My 85-year-old pneumatic player piano plays QRS roll CEL-102, a hand-played roll of Jo Ann Castle playing Chopsticks. "Hand-played" meaning she played the tune on a "marking piano" that drew lines on a paper roll as she played, and from that marked roll a master punched roll was made from which copies could be sold for pianos like mine to play. This differs from the majority of rolls, which were created by an arranger. A modern comparison would be like a live-captured MIDI sequence versus a programmed MIDI file. Jo Ann Castle is a famous ragtime, honky-tonk and boogie-woogie pianist. In the 1960s, she appeared regularly on The Lawrence Welk Show. Me growing up in the 1970s, I saw her plenty of times on Welk reruns, so she was one of my early exposures to ragtime music.
This is the first video of my pneumatic player piano in action at our new house. This song is iconic of the 1920s, though it didn't come about until 1927. Milton Ager wrote the music. Jack Yellen was the lyricist. The song is so popular, even The Beatles recorded a version of it! This roll bears the signature famed roll artist Pete Wendling, who left QRS in 1925 -- two years before this tune was composed. Thanks to YouTuber "ragtimist" for pointing out that post-1925 rolls with Wendling's signature printed on them may in fact be the work of J. Lawrence Cook. There are no dynamics marked on the roll; I'm just winging it as I go along, without really remembering how the arrangement goes. Most 88-note player-piano videos you'll find don't utilize the dynamics levers because the pianos have been electrified, so people don't sit at the controls while the rolls play. My piano has not been electrified, so I'm seated at the keyboard operating the foot pumps and using the dynamics levers and sustain button with my left hand. Sing along! This is another song using the Nord C1 as a MIDI controller to play the piano. I hope to add MIDI to the Hammond E. If I can "pull it off" I can add realistic piano sounds to the Hammond. If not, I will have to save up for a very long time and get an Allen digital theater organ with MIDI capabilities. I don't see that happening for a while.

To find out the frontal plane QRS axis with ease I have come out with this axis finder. This is made up of two pieces of paper, the bigger one has a diagram of various limb leads showing the direction of their vector. The second piece is a semi-circle, with a black arrow drawn in the middle. The semi circle is fitted on to the bigger piece in a way that allows it to rotate freely. To determine the frontal plane QRS axis all you have to do is just cover all the leads showing positive deflection with the semi-circle. Then the arrow gives you the direction of the frontal plane QRS axis.
