Plastics touch every aspect of life. Without plastics, much of what we depend on daily at work and home would disappear. Despite its prevalence, the moldable material doesnt enjoy top-of-the-mind awareness, especially among the current generation of students. This episode of degrees that work. attempts to change that. The expertise of national experts is combined with the work of high school students engaged in a plastics project to illuminate the exciting nature and possibilities of the field. Visits to NPE 2009 in Chicago, the largest gathering of plastics professionals in the world, and to KNEX Brands, one of the largest injection molders in the country, provide additional insight into a sector that offers ample, rewarding career opportunities for todays students. smacksboosters.110mb.com Here is a description of my new cell design featuring Titanium substrate MMO technology. Titanium MMO plates have a 60 year PROVEN history in the water purification industry as a CLEAN and SAFE process which produces no Cr6+ or other harmful compounds. The process was first used in electro-coagulation. This is a version of the technology used in producing hydroxy gas. The gas produced from these designs has a higher quality than stainless cell designs. The water stays crystal clear and never needs flushing. The cell never needs to be cleaned. There are no particulates or carcinogens in the water. This design features a flow manifold design that I developed during my Gen V research. I took the same principles and applied them here. I have also done away with plastic endplates and now use aluminum for better sealing. Aluminum endplates do not warp or bend, so the gaskets remain compressed and the seals maintain their integrity. This is the future of electrolytic cells. This design is used primarily for boosting gensets and small stationary engines. This is a result of my research into EV conversion technology with on board genset charging. This type of direction is the future of clean technology in the transportation sector. smacksboosters.110mb.com This is the real direction of my company, and where the focus will be concentrated.
TODAYS SHOW IS BROUGHT TO YOU IN ASSOCIATION WITH www.duplication.ie PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT A Plastic Rose are the cross-community-cross-border stars of the future. This 4-piece were formed when bassist Troy and drummer Dave answered an emergency call from other members Gerry (guitar and Ian (guitar/vox) following unsuccessful attempts to kidnap members from other local bands. Once settled these Sligo/Tyrone mongrels have forced themselves into public and critical consciousness with acclaimed eps, singles and live shows including TV appearances on utvs Live At The Limelight, multiple radio sessions across Ireland, and well-received slots at Glasgowbury, Hard-Working-Class Heroes, Unconvention and Leeds and Reading Festivals, the latter coinciding with them becoming the first ever unsigned band to be play-listed on BBC Radio 1, with airplay across the schedule. Jo Whiley, Edith Bowman, Nihal, Hew Stevens and Tom Robinsons all playing their debut single 'All You Know And Love Will Die. They deliver their nu-wave-disco-grunge-old-skool-emo with a passion and intensity forged by their apprenticeship of gigging anytime, anywhere, with and to anyone, a philosophy that has led to them sharing stages with acts as diverse as Frank Turner, Explosions In The Sky, Fightstar, And So I Watch You From Afar and Fighting With Wire, picking up fans in Charlie Simpson (Fightstar "Irelands best up and coming band at the moment") and Gary Lightbody (giving them a mention in his list of N.Irish bands to look for) establishing a growing core support across Ireland with on-going touring and being recognised as one of the coming forces in music (BBC Across The Line Acts Of The Year 2008). Now signed to didimau Records, and fuelled by addictions to videogames, celebrities and functional sculpture, APR are poised to take on the world even if its not ready. Youve been warned. APR are launching their next 7" vinyl single Colour Blue as a split single with The Good Fight in The Empire Music Hall, Belfast Dec 10th through didimau followed by an Irish tour. To end the year on a high they are releasing a free digital only EP on Christmas day called 'Happy Birthday Jesus' featuring new songs 'Mother It's Time' and 'Promises'(and maybe a little surprise thrown in). 'Superspeed' has just been made available for free download at www.nichart.com and has entered the chart at Number One. www.myspace.com Tune in again tomorrow!!!
The extended clip from Disney•Pixar's Toy Story 3 that was supposed to debut during ABC Family's airing of The Incredibles tonight has already made its way online and can be watched using the player below. The clip features an intro by director Lee Unkrich. In the third installment, opening in 3D theaters and IMAX 3D on June 18, Andy prepares to depart for college while Buzz, Woody and the rest of his loyal toys are troubled about their uncertain future. Directed by Lee Unkrich, Toy Story 3 is a comical new adventure that lands the toys in a room full of untamed tots who can't wait to get their sticky little fingers on these "new" toys. It's pandemonium as they try to stay together, ensuring "no toy gets left behind." Meanwhile, Barbie comes face to plastic face with Ken (yes, that Ken).

