Google I/O 2010 - Testing techniques for Google App Engine App Engine 201 Max Ross We typically write tests assuming that our development stack closely resembles our production stack. What if our target environment only lives in the cloud? We will highlight the key differences between typical testing techniques and Google App Engine testing techniques. We will also present concrete strategies for testing against local and cloud-based implementations of App Engine services. Finally, we will explain how to use App Engine as a highly parallel test harness that runs existing test suites without modification. For all I/O 2010 sessions, please go to code.google.com/events/io/2010/sessions.html

..:: ADD &fmt=18 TO THE URL FOR STEREO ::.. [photography by Véronique van Helden ©] Here's a vid I did exclusively for the sake of experimenting and getting the swells I need just right and huge. I decided to record my amp setup with 2 SM57's and tweak Ableton Live's reverb, since I noticed it had two ways of modulating the tail and the reflections. I started tweaking and eventually found out that these are the reverbs I've been longing for! They do the job extremely well. For this video I used 1 reverb on both SM57 tracks and made 3 Return patches (which are like FX loops) which all had different reverbs on them. I then mixed in the reverbs so they meshed with the original tail - and voilà, here it is. Return A was panned hard to the left Return B was centered Return C was panned hard to the right For this clip I only used the modded MXR Dyna Comp '76 Script RI, modded DL-4 (Auto-Volume Echo), Hartman Analog Flanger, Damage Control TimeLine, the DMM and some on-board G-System reverb and delay - the rest is the Ableton Live reverbs. These are just two guitar parts layered on top of each other, and a low synth (Nanontron, which is actually a Mellotron plugin) through a filter (you can barely hear it, but it's there, underneath it all). I hope you like it! Since I've gotten some request, you can download the track here for free: - www.mediafire.com - - - Gear used for recording: - 2x Shure SM57 - PreSonus FirePod - Ableton Live 6.01 Plugins: - 5x Ableton Live Reverb (custom ...

Google Tech Talk April 14, 2010 ABSTRACT Presented by Erich W. Gunther. The smart grid is a big topic these days, but before there was a smart grid newspaper headline, the utilities have been experimenting with TCP/IP in the backend networks for a while now. Erich Gunther of enernex (www.enernex.com) will present a reference model and concept of network operations for the power industry including how Internet Protocols fit in that space. Along the way he will touch on what has worked, what hasn't and some of the security issues along the way. Erich W. Gunther is the co-founder, chairman and chief technology officer for EnerNex Corporation - an electric power research, engineering, and consulting firm - located in Knoxville Tennessee. With 30 years of experience in the electric power industry, Erich is no stranger to smart grid - he has been involved in defining what smart grid is before the term itself was coined.

Google Tech Talk February 10, 2010 ABSTRACT Presented by Dino Farinacci. We will describe the initial problem statement LISP was created for. Since fall of 2006, when the IAB held a routing workshop in Amsterdam, we have found many more use cases for the level of indirection LISP brings. LISP is taking the overloaded semantics of the IP address, where a network device's identity address and location address are separated so one can keep one of the addresses fixed and while changing the other. This first part of a 3-part series will explain the problem statements, provide an architecture deep-dive of the idea, and illustrate how the LISP protocols are used. This session is necessary prerequisite for LISP Part 2 and LISP Part 3. Dino Farinacci: Dino originally joined Cisco in spring of 1991 and was one of the first two Cisco Fellows. He has built routers for 27 years. Dino currently works in the Data Center Business Unit at cisco where his focus is on building a next-generation platform and operating system for Enterprise and Data Center environments. This platform is the Nexus 7000 running NX-OS which shipped in April of 2008. His expertise specializes in routing protocols where he has intimate knowledge and implementation experience with IS-IS, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, IGMP, PIM, and MSDP, as well as IPv6 and MPLS protocols. He is an advocate for modular operating systems. Dino also has been a member of the IETF for 19 years making many contributions over this period of time ...

