This is my "ancient" F20T12CW26 preheat fluorescent fixture. I found it on the side of the road in a trash pile about 9 years ago. Luckily the original bulb was still intact and it had a starter! So I rewired the fixture to plug in to a wall outlet, and for many years used the push-button switch located on the left side of it. There is also an outlet on the right side of the fixture to plug anything you want into. The original was a Philips brand bulb, which after 6 years I finally replaced due to the bulb was not as bright as a new bulb. It still worked, but just wasn't as bright, and the ends were barely darkened. I also replaced the original starter after 8 years due to the starter was starting to take too long to initially start preheating the bulb. The original starter was a GE brand FS-2. It had a cylindrical bulb and made a very metallic sound, with no "bell" noises. It was argon. Only new parts added in over 9 years of nightly operation were the starter, bulb, and a new more convenient cord switch. The new starter is an "Advance" brand starter which is responsive as seen in the video and it is argon. I love the "ding" sound it makes. The newest bulb is a "Dalmar" brand and it, along with it's twin that I bought at the same time, is a very blink happy bulb, especially compared to my "GE" brand one I used for a couple of years, which hardly blinked at all. Funny thing is the GE one was apparently "not recommended for use in preheat or rapid start systems" according ...
