ENDURING FREEDOM is an ironic portrayal of the United States in the aftermath of 9/11. AMERICA is represented by a corpulent actor, who tries to catch some sleep. He/she is in a state of saturation when attacked and he reacts with clumsiness and helplessness. Tiny drawn mosquitoes represent the TERRORISTS and the scale of threat they really impose on the omnipresent empire. No matter how hard America tries to rid itself from attacks and how much security it will come up with, there will always be another "mosquito". At first the protagonist retaliates with a vacuum cleaner that almost seems like a phaser out of star track, but he fails and the menace escapes. Never getting a rest "the empire" finally succeeds in killing the intruder with the NEW YORK TIMES. The United States Navy and the Marines are a team of one. Operation Enduring Freedom is a prime example of this 21st Century Fighting Machine. The Navy and Marines have each others back. When it comes to service and sacrifice, "no one gets left behind". They don't do it for the money, they do it for freedom and the country they love. The War in Afghanistan, which began on October 7, 2001 as the US military operation Operation Enduring Freedom, was launched by the United States with the United Kingdom in response to the September 11 attacks. Approximately 28300 US troops are in OEF.[2][5][6] The second operation is the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), initially established by the UN Security Council at the end of December 2001 to secure Kabul and its surroundings. NATO assumed control of ISAF in 2003. By January 12, 2009, ISAF had around 55100 troops from 41 countries, with NATO members providing the core of the force. The United States has approximately 23300 troops in ISAF.
