Way back in spring of 1979 Susan Anton had her own 4 week variety series "Presenting Susan Anton". In this clip from the 3rd episode of the series, Johnny Mathis and Susan perform a series of classic Johnny Mathis hits. Included in the duet is the Oscar nominated song "The Last Time I Felt Like This" from the Alan Alda/Ellen Burstyn film from 1978 "Same Time, Next Year. Also included "Love Story", Misty", Wonderful, Wonderful, Chances Are", and several others. The duet is fantastic and this clip is so rare, it has not been seen since its original telecast back in April of 1979-over 30 years ago!! Mathis sang duets with many singers over the years including Jane Oliver, Dionne Warwick, Patti Austin, Deneice Williams,Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, Lorrie Morgan, and even Lena Horne-but I have to say, I love him and Suan together-I hope you will too.The variety series was in the Donny and Marie Osmond vein that was popular at the time. She really proved to be a versatile singer, actress and dancer here. Following in the summer of 1979, Anton went on to the thatrical film "Goldengirl", then slowly faded away and is now pretty big in nightclubs, and shows in Vegas. She never really reached the stardom that she deserved, but continues to perform to the delight of her fans. I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane.
So You Think You Can Dance judge, Adam Shankman dropped a large bomb at the end of last night's results show. Shankman, who is producing this year's Academy Awards, announced that he's giving two lucky finalists the opportunity of a lifetime...to dance on the Oscar telecast. The winner and runner of SYTYCD will be part of the production at the Academy Awards, and there wasn't one of the top six finalists who wasn't already dreaming big...and grateful to Shankman. Adam Shankman has already made some changes to the "82nd Annual Academy Awards" by having both Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin co-host the show. It was kind of a no-brainer for the "Hairspray" producer, who is a fan and a friend of the two actors. Besides, the last time there were co-hosts was in 1987 when comedy actors, Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn and Paul Hogan took the stage. To hear Shankman tell it, Baldwin better beware, because he might just be croonin' - tunin' and tapping his feet off for the telecast.
