won the Nobel Prize in physics and quite quickly it became apparent that I had no idea for what. In fact, it's fair to say that barely anyone today knows much about the present forefront of physics. This was not always the case. There was a great celebration and basic public understanding of physics in the early 20th century. The celebrity of Einstein and his theory relativity, the discoveries of the structure of the atom and of course the atomic bomb. The general public knew to some extent the idea of fusion, a nucleus surrounded by electrons, etc.. But since then, the last 60 plus years of discovery has gone into a realm of mystery. Quarks, Leptons, Higgs, Quantum Mechanics, Weak Force, Gauge Theory, and the list of mysterious terms goes on and on. However, my dad believed that we are at a point where the picture of particle physics has gotten quite clear and can be explained to the layman... me! We decided to make an educational film and the task of writing it fell upon me. What followed was two years of intense learning. Reading one layman book after another and asking my dad numerous questions. Of particular help was in fact my dad's book "Fact and Mysteries of Particle Physics." A complex book but it is all there without crazy mathematical formulas. The Eureka moment of how to explain Particle Physics came with the book QED by Richard Feynman. In the foreword he explains that he was asked ...
