The Korean War (1950--1953) was a military conflict between the Republic of Korea, supported by the United Nations, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and People's Republic of China (PRC), with air support from the Soviet Union. The war began on 25 June 1950 and an armistice was signed on 27 July 1953. The war was a result of the political division of Korea by agreement of the victorious Allies at the conclusion of the Pacific War. The Korean peninsula had been ruled by Japan from 1910 until the end of World War II. In 1945, following the surrender of Japan, American administrators divided the peninsula along the 38th Parallel, with United States troops occupying the southern part and Soviet troops occupying the northern part. The failure to hold free elections throughout the Korean Peninsula in 1948 deepened the division between the two sides, and the North established a Communist government. The 38th Parallel increasingly became a political border between the two Koreas. Although reunification negotiations continued in the months preceding the war, tension intensified. Cross-border skirmishes and raids at the 38th Parallel persisted. The situation escalated into open warfare when North Korean forces invaded South Korea on 25 June 1950. It was the first significant armed conflict of the Cold War. The United Nations, particularly the United States, came to the aid of the South Koreans in repelling the invasion. After early defeats by the North Korean military ...
Korean Central Television (조선중앙방송) KPA Warning on US-S. Korea War Maneuvers Pyongyang, August 16 A spokesman for the General Staff of the Korean People's Army Sunday released a statement in connection with the fact that the provocative joint naval exercises staged by the US imperialist warmongers and the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors in the East and West Seas of Korea is to be led to all-out war maneuvers codenamed Ulji Freedom Guardian to be launched from August 16 to 26. The statement said: Huge armed forces of the US imperialist aggressor troops including nuclear strike means had already been deployed in south Korea and its surrounding waters and operation groups of the three services are placed on alert in the central Pacific line and the US mainland ready to be hurled into the Korean front in case of contingency. Involved in the maneuvers will be not only active-duty personnel and reserve forces of the south Korean puppet group but local puppet administrative organs and civilian enterprises. The "Cheonan" sinking case was the first phase of the reckless anti-DPRK military provocations based on unprecedented fabrication and smear campaign while the war maneuvers including the Ulji Freedom Guardian joint exercises represent the phase of practical actions aimed at a full-dressed military invasion. This is because the projected war maneuvers under the spurious signboard of "defense" are belligerent and undisguised DPRK-targeted war exercises. The prevailing ...

english.ntdtv.com For the first time in over two decades, South Korea held a nationwide civil defense drill in Seoul on Tuesday. Unification ministry officials were seen participating in an anti-biochemical training exercise. [Huh Seong-joon, National Emergency Management Agency] "We are holding a nationwide civil defense drill of biochemical exercises for the first time, in 21 years since we need to build up the public perception of national security after our warship Cheonan was attacked." Tensions between the two Koreas have been escalating over recent weeks following the sinking of a South Korean war ship off the western coast, killing 46 sailors. Seoul has accused the North of torpedoing the Cheonan... accusations the North has thrown out. On Saturday, North Korea renewed its threat to shoot down loudspeakers that the South has set up at the border to broadcast anti-Pyongyang propaganda messages. In what it called a "crucial declaration," a North Korean army general said South Korea should bear in mind that this would be a merciless military action that would see Seoul turning into a sea of flames. Prime Minister Chung Un-chan said at a parliamentary session to review the ship sinking incident that his country was ready for any possible attacks. [Chung Un-chan, South Korean Prime Minister]: "Even before North Korea threatened us with the expression, 'Seoul turning into a sea of flames,' we legislated a special law for the safe and successful G20 Summit on June 8. Korean Central Television (조선중앙방송) Pyongyang, June 12 KPA General Staff Issues Crucial Declaration The General Staff of the Korean People's Army on Saturday issued the following crucial declaration: The commander of forces of the Korean People's Army in the central sector of the front had already solemnly clarified internally and externally a firm stand of the KPA that it would blow up with sighting shots loudspeakers and all other means for a psychological warfare in case the group of traitors resumes the psychological warfare against the DPRK in the areas along the front. Defying this warning, the group of traitors hell-bent on the confrontation with fellow countrymen is working with blood-shot eyes to make preparations for resuming the all-out psychological warfare against the DPRK at any cost. After Kim Thae Yong, puppet minister of Defence, had declared the measure to resume the psychological warfare against the DPRK in the wake of traitor Lee Myung Bak's issue of "a statement to the people" on May 24, the puppet army has already set up loudspeakers for the psychological warfare at 11 places in areas along the Military Demarcation Line and is stepping up its preparations to install them at more than 30 places at the second phase and at 94 places under a long-term plan. North Korea has warned of an all-out military strike to destroy South Korean loudspeakers along their common border -- a move it says may turn Seoul into "a sea of flames". South Korea has reinstalled the speakers to resume propaganda broadcasts across the border, after an international investigation in May concluded that the North