Australia vs Pakistan 1st T20 MCC Spirit of Cricket Series (2010) played in England
A contingent of Pakistan Army departed for China today from PAF Base Chaklala to participate in third joint military training exercise,YOUYI- III (Friendship) being held in China. A week long exercise will be conducted from 1st July to 7th July at Qixtonxia, Yeuhuan China. Troops of Special Services Group of both the countries will participate in joint exercise. The exercise has been designed to benefit from the professional skills employed by the two Special Forces Group at sub unit level. The aim of the exercise is to practice counter terrorism mechanisms / drills in mountains and developing interpersonal rapport between participants of both sides. Pakistan's unprecedented success in counter terrorism operations has contributed to an environment in which Pakistan Army and PLA have sought to hold a joint exercise to benefit from each others' experiences. This exercise is third in the series, in which Special Forces from both sides along with Chinese Air Force and Aviation will participate. Senior Military leadership from both sides will also attend the Exercise. The YOUYI-III exercise will be a true manifestation to a famous Chinese phrase "Pakistan China friendship is higher than the mountains and deeper than oceans". To provide the troops the real feel of battle ground, the troops have been divided into two groups, namely Blue Land and Fox Land with the former as defendant and the latter as adversary. A Heavy Anti-Tank battalion of Blue Land demonstrated the Dispersal Techniques in Cholistan desert sector and demonstrated the capabilities operating Armored Personnel Carrier (APC). Other supporting units including Tanks, Infantry, Artillery Guns, Anti-Aircraft, Engineers, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Signals and others are also actively taking part in the exercises. In Pakistan there is increasing suspicion that India will use its influence in Afghanistan to further destabilise its troubled border region. India has dismissed that suggestion, saying it is only involved in reconstruction and humanitarian work in Afghanistan. John Kerry, US President Barack Obama's key adviser on foreign policy, while acknowledging the fact that the situation along the India-Pakistan border has improved in the recent past, has said that suspicion between the two countries continues to "run deeper". "The situation along the Indo-Pak border has improved in the last few months. The tensions over Mumbai have been deep. And the suspicions run even deeper," Kerry told the US PBS news channel on Saturday. Kerry said Pakistan believes that Indian influence in Afghanistan is too great, that it is trying to alienate Pakistan on the international stage. 'Exaggerations' Robert Wirsing, a professor at Georgetown University in Doha, told Al Jazeera: "There is no question that Pakistanis are inclined to exaggerate a lot of things and no doubt the allegations made about India are from time to time exaggerated - it plays into their overall strategy. "Nevertheless, both Pakistan and India are not above a variety of covert or clandestine activities. They do what they feel they must in order to protect their national interests and strategic interests in this region. "Afghanistan is certainly an important strategic arena in which they engage in these kinds of activities ... its tit-for-tat," he said. Al Jazeera's Imran Khan reports from Islamabad.