The Tide beats Texas after Colt McCoy is injured and the Longhorns' backup almost stages a comeback. - Jan 07, 2009 - PASADENA, Calif. —The houndstooth hat is a memory—the Snake, Joe Willie and Bart Starr replaced by guys named Julio, Javier and Mount Cody. Alabama football, though, is alive and well, thanks to a defense that would have made the Bear smile. That defense knocked Texas quarterback Colt McCoy out of the BCS title game early Thursday night, then made a big play to save the win late and restore glory to Bear Bryants football factory with a 37-21 victory for the Crimson Tides first national title since 1992. The Tide was the unanimous No. 1 in The Associated Press poll. We back, said Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, the offensive MVP. Hanging onto a three-point lead and with momentum on the other side, linebacker Eryk Anders preserved the victory, forcing a fumble on his blindside sack of Texas backup quarterback Garrett Gilbert with 3:02 left. Ingram scored three plays later to give the top-ranked Tide (14-0) breathing room, then Trent Richardson added a late touchdown to make it look like a blowout it really wasnt. McCoy, injured on the Texas offenses fifth play, watched most of it from the sideline with an injured throwing shoulder. I would have given anything to be out there, because it would have been different, he said. It wasnt, though, and Nick Saban, in just his third year at Tuscaloosa, helped Alabama earn its eighth title since the polls began in ...
So, here's the new setup. A lot of people have been asking about the change and wanted to see what has changed and how. As you can see, quite a lot! I'm running a full stereo rig at the moment, which is unbelievably full and lush! This recording of course doesn't do it any justice, but it was the quickest way to demonstrate the rig in a practical way. The Arafúra rig is build from two parts, one being the IZAH live rig and the other half, of course, being the Arafúra rig. I hope you enjoy it! The quality is quite shoddy, of course. This is a rough draft of a new track I've been working on called 'Floating around accidental-like on a breeze' - if all goes well, I'll be able to work it out a lot more when and if the plans for the expansion of Arafúra as a trio will take place. Plans are big seeing I'm getting some folks over soon; another guitar player who plays a bit of keys and a cello player who plays keys and a bit of guitar as well. We'll see how it goes! [JUST TO ELABORATE] The first part is all guitar, I turn on the master slider in Ableton Live, but before that, there was already some dual droning going on from the loopers. - - - Gear used for recording: - Camera: Canon PowerShot A470 - - - Gear used: Guitars: - Fender '93 ltd. #71 most discussed, #93 Top-rated (Today) - Music - This is the 4th of the TK tapes, which I recorded on a 1963 model Grundig tk18 reel-to-reel tape recorder, back in 1970 ! I took the top off, this time, so you can take a look at what goes on inside :] On the previous two vids I just pointed a mic at the recorder's loudspeaker. This time I made-up a lead to take the line-level 'extension speaker out' signal from the din socket on the Grundig. I fed this into a tapco link usb d/a converter and recorded digitally on my iMac g4, using Garageband. I added a little echo and reverb. So . . . a little tune I made-up & recorded nearly 40 years ago with the aid of valve-power, oxide-coated tape and a spinning cast-iron flywheel, to reduce 'wow & flutter', . . .somehow ends up as a digital recording on YouTube. I am totally amazed at the sound quality - it could have been recorded last week, rather than almost 40 years ago! It was played on my first guitar, an Eko jumbo acoustic which I bought s/h for £3. It had a great tone, but the action was horrible - like playing railway lines ! The guitars which teens could afford, back then, were so dreadful as to be almost unplayable. My elder bro' gave up in frustration, but I'm a cussed sorta guy so I stuck with it. :p Hope you enjoy seeing my little piece of audio history and maybe you'll be as amazed as I am. From valves and flywheels to memory sticks and mp3's in one lifetime. No wonder I feel tired sometimes :p TAGS: Guitarra ...

Shitty qaulity I know. Also if anyone knows where I can actaully get good footage of the wing series from this year by all means tell me. Thanks! Still my favorite memory of hockey, hockey team whatever/what have you was this team. To bad it ended very fast. Sharks trading away the players what made them what they were. And everyone pretty quickly became disposable. Even larionov there leader just a year leader was made to be shit. IIRC there were comments in 95 that san jose was doing him a big favor by giving him 1.1 million for 3 years for a guy in his 30s. 1.1 mil for the BEST player on the team. THE GUY THAT IS YOUR LEADER.(I love irbe to dont get me wrong.)And when he asked to be traded there was some off handed comment like, its not like if we were to trade janney who we would get someone good for. WTF!?? Of course janney was more or less a bust in san jose. Not saying he is a bad player cuz obviously he wasnt. But he should not have taken over larionovs spot. Pretty sad I remember just the next season larionov wasnt even being played in the final mins of the game with the goalie pulled. He just wasnted good enough I guess. *rolls eyes* And of course larionov still led the team(that I recall with out looking at the stats) in the playoffs even on the second line. I guess theres probably 2 sides to the story. But im baised towards larionov so.... What can I say? lol Oh well san jose, how quickly you rose just to become shit again.
