"Go n-éirí an bóthar leat" is among the most celebrated Irish sayings. Often translated poetically as "may the road rise to meet you", its literal meaning is "may you succeed in the journey". I write the phrase in Gaelic script as well as standard Roman letters, and then pronounce the phrase aloud. www.nativlang.com
Three Greek sayings were inscribed into the temple at Delphi (famous for the Delphic Oracle). I write and pronounce them aloud in Ancient Greek, approximating the early pronunciation: μηδὲν ἄγαν. Nothing in excess. (or, perhaps, "Moderation in all things.") γνῶθι σεαυτόν. Know yourself. ("Know thyself.") ἐγγύα πάρα δ' ἄτη. A pledge is near to ruin. ("Make a pledge, and mischief is nigh.") For more information about writing Ancient Greek, check out my videos and pages on the Greek alphabet & script: www.nativlang.com
PowerSayings.com The new release of the Power Sayings 2010 app gives writers, speakers and word seekers the ability to find and read inspirational quotes, proverbs on success and life sayings much easier and faster, especially when compared to quote websites and books.
Proverbs are beautiful phrases wich carry a lot of meaning. Swahili as a universal language (borrowing from other languages of the world) has many many of these sayings. I have chosen a few from the book called "Swahili Sayings in English & Arabic". Accompanying text can be found on my website at kulmansam.com by Moosa K. Al-Rijeby Moosa K. The last project Tuli worked on before he left the planet was amassing a group of proverbs, quotes, and witty sayings with which he would define the wisdom of the world. One of the first topics we investigated was love. Here are his choices, plus one quote of Tuli's own which I include.

Proverbs 31 (New International Version) Proverbs 31 Sayings of King Lemuel 1 The sayings of King Lemuel—an oracle [a] his mother taught him: 2 "O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows, [b] 3 do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings. 4 "It is not for kings, O Lemuel— not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, 5 lest they drink and forget what the law decrees, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights. 6 Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish; 7 let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more. 8 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. 9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character 10 [c] A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. 13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. 15 She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. 16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. 18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night ...
Proverbs 30 (New International Version) Proverbs 30 Sayings of Agur 1 The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh—an oracle [a] : This man declared to Ithiel, to Ithiel and to Ucal: [b] 2 "I am the most ignorant of men; I do not have a man's understanding. 3 I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One. 4 Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and the name of his son? Tell me if you know! 5 "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. 6 Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar. 7 "Two things I ask of you, O LORD; do not refuse me before I die: 8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. 9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD ?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God. 10 "Do not slander a servant to his master, or he will curse you, and you will pay for it. 11 "There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers; 12 those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth; 13 those whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful; 14 those whose teeth are swords and whose jaws are set with knives to devour the poor from the earth, the needy from among mankind ...
Proverbs 1 (New International Version) Proverbs 1 Prologue: Purpose and Theme 1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: 2 for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; 3 for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; 4 for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young- 5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance- 6 for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools [a] despise wisdom and discipline. Exhortations to Embrace Wisdom Warning Against Enticement 8 Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. 9 They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. 10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them. 11 If they say, "Come along with us; let's lie in wait for someone's blood, let's waylay some harmless soul; 12 let's swallow them alive, like the grave, [b] and whole, like those who go down to the pit; 13 we will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our houses with plunder; 14 throw in your lot with us, and we will share a common purse"- 15 my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths; 16 for their feet rush into sin, they are swift to shed blood. 17 How useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds! 18 These men lie in wait for their ...

English subs: www.youtube.com So, as the title implies this is mostly about Carlos and Heidi and doesn´t follow the "Keriette"-storyline but I decided to post it anyway, because Juliette appears twice in this vid and will appear more often just as Kerstin, and because Heidi has her own group of fans among the Keriette fans. I don´t think there is much info about "our" couple, so if you don´t care about Carlos and Heidi, you can just skip this I guess. so, here´s your SUMMARY: A big shot wants to celebrate at "Daily´s", it´sa big commision for the Garcia brothers. But there are difficulties because the customer wants to have "special fortune cookies". Carlos is desperate as Juliette won´t help him because she won´t go to the bakery right now. She also refuses to tell him why but at least agrees to look for a recipe. So when Carlos and Raul discuss Carlos gets the idea to ask Heidi. she´s reluctant at first and twists his words to insults but in the end she agrees. When they are looking through long lists of proverbs, citations and sayings without finding what they are looking for, Juliette walks in asking their opinion of her bikini. When Carlos makes a cheeky remark Heidi comes up with the idea of inventing the phrases themselves. And so, they create puns and deform proverbs [this episode will be a hell to translate :D] till late at night. They end up falling asleep next to each other.

Ancient Irish Proverbs. Michael Carlin Artist / Poet CarlinStudios@Comcast.net
Ha-fez (1315 - 1390) was a Persian lyric poet. His collected works (Divan) are to be found in the homes of most Iranians, who learn his poems by heart and use them as proverbs and sayings to this day. His life and poems have been the subject of much analysis, commentary and interpretation, and have influenced post-Fourteenth Century Persian writing more than anything else has. The major themes of his ghazals are love, the celebration of wine and intoxication, and exposing the hypocrisy of those who have set themselves up as guardians, judges and examples of moral rectitude.

Proverbs of the Yesteryear which could have some impact on your life. Watch to find out which one! Music: Diversion, Outversion by Mark Ronson.
Here's the quote (I currently have it in my profile): He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion. - Unknown --- Great to keep around at all times, it makes training much funner when kept in mind (or any activity for that matter) and helps you keep your emotions in check (so the next time you come home to find your brand new sofa torn to shreds, just read this... over, and over, and over again!). :P
