Views of Notre Dame de Paris accompanied by Perotin's 4-part organum "Sederunt principes," believed to have been composed for performance in that (half finished) cathedral on the feast of St Stephen in 1199. There are excellent older recordings by Alfred Deller and the Deller Consort (Harmonia Mundi France), by David Munrow and the Early Music Consort of London (EMI), and by Paul Hillier and the Hilliard Ensemble (ECM). But the most beautiful performance and recording is by Anthony Pitts and Tonus Peregrinus (Naxos).

BJ Raji, a 6-1 325 senior NT from Boston College makes one of the most impressive plays I have ever seen from a interior defensive lineman. He is a standout NFL prospect in the middle and is having a wonderful senior season. Watch for his name to be called early on draft day.
autor tlumacznia ANDRZEJ OZGA ... Notre Dame de Paris is a French-Canadian musical which debuted on 16 September 1998 in Paris. It is based upon the novel Notre Dame de Paris by the French novelist Victor Hugo. The music was composed by Riccardo Cocciante (also known as Richard Cocciante) and the lyrics are by Luc Plamondon. Since its debut, it has played throughout France, South Korea, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. A shorter version in English was performed in 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) and a full-length London production, also in English, ran for a seventeen months. The show has also been translated into Italian, Korean, Russian, Catalan, German, Czech, Spanish and Belarusian. It has also been translated independently into (but never performed in) Swedish and Armenian. Notre Dame de Paris, according to the Guinness Book of Records, had the most successful first year of any musical ever. The score has been recorded at least seven times to date (2007): the original French concept album, which featured Israeli singer Achinoam Nini (aka Noa) as Esmeralda was followed by a live, complete recording of the original Paris cast. A complete recording of the score in Italian was made, along with a single disc of excerpts in Spanish from the Madrid production. The original London cast album featured several of the original Paris stars, but only preserved a fraction of the score in English. The orchestral group I Fiamminghi recorded a CD of melodies from the score. A ...
On Monday, July 21, 2008, the Milwaukee chapter of the University of Notre Dame Alumni Club hosted its 8th annual golf outing and dinner benefiting the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation. The head Notre Dame football coach from 1964-74, Parseghian led his teams to the consensus national championship in both 1966 and 1973. The Milwaukee event was headlined by Irish quarterback from 1966-68, Terry Hanratty, whose image adorned the cover of the October 28, 1966 edition of Time Magazine, and was a three-time finalist for the Heisman Trophy. About $25000 were raised for the APMRF's work to find a cure for Niemann Pick-C, a terminal disease that claimed the lives of three of Ara's grandchildren. More than 94 percent of all money raised goes directly to research into a cure for NP-C. Contributions can be made either at www.parseghian.org, or mailed to: APMRF 3530 E. Lyric: Quasimodo: So many times out here I've watched a happy pair Of lovers walking in the night They had a kind of glow around them It almost looked like heaven's light I knew I'd never know That warm and loving glow Though I might wish with all my might No face as hideous as my face Was ever meant for heaven's light But suddenly an angel has smiled at me And kissed my cheek without a trace of fright I dare to dream that she Might even care for me And as I ring these bells tonight My cold ...

The angels keep their ancient places- Turn but a stone and start a wing! 'Tis ye, 'tis your estrangèd faces, That miss the many-splendored thing. (Francis Thompson, "The Kingdom of God") Reading these lines again reminded me of a favourite hymn from my early school days. Then going through my old tapes, I found "Sacred Music from the Church of the Holy Hand" (1990) with this very hymn on it. The melody & text come from the Notre Dame Hymnal (long out of print). It's sung by the Choir of the ...
Performed by Pierre Cochereau. Dieu Parmi Nous ('God Among Us') was a popular showpiece at organ concerts in the 60's & 70's. Not so much any more. Maybe because it's fiendishly difficult to play. Or maybe because Messiaen's popularity has waned. He's a very difficult composer to like; it's not sensual music, it's intellectual (in my humble opinion).
Pierre Cochereau performs one of Louis Vierne's "Pièces de Fantaisie" in a recording made in the early 1970's. Cochereau was titulaire at Notre Dame from 1955 until his death, at the age of 59, in 1984. In the first 84 years of the 20th century, the organ bench at Notre Dame was occupied by only 3 organists: Vierne, Léonce de Saint Martin, & Cochereau.

"Here Come The Irish" with John Scully '80. Is it the campus, with its Golden Dome and Basilica rising above the quads? Or is it the powerful campus liturgies and sacred quiet of the Grotto? Is it the intense commitment of faculty who ignite our students' learning? Or the thriving community in the dorms, where bonds are developed that link alumni for life? Is it the storied traditions of Fighting Irish athletics? Or is it something more? Something that can only be described as the spirit of ...
