Learn how to build robust web services using CouchDB's built-in facility for near-realtime updates. We explore a few patterns _changes can be used for: - Building custom external indexers like CouchDB-Lucene - Powering CouchDB's replication - Real-time chat applications - Back-end application logic and multi-document validations (docs as state machines)
MongoDB -- from "humongous" -- is an open source, non-relational, document-oriented database. The goal of the MongoDB project is to bridge the gap between key-value stores (which are fast and highly scalable) and traditional RDBMS systems (which provide rich queries and deep functionality). This talk will provide an introduction to MongoDB from one of the developers working on the project. The webcast will be accessible to those who are completely new to MongoDB and non-relational databases, but will touch on some of the advanced functionality that makes MongoDB a compelling option for all web developers.
Abstract: Relational database systems are pervasive and well understood, but for some tasks the spreadsheet model is not sufficiently scalable and applicable. The talk will present alternatives to the mainstream data processing and show where it fits best.
How to set up and configure replica sets for automated failover and redundancy in MongoDB 1.6+. Text tutorial inc command line / config parameters is at blog.boxedice.com See also: configuring sharding www.youtube.com
CouchDB is known for having a flexible schemaless JSON storage API. But that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to flexibility. In this webcast we learn how replication can be used to share data securely, build offline-capable applications, provide redundancy, and manage large-scale clusters. We start with replication basics, then cover offline replication, filtered replication, and replication in a cluster.
Presented by Jan Lehnardt of Couch.io, this webcast highlights new features and refines in the latest and upcoming release of CouchDB. It rehashes old solutions to problems that are now way easier to solve. We look at how the new features help you make your life and development work easier. We cover: Views, Replication, Virtual Hosts & the Rewriter, Authentication. Chock full of awesome!
Steve Wooledge of Aster Data gives a 5 minute talk on 'Using Aster Data SQL with Hadoop NoSQL' at BigDataCamp (June 28th before Hadoop Summit 2010)
A tech talk at outbrain about cassandra's internals (hebrew)
The good folks at InfoChimps put together a Data Cluster Meetup at SxSW. In this video, Jan Lenhardt, Wynn Netherland, Stu Hood and Werner Vogels duke it out to determine which non-relational database is best.
CouchDB is a distributed document database accessed via HTTP and JSON and queried using JavaScript Map Reduce. CouchDB focuses on simplicity and reliability, with a data replication model that makes it well suited for mobile and offline applications. In this webcast, J. Chris Anderson gives a technical overview and describes some of CouchDB's existing users, with plenty of time for audience-driven questions and answers.

Do you want to build a system that uses a graph database, like what Twitter, Yelp, and Facebook are built on? Well, Neo4j is one that lets you build a "noSQL" solution and founder Emil Eifrem talks us through what this technology could be used to build and also tells me what he sees happening in the social networking space.

Watch this interview with two leaders of CPX Interactive. Using Objectivity/DB, our patented and uniquely distributed data management solution, CPX Interactive has developed technology to support targeted and personalized advertising. Their systems need to serve more than 30 billion impressions per month (or roughly 12000 ad impressions and database inserts per second). Also, the system will need the capacity to grow exponentially in the future. Sid Fein, executive VP of technology at CPX Interactive says "Objectivity (is) really the leader within the class of commercially available NoSQL databases."

Just a quick overview of doing an installation of tokyo cabinet and tokyo tyrant on ubuntu server 9.10. I'll cover a couple of the configuration options, but I'll leave tuning parameters for another video. Sorry for the splitting, I didn't know about the youtube 10min video limit for this video, the split between videos may be very off... Thanks for watching and have fun playing around with Tokyo Cabinet and Tokyo Tyrant.