Following a presentation to Google employees by Captain Charles Moore, an oceanographer who pioneered the study of plastic debris, the Strategic Council on Plastic Pollution convened at the Google Campus in Mountain View, California on June 4, 2009. It was the first meeting for the council on plastic pollution, which was recently formed to raise awareness of this rising threat to the world's oceans. Said council member and marine biologist Dr. Wallace J. Nichols, We are finding plastic in the stomachs of sea turtles, birds, and fish all over the world. I find this extremely disturbing." In honor of World Oceans Day, the council has issued the following statement regarding this increasingly urgent threat to wildlife and human health: Do you know where our plastic goes? Did you know that our oceans are filling up with plastic pollution? Plastic fragments contaminate even the most remote locations on earth, and harmful chemicals leached by plastics are present in the bloodstream and tissues of almost every one of us. Plastic pollution harms people, animals, and the environment. Plastic is not biodegradable. In the marine environment, plastic breaks down into smaller and smaller particles that absorb toxic chemicals, are ingested by wildlife, and enter the food chain that we depend on. Consumption of throwaway plastics, such as bottles, containers, bags, and packaging, has spiraled out of control. Recycling is not a sustainable solution. The reality is that most of our plastic waste is landfilled, downcycled or exported to other countries. And tragically, millions of tons of plastic are poisoning our oceans. Businesses and governments need to take responsibility for new ways to design, recover and dispose of plastics. Plastic pollution is the visible symbol of our global crisis of over-consumption. Let's pledge to shift our societies away from the disposable habits that poison our oceans and land, eliminate our consumption of throwaway plastics, and begin embracing a culture of sustainability. Our health, our children, and the survival of future generations depend on us.
This video was uploaded by the leader of the Xbox Crusaders. His name is recon 8659. In the grim darkness of the far future, there is nothing but war. But in the nicely decorated offices of Relic in downtown Vancouver, there is nothing but love. Love for Warhammer. Plastic and lead space marine miniatures are carefully arranged on almost every desk, monitor and cubical divider; there are entire rooms set aside for lunchtime games of 40k; and the lobby's home not only to a giant Blood Raven space marine whose sawblade we all diligently pose our necks against for photos, but a nine-foot statue tribute to the god-emperor of mankind. So while it's something of a surprise to discover that the largely PC-focused studio is developing a Warhammer 40000 console action RPG in a similar vein to God of War, it's really no surprise at all. Warhammer 40000: Space Marine is a third-person, over-the-shoulder action game with RPG elements. In the grim darkness of the far future, Relic's writing a new story, in which a space ork army has taken over one of the Imperium's Forge worlds - where it manufactures everything that makes up the imperial war machine - and it's up to you, playing as a single space marine in a squad from an as-yet unidentified chapter, to go in and take it back. This you do by taking a blade or a bullet to everything that's green with a pulse.

Cold Turkey" is a song written by John Lennon, and recorded by The Plastic Ono Band. Its first public performance was recorded and released on the Live Peace In Toronto 1969 album by The Plastic Ono Band which included Lennon (vocal, guitar), Eric Clapton (lead guitar), Klaus Voormann (bass), Alan White (drums) and additional vocalizing by Yoko Ono. Yoko introduced it as the newest song written by John; John added that the band had never played the song together as a group before. The song was released as a single in October 1969, and was John Lennon's second solo single ("Give Peace a Chance" being the first). According to Peter Brown in his book The Love You Make, the song was written in a "creative outburst" following Lennon and Yoko Ono going "cold turkey" from their brief heroin addictions.[1] Brown also states that Lennon presented the song to Paul mccartney as a potential single by The Beatles, but was refused and released it as a Plastic Ono Band single with sole writing credits to him.[1] "Cold Turkey" was the first song John Lennon wrote for which took sole credit; his previous compositions, including his first single release, Give Peace a Chance,[2] were attributed to the Lennon/mccartney partnership. (In the 1990s "Give Peace a Chance" was officially credited to Lennon as sole composer.) Besides Lennon, this recording features Eric Clapton on lead guitar, Klaus Voormann on bass and Ringo Starr on drums. It was recorded in Abbey Road Studio 2. In 1969 Lennon returned his MBE to Buckingham Palace saying "I am returning this MBE in protest against Britains involvement in the Nigeria-Biafra thing, against our support of America in Vietnam, and against Cold Turkey slipping down the charts. With love, John Lennon of Bag." John Lennon would perform this song, along with Don't Worry Kyoko, live at the Lyceum Ballroom with George Harrison, Keith Moon, Eric