After a half-century, the Bears once again became conference champions. Cal (20-9, 12-5), with its 62-46 win over Arizona State on Saturday afternoon, clinched at least a share for the regular-season Pac-10 title. "It's unfortunate, it being our last time playing at Haas, but the way we ended it was the most important thing" he said. Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that CALIFORNIA senior guard Jerome Randle has been named the Pac-10 Mens Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 8-14. Randle, a native from Chicago, Ill., moved into third place on Cals all-time scoring list over the weekend, just eight points behind Lamond Murray for second place. For the weekend, Randle averaged 28.5 points, shooting 19-for-36 (53 percent) from the field, including 64 percent (9-for-14) from behind the arc and 91 percent (10-for-11) from the free throw line, respectively. In Thursdays 93-81 win over the Huskies, Randle scored 21 of his 33 points in the first half on 12-for-19 (63 percent) from the floor. For Randle, it was his second 30-point outing of the season and third of his career. In Saturdays 86-70 victory over the Cougars, the senior guard scored 24 points on 7-for-17 shooting (41 percent), including 6-for-9 (67 percent) from three-point land as the Golden Bears erased an 11-point halftime deficit. For the season, Randle ranks among the Pac-10 leaders in many statistical categories including fourth in scoring (19.8 ppg), third in assists (4.56 apg), first in free throw percentage (92 percent), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (41 percent) and second in three-point field goal made (72). This is the third weekly honor for Randle and Californias 43rd all-time Player of the Week.

Pondexter, who hails from Fresno, Calif., joins Ed obannon (UCLA), Gary Payton (OSU) and Eddie House (ASU) as the only mens basketball players to earn four Pac-10 Player of the Weeks in a single season. Pondexter did so by averaging 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in wins over Arizona and Arizona State. In Thursdays 81-75 win over the Wildcats, Pondexter scored 30 points, his third 30-plus point game of the season, and pulled down 12 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the year. He also dished out three assists and had one block. In Saturdays 79-56 victory over the Sun Devils, he tallied 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists. For the weekend, the senior forward was 16-for-28 (57 percent) from the floor, including 14-for-20 (70 percent) from the free throw line. For the season, Pondexter ranks among the Pac-10 leaders in many statistical categories including third in scoring (20.6 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 rpg), fifth in free throw percentage (82 percent) and field goal percentage (55 percent) and eighth in steals (1.43 spg).
