The 2010 spring meet at Pimlico Race Course is coming to an end. Highlighted by Lookin At Lucky's win in the 135th running of the Preakness Stakes, The spring meet at Pimlico featured 18 stakes races for purses of $2435000. Opening day at Old Hilltop this spring featured a pre-race ceremony honoring former Pimlico general manager Chick Lang, who passed away in March. The inaugural Chick Lang Stakes was run last week as part of the racing card on Preakness Day. The schedule for live racing dates at Laurel Park for the second half of the year have yet to be announced. Video shot and produced by WBAL Radio's Scott Wykoff (May 21, 2010).
WBAL Radio once again provided wall-to-wall coverage of the 135th Preakness Stakes on Saturday May 15th, 2010 at Pimlico Race Course. Keith Mills and Brett Hollander anchored the coverage from the Jockey's Terrace, high above the finish line. WBAL's Scott Wykoff, John Patti, and Robert Lang provided reports from around the track - from the stakes barn, the corporate village, and the grandstands, to the betting windows and the infield - capturing all the sounds and flavor of race day. WBAL Radio broadcast every race live throughout the afternoon. WBAL Radio's daylong coverage culminated with Dave Rodman's call of Lookin At Lucky's win in the 2010 Preakness Stakes.

Maryland Preakness Celebration, Inc. announced the calendar of events for Preakness Week 2010 in the City Hall Rotunda this morning. Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Maryland Jockey Club president Tom Chuckas and Preakness Celebration president Mark Friedman announced plans for the next two weeks leading up to the big race at Pimlico. I was so happy that he won the Kentucky Derby. But I was sad when he broke his leg at the Preakness. That was so sad for everyone how loves Barbaro. I saw Eight Belles came in second in the 2008 Kentucky Derby on TV she was a tall gray filly. She was so powerful to run in the derby. I was sad when Eight Belles broke her two front legs. That was heart broken. She was the best filly ever. I l will miss the both of them. Theya will always live on. BARBARO and EIGHT BELLES!!!!!!!!!