Clapton, and others. This would be Lennon's last live performance with any of the other Beatles and this version would be available on his Some Time in New York City album. The song's first appearance on a John Lennon album was the 1975 compilation Shaved Fish. In March 2005, Q magazine placed "Cold Turkey" at number 74 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cold Turkey lyrics Temperature's rising Fever is high Can't see no future Can't see no sky My feet are so heavey So is my head I wish I was a baby I wish I was dead Cold turkey has got me on the run My body is aching Goose-pimple bone Can't see no body Leave me alone My eyes are wide open Can't get to sleep One thing I'm sure of I'm in at the deep freeze Cold turkey has got me on the run Cold turkey has got me on the run Thirty-six hours Rolling in pain Praying to someone Free me again Oh I'll be a good boy Please make me well I promise you anything Get me out of this hell (C) NORTHERN SONGS

After being challenged over a still image, the source for what seems a leaked future Mac mini has now posted a video that shows the device from all sides. While its authenticity has been disputed, the mystery system has gained what appears to be supporting proof of its existence from macrumors forum poster "monthy," who on Friday posted a brief video tour of the Mac mini shown in the photo. The clip shows a case which is fundamentally identical to the current compact desktop, including its wrap-around aluminum skin, white plastic top, and slot-load optical drive, but continues to show the exact same change in ports as before. A fifth USB port has been added, while Mini displayport and mini DVI replace the earlier, full-size DVI video connector. firewire 800 also replaces the earlier firewire 400 port. No voice-over or other commentary is provided with the video, though in the previous leak the forum poster also claimed to know the system has architecture largely similar to a modern macbook: the update would contain a 2ghz Core 2 Duo with a 1066mhz system bus, 2GB of DDR3 memory and a Serial ATA-based superdrive. The video is labeled "Mac mini 2009 edition," clearly asserting that the system is intended for a release this year. The Likely Specs: * Mini DVI connector * Mini displayport connector * firewire 800 (I thought Apple was ditching Firewire) * Five USB ports * Aluminum Shell * Probably Nvidia gfx -- some iteration of geforce 9400M
In the near future there will be no elections - our leaders will be appointed for us by the wealthy elite. There will be no cash - we will work for "credits" on an implanted microchip. There will be no home owners - we will all live in public housing. There will be no cars - we will ride public transportation. Jobs will be assigned, not chosen. Food, clothing, and shelter will be allocated, not bought. There will be military police on every street. Your children will swear allegiance to the state every day during indoctrination in school, and spy on you for their leaders. Even your preschoolers will be cared for by government appointed nannies who will raise them to idolize the New World Order while you work. The Red Nation is dying and it's up for Major Burn to help it. Burn has found a time-traveling vortex out in plastica and will use it to go to the future and find diabolical weapons to help the red nation. Burn really does go to a different year in the future with his small army, but only one day into the future. The Blue nation has spotted them and will try to destroy them. But who will win? Check out my group! =) ENJOY Hello '09. goodbye 2008.
Lobbyists in the European affairs arena are always on a mission; influencing policy outcomes that is their aim. However, how can you be a successful lobbyist? One approach is to engage directly with the general public. Last week, the European plastics manufacturing industry, represented by plasticseurope, organized a youth debate in the European parliament. There was a buzz of excitement in the EP building; youngsters from ten different EU member states gathered to display their debating skills. Almost one thousand high school students battled for a spot in the finals. Here in Brussels, the hundred finalists were judged by an international jury. Among the jury members were David Gow, a business journalist for the Guardian, futurologist Ray Hammond and several representatives of plasticseurope. plasticseurope was pleased with the enthusiasm of the young participants. The plastics manufacturing industry challenged the debaters to take a stand in the question: “Are plastics part of the problem or the solution?”. They had the opportunity to hear from the next generation of European citizens about the future of plastics. The winner of the debate was Žan Žveplan, a 17 year old student from Slovenia, argued “plastics are fantastic” and continued with “we gave the opposition the truth, but they can’t handle the truth”. Though, what is the essence of this event? Did plasticseurope succeeded in finding its new ambassadors for plastics? When asking the young debaters, they say “it is about the experience” and “this is an opportunity to develop my debating skills”. The students came mainly for the learning experience. Although, some of them mentioned that the event raised their awareness of the challenges towards plastics. Distributed by Tubemogul.

