Olympic officials say Nodar Kumaritashvili's death was caused by his failure to compensate. Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, was in the final turn of the track, going nearly 90 mph, when he flipped off his sled, over the wall and into a steel post outside the track at the Whistler Sliding Center.Kumaritashvili was immediately attended to by emergency crews who tried to revive him at the scene, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead. "The whole Olympic family is struck by this tragedy, which clearly casts a shadow over these Games," International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge said in a written statement on Friday.
