Home excision in toto of a trichilemmal cyst (also known as a pilar cyst or wen). They share similarities with epidermoid cysts (commonly and incorrectly called sebaceous cysts). Both types of cysts are formed by cells which excrete keratinous (Greek 'horny'- proteins from which nails and hair are made) material getting trapped beneath the skin without an outlet, either developmentally or by trauma. This cyst derived from a hair follicle. Epidermoid cysts are from epidermal (outer skin) cells that get trapped in the deeper dermal layers of skin. The erupting discharge is a cottage cheese consistency, non odorous material, similar to what you would squeeze from a facial pore, It is not pus. The cyst wall removed afterwards represents the trapped cells that produces the excreted matter, if it is not removed, the cyst will slowly grow back. If you watch in high-resolution mode, you can see the high velocity spurts at 1:50 and 1:58, the first of which hit me in the lip and chin (note hand leaves frame for a split second to wipe away using my shoulder), the second left a nice spray line across my chest. Hence the second incision to widen the hole to reduce pressure. Do not try this at home, if not done with the proper tools and technique occuring offscreen you will end up with a nasty infection and scarring. Additional thanks to Nirvana for ambiance and my dog for backing vocals.
