In this movie review, I talk about the movie that is related to the last movie, "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory," with the actor and director team of Johnny Depp and Tim Burton together again doing this movie. Johnny Depp potrays the character "Willy Wonka" in this movie and Johnny plays the character in a lot darker light than Gene Wilder did in the other movie. Freddy Highmore plays "Charlie," where Peter Ostrum played the same character in the other movie. I talk about Deep Roy, who plays ALL of the "Oompa Loomas" in this movie and how Deep Roy was also in Tim Burton's "Big Fish," as Danny Devito's assistant. I also tell about Tim Burton's comment about Deep Roy's involvement in this movie as well in this review.
In this movie review, I talk about another Gene Wilder movie, "Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory." This movie came out back in 1971 and is definately a "G" rated movie. This movie you can watch with the younger children and they'll enjoy it, not to mention that most adults remember this movie from THEIR childhoods as well. I talk about how I wish Gene Wilder would make another movie, because this kind of acting is now rare. In fact, I talk about how Eddie Murphy could take acting lessons from Gene Wilder on how to do a "Family type" movie.

Starring Gene Wilder, Jack Albertson, Roy Kinnear, Julie Dawn Cole, Leonard Stone, Denise Nickerson, Dodo Denney, Paris Themmen, and introducing Peter Ostrum as "Charlie". The song is "The Candy Man" by Sammy Davis, Jr. I always remember this being one of my favorite films when I was a little kid, and it still is. It's one of those movies that I could watch again and again and again. "What is this ...

Promoted as a family musical by Paramount Pictures, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is more of a black comedy, perversely faithful to the spirit of Roald Dahl's original book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum), who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather (Jack Albertson). In the course of the tour, Willy Wonka punishes the four nastier children in various diabolical methods -- one kid is inflated and covered with blueberry dye, another ends up as a principal ingredient of the chocolate, and so on -- because these kids have violated the ethics of Wonka's factory. In the end, only Charlie and his grandfather are left. Ostensibly set in England, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was lensed in Germany (as revealed by the film's final overhead shot).
