Remember when Obama said he wanted a national security force? Not the national guard, but a civilian one that has not sworn to uphold the Constitution? Obama has admitted traveling to Indonesia and other foreign nations all through his college years, but, how did he do this? He didn't have a US passport until he was issued one as a US Senator. World Net Daily columnist Janet Porter, wrote in her column on 25 Nov 2008 "No record of Obama holding an American passport prior to the one he received once becoming a US senator has been found." "If Obama would have been a US citizen, 8 USC §1481(a)(2) provides loss of nationality by native born citizens upon "taking an oath or making an affirmation or other formal declaration of allegiance to a foreign state ... after having attained the age of eighteen years," in violation of 8 USC §1401(a)(1). Simply put, since Indonesia did not allow for dual citizenship, if Obama got that passport in 1981, when he was 20 years old, he effectively renounced any US citizenship he may have had."

Nov. 4, 2009: Visions & Voices presents: Art, Culture, Politics: A Conversation with Shepard Fairey Join communication professor Sarah Banet-Weiser for a conversation with Shepard Fairey, a contemporary artist, graphic designer and political and social activist. He emerged from the skateboarding scene in the mid-1990s and has since established his own "brand" as a cultural entrepreneur. His iconic images, like the OBEY artwork and the Obama "HOPE" poster, are central elements of a contemporary cultural and creative economy. As a cultural entrepreneur of the current era, Fairey has uniquely tapped into those relationships that historically have seemed so vexing—politics, consumption and marketing. Fairey represents a new kind of cultural producer, at home with commerce and cultural politics simultaneously. In a lively conversation, Shepard Fairey will discuss art, politics and consumer culture. On May 21, 2009, at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC, USA Today's political editor Catalina Camia (USC Class of 1986) moderated a panel discussion about the Obama administration titled "USC in DC: One Hundred Days -- A Look at the First 100 Days of the New President and Congress." The event featured two of USC's leading faculty members: Susan Estrich, the Robert Kingsley Professor of Law and Political Science at the USC Gould School of Law, and Dan Schnur, director of the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics at USC. The USC in DC event was co-sponsored by the USC Alumni Association, the USC Annenberg School for Communication, the USC College of Letters, Arts & Sciences, the USC Gould School of Law, the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics, the USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development and the USC Alumni Club of the nation's capital.
www.orangecountyfilms.net John Ziegler was detained by the USC Campus Police for simply asking questions about the Excellence in Journalism award being given to Katie Couric at the Journalism building at USC on 04 He was cuffed and roughed up by campus security after John refused to give up his right to free speech. You have to watch the whole thing to believe what happens. What I Have to Say: Today I went to USC to witness and ask questions about Katie Couric getting the Walter Cronkite journalism award for her interview of Sarah Palin. I intended to also give away copies of my film but I was literally prevented from doing so. I did not go there hoping for or expecting any sort of confrontation, especially with law enforcement. I am simply shocked and horrified by what happened here, as should every freedom loving American. I did absolutely nothing wrong and I was handcuffed, detained and literally abused by law enforcement at the event. The video below will speak for itself, but I will have plenty to say about this very disturbing episode. NOTE: As many of you already know, I was arrested and roughed up by USC campus police while I was outside the event where Katie Couric got her journalism award for her Sarah Palin interview. The US-China relationship is complicated and is vital for both countries and the world. Where do Senators McCain and Obama stand on US-China trade, security, environmental, and human rights issues? How important has policy toward China been in past elections and in 2008? These are the questions explored in a USC US-China Institute documentary. Chinese today enjoy great freedom in their everyday lives, but Americans of all political leanings express concern about Chinas human rights record. The Chinese governments suppression of demonstrations and riots in and near Tibet in March again focused attention on the issue, as did restrictions on demonstrations during the Olympic Games. Like his predecessors, President George W. Bush has met with Chinese political, religious, and labor rights activists and has called on Chinese authorities to do more to secure basic liberties. These criticisms and those of Bushs predecessors have had limited impact. china.usc.edu

How social networking is transforming the 2008 presidential election. USC Marshall's Morley Winograd is co-author of "Millennial Makeover: MySpace, YouTube and the Future of Politics" (Rutgers University Press, March 2008) and director of CTM, the recently renamed Institute for Communication and Management Technologies at USC Marshall School of Business. Here, Dr. Winograd talks about how social networking is transforming the 2008 elections. The new communications technologies, and the "Millennial" generation that has embraced them, are already overturning traditional techniques, creating a many-to-many conversation and flattened hierarchies that have long-term implications for business, marketing and much else.
