Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department Acting Lt. Colonel Steven L. Hess organized the event on behalf of the Department and stated, "It is obvious that the participants in this ride very much appreciated our presence along the I-95 corridor. So I was playing Modern Warfare 2, and I was somewhat surprised to see an Emergency Broadcast System message come up as an entire cutscene before one of the levels. Here's the full cutscene here. The major differences between this and a normal Emergency Alert System broadcast are quite simple: -No voice is heard in the broadcast. -One tone is repeatedly played. -The title of the EBS flashes repeatedly.

The Prince George's County Fair began in 1842 as a friendly gathering for local farmers to showcase their produce and livestock and have a little fun. The oldest running Fair in Maryland! Though it started out as mostly livestock and field crops, eventually it came to include women's arts as well, with competitions for the best jams, jellies, canned goods, pies, breads, cookies, clothing, quilts, and handicrafts. It was (and is) quite an honor to be deemed the best in the County! Did you know they still hold competitions in all these areas plus photography, fine arts, woodworking, basket making, flower arranging, and more? The Open Class area accepts entries from any of the 5 Southern Maryland Counties and also from our District of Columbia neighbors. There's no charge to enter your work, and the top three winners in each class receive a ribbon and a small monetary award.

On Friday, February 27, 2009, the Congressional Oversight held a hearing examining state and local foreclosure reduction and prevention efforts in the state of Maryland. Prince Georges County has the highest rate of foreclosures in Maryland. Maryland has taken aggressive and innovative steps to address what they see as the worst housing crisis the nation has seen since the Great Depression. The State has taken a multi-tiered approach enacting legislation to deal with mortgage lending, providing funds to community groups to help distressed homeowners, and negotiating agreements with mortgage servicers to compel them to attempt foreclosure mitigation first before foreclosure. Through this approach the State has seen an increase in the number of homeowners receiving much needed help. However, as the economic downturn takes an even stronger hold, the State has also seen the number of homeowners in need increase as well. The witnesses included members of the public who have faced the threat of foreclosure, community-based providers of foreclosure mitigation and other housing servicers, and a state official. The Panel heard opening remarks from Congresswoman Edwards, Congressman Van Hollen, and Lloyd Baskin, Manager of the Homeownership Center of Prince Georges County.
Brent has many hopes and aspirations for a full, productive life as do most young adults. As he enters adulthood, he doesn't see his cerebral palsy stopping him. However, without support from the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration he, like 18000 others with developmental disabiliites, is stuck on a waiting list....for many years to come. He won't reach is full potential for an independent life and eventually his mother won't be able to meet his needs. Something has to be done to shorten the wait and reduce the DDA waiting list. Visit www.EndTheWaitNow.com for more information.
Jessica's story is one of over 18000 in Maryland that vibrantly speaks to the tremendous need for more community supports and services for people with developmental disabiltiies and their families. This is a state and national crisis that demands attention.

www.HomeRestorationsMd.com Welcome to another Roof Leak Inspection and Repair Video by Home Restorations of Maryland. This beautiful Old Historic Home in Prince Georges County, Maryland is the subject of our video. First, it's noted that the 10 roof pitch is "unwalkable" -- safety measures are required. Basically, normal roofing maintenance items are discovered: 3 Old Pipe Collars, several missing shingles, a few minor "nail pops", and some hairline cracking in the copper chimney flashings. One minor roof leak in a vent directly over an upstairs bathroom is confirmed. Shingles will be replaced around the exterior fan cover and then sealed with Geocel Tripolymer Sealant. We identified the shingles as Certainteed's by the "secret information strip" located under the shingle. This strip also gives information relative to the factory "run" numbers -- aiding in possible warranty claim information. Check out the follow up to this video: www.youtube.com