was behind a torpedo attack that sank a South Korean patrol ship in March. In a statement released on Saturday, the general staff of the Korean People's Army said South Korea's move is a direct declaration of a war against the North, and that it will completely destroy the speakers in an all-out military strike. Meanwhile, the UN Security Council decided to hold an unofficial meeting on Monday to hear from the team that investigated the sinking of the ship. South Korea took the case to the Council last week, calling it a provocative military action by the North. Mexican Ambassador to the United Nations, Claude Heller, who is chairing the Council this month, told NHK the meeting intends to collect as much information as possible. Heller refrained from commenting on what steps may be taken after the meeting, saying only that he will need to see how member states react. He said once the necessary information has been obtained, the Council will discuss the matter in a more formal format before coming to a conclusion. 2010/06/12 22:07(JST)
Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervour, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar." — Julius Caesar "World events do not occur by accident. Korean Central Television (조선중앙방송) Pyongyang, May 26 CPRK Declares Resolute Actions against S. Korea A spokesman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea Tuesday issued the following statement: Traitor Lee Myung Bak of south Korea on Monday made public a "statement to the people" over the case of the sinking of a warship of its puppet army, in which he viciously slandered the DPRK again. He formally announced a ban on the passage of DPRK's ships through waters of the south side, "stop to trade and exchange between the south and the north", the exercise of "the right to self-defense" and the reference of the case to the UNSC, daring vociferate about "responsibility" and "apology". Then the chiefs of the puppet ministries of defense, foreign affairs and trade and unification called a joint press conference at which they ballyhooed about follow-up measures. This is little short of formally declaring that they would not rule out a war by standing in confrontation with the DPRK to the last. It is traitor Lee Myung Bak and his puppet conservative group that should be responsible for the said case, apologize for it and face a punishment as it is a tragic product of their despicable sycophantic and treacherous moves and reckless actions for escalating confrontation with fellow countrymen. As far as the "results of investigation" announced by the puppet group are concerned, their conspiratorial nature is brought into bolder relief as the days go by to be ...
North Korea has cut off key communication lines with the South, as tensions show no sign of easing on the troubled Korean peninsula. Seoul's Unification Ministry said Wednesday that the disconnected lines include links between the maritime officials of the two countries, AFP reported. North Korea also threatened to close the last road link with the South. Pyongyang has also warned it will block South Korea's access to a border zone if Seoul resumes what it called its 'propaganda broadcasts.' The move comes a day after North Korea threatened to cut all ties with the South. South Korea has responded by stopping all trade relations with the North. The tensions are rising over Seoul's claims that Pyongyang sank its warship in March, killing 46 sailors. Seoul says the torpedo was fired from a North Korean submarine. The North, however, has rejected the claim as "smear campaign," insisting the allegations are 'equivalent to a declaration of war'.

Exclusive Video by rodrigorojo1 dprk's Determination to Build Great Prosperous Powerful Nation Manifested The Democratic People's Republic of Korea will frustrate any enemy provocations and surely build a great prosperous powerful nation, in which the people will lead a happy life with nothing to desire more in the world, as all its people are single-mindedly united around General Secretary Kim Jong Il and it has powerful defence capability provided by dint of the Songun politics. The DPRK is waging a dynamic drive after singling it out as its main tasks to build an economic power and bring about a substantial turn in improving the people's standard of living in hearty response to the people's living-first policy this year marking its 61th birthday. The powerful war deterrent provided by Kim Jong Il with his unique Songun politics serves as a powerful guarantee that makes it possible for the people to concentrate all efforts on economic construction free from any worries and improve their standard of living as early as possible. For the DPRK which has stood in military confrontation with the United States for more than half a century a peaceful environment is a prerequisite to the people's bountiful and highly civilized life. There has been constant tension on the Korean Peninsula because of the undisguised hostile policy the US has pursued to stifle the DPRK after listing it as part of an "axis of evil" and a target of preemptive nuclear strike. The Bush administration staged large-scale exercises for a nuclear war against the DPRK together with the south Korean anti-reunification forces in March this year despite the facts that talks and negotiations were held between the DPRK and the US and the October 4 Declaration for the Development of the North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity was adopted. The DPRK officially clarified more than once that it is ready to treat the US as a friendly nation if the latter is willing to drop its hostile policy toward the former and coexist with it in peace. The people of the DPRK never allow anyone to infringe upon their dignity because they keenly felt that the country's sovereignty is more precious than their lives as they underwent sufferings as a ruined nation for nearly half a century. The escalated moves of the US to stifle the DPRK by force would only harden the Korean people's will to bolster up its capability for self-defence under the uplifted banner of Songun.
