Koreagate was an American political scandal in 1976 involving South Korean political figures seeking influence from 10 Democratic members of Congress. An immediate goal of the scandal seems to have been reversing President Richard Nixon's decision to withdraw troops from South Korea. It involved the Korea Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) allegedly funneling bribes and favors through Korean businessman Tongsun Park in an attempt to gain favor and influence for South Korean objectives. Some 115 members of Congress were supposedly involved. Speculation also focused on the role of Unification Church founder Sun Myung Moon, former KCIA Director Kim Hyung Wook, and former South Korean Prime Minister Chung Il Kwon. Oren Ritter Lewis (October 7, 1902 - June 12, 1983) was a United States federal judge. Lewis was born in Seymour, Indiana. He received an LL.B. from George Washington University Law School in 1939. He was in private practice in Arlington County, Virginia from 1940 to 1960. Lewis was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Lewis was nominated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on March 21, 1960, to a seat vacated by C. Sterling Hutcheson. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 31, 1960, and received his commission the same day. He assumed senior status on January 1, 1974. Lewis's service was terminated on June 12, 1983, due to death. He died in Arlington, Virginia. Frank Warren Snepp (born 3 May 1943 ...
It's funny, the evening he died, I was considering uploading this and his ever famous 1980 DNC speech. Of course, at the time I was unaware of his death, then found upon waking next morning, the news of his passing. Anyways, to most people, this is a small issue, and to you it probably is, but TSA has constantly denied collective bargaining rights it's workers since day one. We're allowed to unionize, but we have no agreement with TSA. I work for TSA, at Boston Logan International Airport, which I may remind is the airport were flights American Airlines 11 and United Airlines 175, both departed from, hijacked and flown into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Boston is also of course, the capital of Massachusetts and Senator Kennedy's hometown. We need this bargaining rights because there are destructive, anti-worker policies issued both by national and local management that harm us, our jobs and our lives. This was from the last attempt, two years ago, exactly a year from when I joined TSA. This was part of a bill to implement more of the 9/11 Commission's recommendations to improve homeland security, of which TSA plays a big part in. There was an amendment put into the Senate version bill (the Improving America's Security Act of 2007) which would give us collective bargaining rights submitted by Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri). Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) and most of the Republicans opposed it. President Bush opposed it, he ...
