We here at Tech Digest have just got our hands on a PlayStation Move controller for the PS3, and have cracked open the packaging to see what motion-based delights Sony have in store for us with their latest peripheral. Due out in the UK on September 15th, old Blighty will be getting the Move before the USA or Japan, which is a rare treat. Ok,by request here is some info on the new PS3 controller and Natal, its alot of me talking so if you dont have much interest in this, skip over to The Dusty Gamer News Part 2 for some of todays new screens and trailers :)
In this clip, I will give you a walkthrough of the NEW PS3 Motion Controller. As you might understand its not a official design or anything like that. But I came up with ideas that would most likely convince even a Hardcore gamer to use the PS3 Motion Controller. Please bare with my accent in the clip. Razer this year showed of some of its new gaming peripherals, one of those was the Razer Sixense Pc motion controller. Whats unique about this controller is the fact that its basic control mechanism differs from what you find in the Wii or the PS3 motion controller, is that it uses magnetic tracking. Which provides a surprisingly accurate level of maneuverability with speed and precision. The Sixense is still in development but is showing a lot of promise.
The PlayStation Motion Controller is a motion-sensing game controller in development for the PlayStation 3 video game console by Sony Computer Entertainment. Consisting of a handheld wand, the controller uses the PlayStation Eye webcam to track the wand's position, and inertial sensors to detect its motion. Warning this video is completely biased,and is all my opinion. {Its copying the wii}[my re.}-Sony cant legally copy the Wiimote,the same with any controller for any console or that com.will be sued for design copying.I'll explain how its not copying the Wii entirely,they both have a remote like structure with gyroscopes & accelerometers,all of which have different designs in how they work & are tuned.(4 legal reasons)They differ in the way they are positioned.the Wii uses the two inferred lights with a sensor on the mote,while the ps3 has the glowing sphere on the controller & the pseye can track position accurately 1.1,kinda like how mo cap works in games and movies.it can track its exact position like the Dr.says in the vid. {"Natal is original"}Natal is by far the most unoriginal piece of hardware ever pronounced as original. Footage from Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference has slowly been trickling on to the Internet over the past couple of days, the latest batch of which comes in the form of five-minute plus video of folk utilizing the PS3 motion-controller with LittleBigPlanet. It looks as though levels can be designed with the controllers in mind, offering an experience where one player can play as Sackboy, and the other can manipulate the games physics with the motion controller.
The gameplay begins at 2:50 (unless you speak Japanese, skip to that part, it's all presentation dialogue up to that) and lasts to the six-minute mark. It looks smooth enough, but the demonstrator also is holding a regular PS3 controller. Can't tell if that's because this is a prototype, or if that's how this game will be operated when it releases in the spring of 2010.