oculoplastic.info Dr. Kami Parsa an oculoplastic reconstructive surgeon talks to ABC news about a large reconstructive procedure that was featured on the Discovery Health Channel. 16-year-old Marlie Casseus has undergone four surgeries to remove an 16-pound tumor that covered almost her entire face and hampered her breathing. The entire process was chronicled on the Discovery Health Channel's A New Face for Marlie. Marlie suffers from mccune-Albright syndrome (polyostotic fibrous dysplasia), a genetic disorder of bones, skin pigmentation and hormonal problems, along with premature puberty. The growth completely disfigured her facial features, causing her to become reclusive to avoid scorn and repulsion in her native country of Haiti. Most people there believed Marlie's disfigurement was the work of the devil. With most of her mouth and nasal passages blocked, Marlie was only able to eat and breathe through one very narrow passage. The tumor began to close on her throat and made breathing difficult. It would have also eventually caused blindness. All four surgeries were performed at the Holtz Children's Hospital, at the University of Miami Memorial Medical Center in Florida, and documented for the television program. The International Kids Fund partnered with Good Samaritan for a Better Life to fund Marlie's surgeries, which began when she arrived in Miami with a tracheotomy to insert a breathing tube. After her surgeries, doctors indicated that Marlie might required further cosmetic surgeries at a later date, but said the growth would not return. The first words Marlie uttered when the tracheotomy was removed were "thank you." "I have always believed that one of the most important things you can do with this life is serve others. This is the true passion that continues to drive me professionally and personally, and I feel so fortunate that I can work and make a difference as a surgeon. There are too many areas of the world and in our own country that do not have access to adequate medical care. My initial involvement was with International Kids Foundation at University of Miami. Through this organization I met exemplary people who have dedicated themselves to a lifetime of service and charity. It has been a humbling experience to work with such incredible people. These encounters have been instrumental in my growth as a physician and person. When I moved back to California, I helped to establish the Universal Children's Fund. Our mission is to make people's lives a little better in situations that otherwise may not seem possible. Children especially need sustainable hope, and our goal is to provide them with necessary medical and surgical care, helping them to grow into a brighter future." - Dr. Kami Parsa Services: Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery Revisional eyelid Surgery Asian Blepharoplasty Ptosis (droopy eyelid) surgery Forehead or Browlift Cheek lift or augmentation Customized orbito-facial reconstruction Skin cancer reconstruction Facial rejuvenation Facial volume contouring Fat grafting -- FAMI Sculptra, Resylane, Cosmoplast, Juvederm, Radiesse, Halaform, Botox Laser-light rejuvenation Lip Augmentation Thread Lift Bells Palsy Orbital Tumors

The Energy Crisis & The Future of Energy Gases Part 3 Video. The Future of Energy Gases. Year: 1993; Sponsor: United States Geological Survey. Natural gas is a gaseous fossil fuel consisting primarily of methane but including significant quantities of ethane, propane, butane, and pentane—heavier hydrocarbons removed prior to use as a consumer fuel —as well as carbon dioxide, nitrogen, helium and hydrogen sulfide. It is found in oil fields (associated) either dissolved or isolated in natural gas fields (non associated), and in coal beds (as coalbed methane). When methane-rich gases are produced by the anaerobic decay of non-fossil organic material, these are referred to as biogas. Sources of biogas include swamps, marshes, and landfills, as well as sewage sludge and manure by way of anaerobic digesters, in addition to enteric fermentation particularly in cattle. Approximately 22 percent of the energy consumption of the US comes from natural gas. More than 62.5 percent of the homes in the US use natural gas as their main heating fuel. Natural gas is also an essential raw material for many common products, such as: paints , fertilizer, plastics, antifreeze, dyes, photographic film, medicines, and explosives. We also get propane when we process natural gas. Propane is the fuel many of us use in our barbecue grills. Natural gas has thousands of uses and industry depends on it. It's used to produce steel, glass, paper, clothing, brick, electricity and much more! Homes use it too. More than 62.5 percent of homes use natural gas to fuel stoves, furnaces, water heaters, clothes dryers and other household appliances. It is also used to roast coffee, smoke meats, bake bread and much more. Natural gas burns more cleanly than other fossil fuels. It has fewer emissions of sulfur, carbon, and nitrogen than coal or oil, and when it is burned, it leaves almost no ash particles. Being a clean fuel is one reason that the use of natural gas, especially for electricity generation, has grown so much and is expected to grow even more in the future. Of course, there are environmental concerns with the use of any fuel. As with other fossil fuels, burning natural gas produces carbon dioxide which is a very important greenhouse gas. Many scientists believe that increasing levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the earth's atmosphere are changing the global climate. Also, as with other fuels, natural gas also affects the environment when it is produced, stored and transported. Because natural gas is made up mostly of methane (another greenhouse gas), small amounts of methane can sometimes leak into the atmosphere from wells, storage tanks and pipelines. The natural gas industry is working to prevent any methane from escaping. Exploring and drilling for natural gas will always have some impact on land and marine habitats. But new technologies have greatly reduced the number and size of areas disturbed by drilling, sometimes called "footprints." Satellites, global positioning systems, remote sensing devices, and 3-D and 4-D seismic technologies, make it possible to discover natural gas reserves while drilling fewer wells. Plus, the use of horizontal and directional drilling make it possible for a single well to produce gas from much bigger areas than in the past. Natural gas pipelines and storage facilities have a very good safety record. This is very important because when natural gas leaks it can cause explosions. Since raw natural gas has no odor, natural gas companies add a smelly substance to it so that people will know if there is a leak. If you have a natural gas stove, you may have smelled this "rotten egg" smell of natural gas when the pilot light has gone out.
