All work and no play makes Rafiq, Qaisar, Sudesh, Manjeet & Shyam an arse holes. So we 4/5 friends make it a point every 6-7months to go for long ride anywhere within a radius of 300kms from New Delhi. We've been to Corbett National Park, Nainital, Dehradoon and Mussourie so far. No we don't go for sight seeing. We'd start early morning for the ride and take breaks every 30-40km to relax our butts in between the highway. We'd look for water pumps in sugarcane fields to take shower. We'd blacken our face with the heat and dust. we'd soil our mean machines. On reaching the destination, we'd hunt for decent place to spend the night. roam the towns the following day and get started for night riding. Now thats the best part of our trip-always. It'd be 250-300 kms of dead highway with few trucks to overtake and then its a race among ourselves. our helmet visor slicing the wind at speed of 80-100km/h. and many a times the rider and the one on pillion fall asleep while the wheels have rolled for few hundred metres. We'd suddenly realise that the other chap hasn't been in view for quite sometime. the phone starts ringing to get the location of the other bikers. One would stop and wait for the rest. then we smoke and pee alongside. No shops open in the dead hour, no mortals other than the bats, just rest. spend 20-30mins chit-chat and planning strategy for the remaining length of the road to home. start the broom broom. release the clutches and its back to delhi by sunrise. We now ...
This is no joke. When it comes to telephone lines and internet connect with his fans, it is Shahid Kapoor who is poster boy for all phoners — at least where ZOOM is concerned. As many know, the industrys first (and only) 100% Bollywood channel has launched a new show called Ring-A-Star where the star takes calls on TV, even as callers can connect directly with him and speak via phones and SMS call-ins. Tonight its the industry hottie who is gonna take calls from his fans from all over the world — some of who will stay awake at odd hours across the world to chat with their Badmaash Company hero. And ever since weve opened lines to log the callers, weve already been flooded with calls from fans of Shahid for Ring-A-Star, from all over the world. At last count, over 2000-plus calls from all part of the globe. When we told Shahid that he may have to face a deluge later today, he couldnt stop grinning and is eager as hell to connect with his fans directly. I am overwhelmed and humbled, said Shahid to us when being informed of the phone-flood. Its a different feeling altogether to speak directly with your fans. They say such wonderful things that just make your day. And even their mild criticisms are so well-meaning. Nothing beats the power of fans. And nothing beats the power of direct connect. I thank ZOOM for this opportunity via this exciting new show Ring-A-Star. So do call me tonight? he winked like the badmaash he is. Talk about being a pin-up boy — for all call centeres ...

VG Siddhartha is not content to keep his coffee shops contained to India. He's going global, one step at a time. Starbucks might take a few lessons on how to run a consumer-friendly cafe -- he's built a conference room into one of the stores he showed me. The coffee isn't bad either. PS Bangalore is one place where I haven't seen Starbucks.

Gday, I was inspired by the Larry Walters, who did the ballooning on July 2nd, 1982 with 45 helium filled balloons. He took along water, a parachute and a portable CB radio to alert air traffic to his presence. I wanted to do something like him from last 9 years with an aim in my mind to help our society. I have not any professional training in flying but I always dreamed to fly in blue sky. I studied by myself on Google and managed everything which was required for flying. On Nov 14th, 2009, crew stated preparation in an open ground around midnight. All my friends and family members were encouraging me and were helping me to create my homemade aircraft. On Nov 15th 2009, everything was ready by 8.00 am. It was really cold with a dense fog all over the ground. Wind speed was about 13 km/h. I had planned to fly around 8.30 am but it was delayed due to bad weather. I was waiting for the clear weather with good visibility. I was too desperate to fly. Every min was passing like an hour. I was surrounded by the village peoples and news channels crew. All villagers were wondered to see huge balloons. I had chat with them. They had also arranged tea and cookies for us. By passing time, sky was going to clear enough. I again checked gas level and other arrangements. Two 16 ft. balloons were needed to refill again to carry enough weight. Around 12.00 noon, weather was clear enough but wind speed was still around 8-10 km/h. At last, I decided to fly with the current conditions. On ...
Sri Bhagavan on 17th November 2009 via video conference talks to the European course coordination in Verona, Italy. Transcript of another Skype conference with Sri Bhagavan, 17th November 2009, Forest Row, Sussex, UK (part 2/2): Q: The most important aspect of the Oneness movement is Life is relationship. How should we take it in the light of the current situation going on in Oneness organisation? B: My way of understanding things is a bit strange. I have transferred the karma of one person into another (which is believed to be possible in India). Once a daughter and a mother came to me and the mother was asking me to transfer the cancer of her daughter to her. I refused initially that I cannot do it, but after much persistence from the mother, I did so. And after few days, the mother died and the daughter was free of cancer and saved. So this is possible. There is an incident from the past where in Ramana Maharishi was suffering from cancer and a person asked him if it can be transferred to him. At that point, Ramana Maharishi says, Do you think I am carrying my own cancer? I have set right relationships for 1000s of people. People who do this kind of healing should make sure that they dont get affected. And probably I made a mistake somewhere there. So it could be possible that in healing those relationships, I took the karma onto me and so my relationship with my son and the acharyas (who are like my children, they have been there since I started the school) is being ...
Shilpa Shetty is doing her bit to fight global warming. She has joined hands with Freeplay Energy India, a company that produces hand crank lanterns that generate electricity without using fuel. The actress' foundation will distribute these solar power- generated lamps for free to villages in India. Shilpa, who is currently in London, says, "The company has a patent technology called Crank. You don't need any kerosene or electricity or natural resources to light up these lamps. One just needs to wind up the crank system manually for one minute and you get 15 minutes of bright light. It's great for villages with no light. This way, we can save on pollution from burning fuels." The actress has tied up with the company to be her sole suppliers for these lamps, which cost roughly between Rs 1000-1500 each, "I have also incorporated solar power in some lamps which I will be giving out free through my organisation, the Shilpa Shetty Foundation to some villages that don't have electricity. It's been a cause that I feel for, besides it also promotes the cause of fighting global warming by conserving energy. Since we are giving the lamps for free we are asking people to donate generously. Recently, I have given away my prize winnings from the show 10 Ka Dum show to the SSF. We need to do our bit for society as much as we can."

