Myself and the Mahal Foundation will be doing a missions excursion to the Philippines from February 1-8. This will be 7 days of serving the poor and the needy, learning about the filipino culture, and helping victims of the recent typhoon ondoy. I raised over $1500 for the Typhoon victims online via uStream, hope ya'll remember that broadcast #HealPhilippines, and instead of giving it to a huge organization, I have decided to directly use that money to give the victims of Ondoy items such as but not limited to water, blankets, and food. help me raise money for my trip =] go here: ajrafael.blogspot.com -- to donate for my trip [airfare (that i put on a credit card!), and more money to donate to the victims of Ondoy)] thank you SO MUCH, from the bottom of my heart =] means so much. i'm sorry i havent blogged in a while, i just have been so busy with shows, Music Speaks, and this Philippines trip. i love ya'll
This video is about the heroic traits that is present in each one of us and the involvement of Gawd Kalinga (GK) in the relief efforts. The real hero steps up when needed the most. Last September, disaster struck as typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) hit the Philippine shores. The destruction was non-discriminating. The rich and the poor alike were impacted. Heroism is also non-discriminating!!! As the flood waters subsided, heroes from all walks of life emerged, with selfless courage of wanting to help. This video is only a snippet of what actually transpired on the ground. GK and it's army of volunteers once again answered the call for help. Heroes on the ground. You know who you are. THANK YOU! The figures: 880175 families affected 6058 GK volunteers stepped up In 12 days of operation Walang Iwanan (Leave no one behind) GK was able to distribute: 195130 food packs to 44 barangays in 16 towns and cities. With it's infrastructure in place, GK was able to effectively reach areas that were unreachable, courtesy of the military who put their resources as needed to assist, For more information about GK, please visit our website or email us. www.gk1world.com info@gk1world.com

On Sept. 26, the Philippine capital Manila and its neighboring provinces suffered one of nature's worst beating. Typhoon Ondoy, international code name Ketsana, poured more than a month's worth of rain in six hours, submerging most parts of the bustling metropolis, drowning at least a hundred people as of press time. My prayers to the victims, and may we emerge victorious and live by the lessons of this tragedy. Photos by Reuters | Music: "Heaven On Earth" by Nicole Pasternak
A short movie made from photos taken from my brother's camera while stranded at Tire Boy. The cars were hoisted up, yet still the flood waters reached them. All the customers and employees rushed to the second floor of the building.
A simple tribute to all the Filipinos who suffered from typhoon Ondoy
On the way home very early in the morning, 1:30am, of 26 September 2009, though it rained never could i have imagine what lay in store the rest of the day. Along E. Rodriguez Ave., Quezon City, about 8:30am, I was attending to a family school affair at the covered court of a neaby college. It rained a bit but then, it started to pour. I figured to leave without finishing the affair. When I left the same road i took was flooded - I was about a kilometer away from home but the flood made it look like a far away place. I had to take the chance - I drove the car right through the waves. The waves pounded the car - and I was careful not to let the engine die down. Though I made it through to dry land, those that I left behind were not as fortunate. I was at my place, and in the security of four concrete walls - i felt like noah inside his boat. September 26, 2009 Brgy. Bangkal, Makati Typhoon Ondoy
I went to UST because of the treasurer's forum organized by CSC in cooperation with SOCC & ASC (Accountancy Student Council). The venue was in Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy, 5th floor. At first, there were droplets of water. Then, for few hours, the droplets formed together to become the "flood". =p Suspension of classes around 11am, but we can't go home yet. I waited til 6pm for the flood to vanished, but it just keeps getting higher. I have no intension of staying overnight, thus I have no choice but to walk against the flood. See how I travel along with the flood..... with the trashcans, the cars, the streetlights, snakes, woods floating around me. See how I survived walking for 2 hours from Morayta to Binondo. +_+ Godbless.
Raw footage of Typhoon Ondoy in Manila. I'm an expat - living here in manila for almost 1 year now, and on 9/26/2009 I got to experience my very first typhoon. I will try and translate some of the Tagalog for you as best I can. (I did not shoot this footage.)