Salman Khans show stole the limelight on Day 2 of the HDIL India Couture Week. It was one of the most anticipated shows of the HDIL India Couture Week 2009, with Kingfisher providing the Good Times, and it lived up to its promise and delivered much more. The ramp lit up, absolute Bollywood style, as Salman Khan along with brothers Sohail and Arbaaz, girlfriend Katrina Kaif and six superstar fellow actors stepped out for the Being Human show on Day 2. This one had drama right from the word go. As the lights dimmed, a group of children came dancing onto the ramp. Following them was Salman, strolling and smiling in a slim-fit black suit. Arbaaz and Sohail joined him as their wives, Malaika and Seema respectively, cheered loudly. And then, amidst some stunning creations, the stars walked in. Starting with Saif Ali Khan in denims and a steel grey jacket. Next was Govinda wearing a grey suit with an indigo blue shirt. Ajay Devgn walked in his typical macho style, wearing a blue suit and a pink shirt. Salman commented that Ajay looked like he meant business. Then it was Katrina, looking etheral in a black gown with digital prints of Salmans painting. Sanjay Dutt rocked in a pair of jeans, a leather jacket, his trademark scarf and bright red shoes. Akshay Kumar was next, sporting a cowboy look with his T-shirt, jacket and brown raunched cowboy boots. He suggestively stopped in front of wife Twinkle, as if they were to do an encore of the unzipped episode, but she waved the ...
One is a hot-shot actor-turned-film-maker, the other a director with two blockbusters. The deep bond between Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty is a relationship between equals. It has withstood time, fame and misfortune and is today the force behind Devgn Films All The Best, a Diwali (October 16) release. The first slab of this friendship was laid when I started my career with Phool Aur Kaante 18 years ago, says Ajay. Rohit was an assistant to my father Veeru Devgn and we started our interaction on that set. As time elapsed, Ajay became a superstar, and Rohit slowly found his own feet. The two collaborated on the action flick Zameen in 2003. The film flopped, but their bond grew stronger. They struck gold when they pooled their talent for Golmaal. And they then made a sequel called Golmaal Returns, a film that broke several box office records in 2008. Ajay is my best friend, says Rohit, but he is also my best producer. I couldnt have made All The Best on the scale that it has been, had it not been for Ajays generosity and vision. He never questions my decisions as a technician. He gives me a free hand to tell a story the way I wish to. He does not compromise on budgets for songs or action sequences. The director feels All The Best has turned into a Diwali extravaganza because it has all the right ingredients — great comedy, superb action, a story at the core, lavishly-picturised songs — to stand out as a complete family entertainer. A huge Manmohan Desai fan, Rohit says, If you ...

Expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh stuck to his guns on the issue of Jinnah and Sardar Patel while appearing in 'Aap Ki Adalat' show.
Tight, fast-paced action flick, Sikandar is all about the usual host of issues that leap to ones mind with Kashmir ie violence, jihad, deadly weapons, army and the militancy. Yet, Sikandar is also about something else that is new and refreshingly different-encroached childhood. The plot is complicated but racy, with a number of nail-biting twists in the story-line. Sikandar Raza (Parzan Dastur) is a fourteen year old schoolboy in Kashmir, orphaned when his parents were brutally killed by terrorists. He lives with his aunt and uncle in a small town in Kashmir and playing football rules his world. One day, on his way home from a school football match, he finds a gun lying on the path. Despite admonishments by his newly made school friend, Nasreen (Ayesha Kapoor), Sikandar picks up the gun unleashing the darker side in him. At first glance the events that unfold seem disconnected but as layer upon layer unravels the pieces of the puzzle come together which lead to a shocking revelation. The director, Piyush Jha has come up with a great idea and has tried to keep the narration going at a taut and relentless pace. The film though shot in Kashmir but has nothing to do with terrorism. He says the film is an absolute suspense thriller and will definitely surprise the audience. Parzaan Dastur, the protagonist of the film has given a very interesting and convincing portrayal of the confused child who makes a mistake. Ayesha Kapoor, the Black girl, has also worked day in and day out ...
A debut in one of the most raved about films of 2008 Rock On!! and now she will be soon seen in a comedy flick Life Partner opposite Tusshar Kapoor. The film also stars Genelia DSouza, Fardeen Khan and Govinda. But Prachi has no qualms about doing another multi starrer. Prachi recently won the best debut award at Anand Lok Star Puraskar and the Sabsey Favourite New Heroine at Star Golds Sabsey Favourite Kaun award. The actress who was noticed for her performance in Kasam Se, we thought, would now ask filmmakers to look more towards TV than modelling — when looking for a fresh face. But she has a different take. Actors on TV are quite old. In fact, most of them have older screen image too. I was lucky because age is on my side. That is a big advantage, she says.
